As I recall when you die you just wander the Fade. Or rather that's the hell part I believe.rapscallioness wrote...

so like really off topic and probably strange but:
Does the word "hell" exist in Dragon Age at all? I don't recall it ever being said. I'd hear void and took that as meaning the same thing.
Nvr heard it said that I can recall. Prolly too real world a term. Is the Void and the Fade the same thing? Or....
I know the Eleves call the Fade the Beyond, but can't remember in what context Void was used.

That's what I thought. Hell does flow much more smoothly compared to void though. If I'm reading something and someone says "void with that!", I usually have to do a double take because it sounds so off.
That is a rather nifty list, too. Thanks!
If I'm remembering right, the only person that ever says it is Templar Hugh in DAII when you're asking him and the other recruits about Wilmod. Doesn't seem like people talk about the Void a lot. I thought it sounded kind of awkward, too. *shrugs*

Isabela: So, I've never understood why the Chantry says if you're good, you'll be taken up to the Maker's side.
Sebastian: Those who die with the sins cleansed from their souls will walk beside the Maker in eternity.
Isabela: That doesn't sound fun!
Isabela: If they really want people to be good, shouldn't they offer an afterlife with... lakes of wine and a dozen naked virgins?
Sebastian: Anyone who wants that will be going to the Void.
Isabela: Sounds like that's where all the good parties will be.
Also, what Leliana says:
Leliana: "Only those who are worthy are brought to the Maker's side. So many other sad souls are left to wander in the void, hopeless and forever lost."

The Fade is a funky kinda place with a lot of different "planes" it seems, for those that are comfortable with DnD terminology. As far as I know, the Maker still lives in a part of the Fade, so that's where the good souls go when they die, but it seems to be separated from the place people go when they dream, because it isn't like that ocean in Pirates of the Carribean III. You don't pass dead people while you're there, and people who are well and truly dead can't be brought back the way lost dreamers can be. The Void doesn't seem to be either of those places, or even a place at all. More like the space between one moment and the next than any kind of real or symbolic place. People who go to the Void are simply gone.Shades_Of_Pale wrote...
Would the Fade be like Purgatory or their version of Heaven? I mean, being at the Maker's side would the heaven of Thedas, so I think the Fade is Purgatory....hmm.
I headcanon that the dying cross through the Fade on their way to death, which is why spirit healers enlist the help of Fade-dwelling spirits of compassion to bring them back, but there's nothing official to support that idea.

So what do they do at the Maker's side? Is it just a big line and they all stand around looking smug because they're on this side of the velvet rope? Is there a party? Gah, I hope they have cocktails available.
Especially weird when you consider that he had this big empty Golden City waiting for occupants and now he's been displaced from it.
So we have... a Golden Hotel Room? A Golden Campround? A Golden RV?

Yeah, this is what I've understood from the lore too, although I think the underlined part of your headcanon is actually *canon* canon.
We do know that Niall's body died while his spirit was in the Fade in DA:O and he seemed to stay there. A character in one of the books chooses to stay in the Fade rather than return to his body because he's happier in his fantasy than he was in his real life. It was completely

I'm pretty sure she was the writer for Anders, and because of his changes in DA2 and what he did at the end that people were attacking her, and blaming her for the plot that they didn't like. Whatever the reason, it's completely inexcusable for fans (or anyone) to behave like that.
