LOL, Nikki! Great minds. Although I now have that part in Lion King going through my head.
This for some reason made me think of the romance scene music playing "Can you feel the love tonight" as we get it on with Cullenlittlenikki wrote...

Oooo, maybe we'll be close to death and Cass 'n' Varric stumble across us and take us to safety.

No, this happens at the very beginning of the game. Some "event" rips the Veil and the only survivor is us. Then we proceed to fix the rip and save the world.ag99 wrote...

I'm thinking maybe Varric and Cassandra travel together and find the Protagonist after the veil rip event. So no real recruitment mission for them.
For Vivienne, I keep hearing about Orlais tearing itself apart, so maybe the people become paranoid with the whole mage rebellion so they take matters in their own hands and destroy the circle there? We are tasked to rescue her?
Doesn't it say that our protagonist is the only one who witnesses the veil rip and how/who done it? Or something? And that we're the only survivor?
Wait does this mean we wont get an option to save the world??? WTF... I dont want EVERYBODY to die:crying:
I think my inner blonde will come out on this one but if we are the only survivor then how come we get to have companions?

I was thinking more along the lines of when Timone and Pumper find baby Simba passed out in the desert close to death and take him to safety, lol.

One can hope! Though no worries doesn't really seem to suit Cass. She would probably just mope along and stare daggers at Varric and our PC

I'm loving the news that we can pick various races again. Though, it's my understanding that it's also at the cost of our origin stories."
"David Gaider wrote...
Careful when you say "origin stories". Someone might hear "origin" and think the playable origins from DAO. That was never in the cards, and that's why we called our original plan "backgrounds" instead."
There's too much reactivity during the game to that initial choice to allow for both race options as well as background options for each race. Much as that sounds cool to anyone who believe more is more, in this case it would have to come with the cost of either removing planned content from each of those variations (so they're individually smaller in scope) or... from somewhere else. We didn't want to do that, so the race/class combo effectively becomes the new background choice (along with all the subsequent reactivity)."

So we all start off from the same area, but the world reacts accordingly to our race/class? Or our background changes depending on our race/class as it did in Origins?

That was my first thought, but you never know.
