I had another Dragon Age dream. I swear, they are going to kill me one day.

The game came out and I had yet to play it because for some reason I was just too busy. So I'm trying to get on here to find out information about it, and trying to catch up w/ this thread because there was just so many conversations going on. The end result was that Cullen was in the game as a companion, but Cullen turned out to be a fake name he used for this fake persona of his, and he actually was this really crude, totally wild man that jumps into a relationship w/ your character very early on.

....I gotta stop snacking before bed.

Oh my god! That is absolutely frightening and terrible! That anybody reacts that way to something even as simple as changes in a f*cking video game makes me completely nauseous. This is such sad news, though I can understand her decision to leave.

I had a DA dream last night too, but I can't remember what happened during it though.

This makes me sad. Sad and angry. BioWare is losing a talented writer because some players have an enormous sense of entitlement and no sense of decency whatsoever. These aren't fans making these threats. Fans are supportive, not hostile. And if something goes in a direction they don't like, they leave without a fuss. They don't do this.

I wish there was some way I could tell Ms. Hepler how sorry I am that she was driven to this.

lol i think they made a bad decisions when they made the forums, forums are suppose to be on how to make the game better or give some input or whatever but all you see on the forums is ppl b!tching 24/7, I think if most ppl were like the ppl here in the cullen thread the forums would be a better place

It's f*cking disgusting! I'm sorry but if you are making death threats to a developer of a video game because you didn't like it, you're a sick, disturbing individual. It's a video game, get the f*ck over it!

I've played enough video games that disapointed me, but I don't go on a forum or twitter to make threats and insult people. I don't care if this is the sole reason why she left, just the fact that it might have played a role in her decision is infuriating enough.

She'll succeed, I have no doubts about that. She is exceptionally talented, with a gift for showing humanity and difficult choices, and I'm sure she'll have publishers lining up to sign her on. Or that's what they'll be doing if they have sense.

Yeah Batteries those comments are one of the reasons I don't go to the DA wiki comments section anymore. There are nice people like R2 and Wiedzmin, but like three or four posters just **** incessantly about every piece of news and beat you down if you don't agree with them.

I think my biggest complaint is that people are acting like it's either 1. Her fault 2. The hazards of the job 3. A victory in the crusade against people who "ruined" Dragon Age.

Interesting that the first article spins it that she left because of the harassment, when in the Polygon article she says that's not so.

When asked if the harassment led to her depature, Hepler told Polygon "No,
leaving Bioware was for family reasons. I am going to be working on a
text book on narrative design among other game-related freelance
projects."

Regardless of her reasons, I think that's a huge loss to Bioware. She was the writer for DA2!Cullen after all. And Anders. And Sebastian.

On the harassment, I don't want to dive back into the blood pressure raising incident. What happened to her was inexcusable by any standard and hearing the details of the threats against her family is really upsetting. I made a point of sending her a note of support when that all went down. I wish her the best in the future.

Some are saying that it might be because her husband was let go. I would imagine regardless of the perks/love of the job it's a sour gig and she wants a new start.

It was worse than that. She received personal threats at her home as well.

Wow... I remember there being a big brew ha ha a while back but I no idea it was that horrendous! There is no excuse for those comments, threats or behavior. These people are writers/artists. Art is subjective. If you don't like a piece or disagree in some way, move on and find something that better suits your tastes. Outrageous.

I'm pretty sure she was the writer for Anders, and because of his changes in DA2 and what he did at the end that people were attacking her, and blaming her for the plot that they didn't like. Whatever the reason, it's completely inexcusable for fans (or anyone) to behave like that.
