That's what I thought. Hell does flow much more smoothly compared to void though. If I'm reading something and someone says "void with that!", I usually have to do a double take because it sounds so off.

Nvr heard it said that I can recall. Prolly too real world a term. Is the Void and the Fade the same thing? Or....

I know the Eleves call the Fade the Beyond, but can't remember in what context Void was used.

As I recall when you die you just wander the Fade. Or rather that's the hell part I believe.

If I'm remembering right, the only person that ever says it is Templar Hugh in DAII when you're asking him and the other recruits about Wilmod. Doesn't seem like people talk about the Void a lot. I thought it sounded kind of awkward, too. *shrugs*

I like the idea of the void being the Thedas version of hell. I mean, clearly when you die in DA your soul goes back to the Fade (or the stone if you're a Dwarf lol). So I guess the void would be something bad, like somewhere you'd cease to exist at all or something.

Would the Fade be like Purgatory or their version of Heaven? I mean, being at the Maker's side would the heaven of Thedas, so I think the Fade is Purgatory....hmm.

The Fade is a funky kinda place with a lot of different "planes" it seems, for those that are comfortable with DnD terminology. As far as I know, the Maker still lives in a part of the Fade, so that's where the good souls go when they die, but it seems to be separated from the place people go when they dream, because it isn't like that ocean in Pirates of the Carribean III. You don't pass dead people while you're there, and people who are well and truly dead can't be brought back the way lost dreamers can be. The Void doesn't seem to be either of those places, or even a place at all. More like the space between one moment and the next than any kind of real or symbolic place. People who go to the Void are simply gone.

I headcanon that the dying cross through the Fade on their way to death, which is why spirit healers enlist the help of Fade-dwelling spirits of compassion to bring them back, but there's nothing official to support that idea.

Yeah, this is what I've understood from the lore too, although I think the underlined part of your headcanon is actually *canon* canon.

We do know that Niall's body died while his spirit was in the Fade in DA:O and he seemed to stay there. A character in one of the books chooses to stay in the Fade rather than return to his body because he's happier in his fantasy than he was in his real life. It was completely .
