Exactly! Or, as Sandal would say "Enchantment!"

I'm pretty sure we're going to have runes and potions, even if we can't make them ourselves like we did in DAO. Even in DA2, we ordered them from artisans, and I'm perfectly cool with that, as long as the artisans are chatty. The runes and the formari are my current obsession, though. Interestingly, Sandal is the only person we've met who is capable of rune creation. Tranquil and dwarves who aren't Sandal seem to be able to fold lyrium into rune blanks and set completed runes in armor or weapons, but they can't manufacture the runes themselves (Why give the Tranquil emissary runes for the army if he can make them himself? The enchanter in Vigil's Keep can make runes and set them, but she can't make rune blanks.). But Sandal can do it all. He made a special rune for Hawke as a gift, and if you give him the red lyrium after Varric's act 3 quest, he makes another unique rune. Which kinda makes me think that Sandal is a not your typical dwarf. Not by a long shot.

OMG, just ran across these Cullen limericks I guess I wrote once upon a time. Something old that's new again!

Cullen was a templar quite fair
With very distinctive hair.
Red or gold in some light,
It was also curled tight.
“Made for brushing,” says Bioware.

Cullen, why do you wear a skirt?
Do the drafts help you stay alert?
It must be a chore
That it brushes the floor.
Easy access, Anders might assert.

We should do another challenge of some kind again. Any ideas??

Bwahahaha! Awsome R2, Dragon Age limericks are always the bestest. No idea about what we should do for another challenge, though we are fast approaching 2500 (still unbelievable that I came in at 500pgs and now we're way past 2000) Maybe we can try our hand at creating our own version of GI's Morrigan backstory bit for Cullen. Include all our speculations for the future, and the facts of his life that we are already aware of from previous games? I dunno, that might be something fun that we can all work on together?

I think we already did a back story forever ago, didn't we? (I could be wrong.) What was the last challenge? Party banter? We could do something along the lines of - what would Cullen's reaction be to running into a DA2 character at random, Post Veil Rip ™? Or reaction to the Veil Rip itself? Does he see it up close or from afar?
Let's toss some ideas around! :)

PS - R2 those limericks! Image IPB

LOL thanks!

You know, you just sparked an idea. What if whatever Cullen was doing between 9:37 and 9:40, he's embarassed, or for whatever reason, he doesn't want anyone to know what he was up to?  So, every time he runs into someone from his past he makes up a new lie for where he's been??  There are some really clever folk on this thread who I'm sure could come up  with some doozies. Sort of like how in the movie the Dark Knight, the Joker tells a completely different story every time about how he got his scars... only not creepy. So well maybe nothing like that... :?

I love this!!

I also love the idea that there are things that Cullen would be ashamed of that nobody else in their right minds would find shameful. So much fun space to play in with this idea!!

After reading this I have to admit that the idea of a DA game without runes does seem completely ridiculous. Now I feel silly. Image IPB

I think I just got worried when I read the crafting thing + the "no increasing-over-time thing." False alarm! No chicken littles over here... Image IPB

I like that idea. Maybe he would lie or evade, depending upon personal interpretation of his character?

Hmm, I haven't read that part. I don't disbelieve you! But since runes are such a fascination for me, would you mind posting a link? I'd like to read more.

As far as the "no increasing-over-time thing," that might not be such a bad thing. I admit, I liked how armor that didn't scale with your character forced you to update your look periodically, but some of the outfits were horrific. I'm sure that they'll provide enough variety to satisfy all tastes, so I'm not worried about that this time around, but it will be interesting to read about their plans for upgrading and updating equipment.

And like Lola, I too am hoping that not all of Cullen's wardrobe choices are massive plate. It isn't very cuddly.

Well, we still don't know in what capacity. According to the article GI saw evidence that he and Leliana would be returning.

Ah, I like that. Like, he tells the truth... from a certain point of view, Obi Wan like.

Also, folks could even write him telling the truth. I mean, sky's the limit, so long as it's through the filter of how he would tell someone about it... So it could include some interesting interpretations both of what Cullen would think/feel about that experience as well as how he might interact with the person he's speaking to, whoever you choose.

Aw, crap. I forgot a key word when I was typing that sentence. It was meant to be "no increasing health over time." That was where my concern about not being able to craft runes and potions came from.

The info came from the Game Informer September feature on DA:I which won't be out in print until next month, but it released early for their online subscribers. Let me see if I can find a couple quotes...

"All of the companions have unique visual designs that help make them memorable. No matter how cool a character's initial look might be, one of the fun parts of an RPG is finding new equipment and optimizing it for the entire party. With Inquisition, players can ensure that the hero and the party are properly equipped without sacrificing any characters' signature style. This is possible through an expansion of the crafting system. Taking materials that you find in the world and collect from defeated foes, you can create and customize armor for you and your allies. By focusing on creating cool equipment (instead of potions and runes), players have more of an incentive to experiment with crafting this time around."

Yeah, between this, Greg Ellis' bad-boy leak of himself in the sound booth, and the concept art that looked suspiciously knight-captainly, I am pretty satisfied that we'll see him show up.  Image IPB

Maybe it won't be a big deal, but I'll take what I can get!!

Aha, that's it. I thought I remembered something suggesting there might not be runes this time... Although, I'm not even sure if that's what it's supposed to imply.

LOL Of course... if what the GI article writer saw was that same concept art pic we're not sure is Cullen... we may be left with still that one piece of evidence, GE's VO tweet. Still... it seems pretty likely that he'll show up in some capacity.
