That's probably the most likely. It's not like people haven't been charmed and possessed before. Iduna almost got Hawke to kill him/herself with his/her own knife.
As an unfortunate plot twist, being an extremely effective Inquisitor gains you extra legions of capable followers.
... who then become possessed or enchanted and come back to hunt you in greater strength at the end. Meheheh!!

You have awakened the speculation beast.....hurrrrr...Maybe peace talks are called and while we're there the Chantry and or Templars sabotage the discussion. For whatever reason Adamant is chosen as a neutral area where the groups attempted to parlay, but when the coup or ambush occurs it weakens the veil.Chanda wrote...

We already know the fortress has a thin veil so it splits maybe because of the Knight-Commander or Warden-Commander does something and the resulting fire storm and influx of demons kills everyone, but your awesomness gets you out of danger.
As for the Inquisition maybe their leader dies and you promote yourself? But that would conflict with the "lead from the start" thing.
It would lend credence to the whole Warden thing. Maybe we are recruits, but didn't go through the joining?Chanda wrote...
