Damn, got all excited with the "Pursue Commander-Such-and-Such Clablahblah".
In all seriousness, I remain adamant that we'll get Cullen as a companion. The fan demand for him is *huge*, not to mention his likeness has been seen in not one but two pieces of concept art. He probably won't get announced til around last, though. Gaider would want to watch us sweat and panic and speculate for as long as possible, that troll.

this is true. yes. *raps tries desperately not to cry*

Have faith, Raps! :wizard:

i'm trying. and hey, it's not over til it's over, right? so, we'll see.

I don't think there's a Templar ring there just to look pretty. I'm pretty sure Cullen is in the game. He's our Templar. :)

Wow, I missed an awful lot while I was in the lab... which isn't a bad thing. Knight-Commander Cullen as a minor boss battle would have done me in.

My speculation:

Wiedz, what makes you think it would be there ? Maybe it's near the abyssal rift? Or Anderfels?

Maybe. But this is a soldier from Tevinter. Mike has shown a map with Solas - http://www.dragon-ag...t_by_Ilidan.jpg

Anderfels is located in the North, and Bioware will be focused on South in Dragon Age: Inquisition. So there will not be Anderfels.

SO you're saying that's the only part of the Tevinter in MLaw's big red circle from PAX? Hmm... curious. Do we know if the Silent Plains are desert like?

LOL I think they very well could have put a templar ring on the dudebro just to look pretty. We've already  been told that he's just a representation of the call to adventure. The rings could just be an aesthetic representation of the factions involved in the game. Doesn't mean they're companions...

That's what I'm thinking as well. Even if it weren't, who's to say if during game play the Inquisitor wouldn't have the need to masquerade as a Templar to get into X,Y or Z? Tell me if I'm incorrect... but I recall someone somewhere saying we may need to utilize quite a bit of sneakiness during this game.

Ah, you said my favorite word for DA:I (no, it's not templar...): MASQUERADE!

I know, that's not much, considering it's concept art. But it's still on the wall at Bioware! :o (At least it was at the time of the GI video)

By the way, Cullen is a two-handed sword wielder. If that makes you feel any better about the other sword and shield warriors out there that we've seen.

I don't really care if he wields a staple gun, so long as he's in the game.

It looks like it says "Venatori Gladiator", with the same look Wiedz pointed out. Hmm...

And, these dudes are fighting out in the desert with the lion fortress with the griffons.

So, would this suggest that the lion fortress is wherever these Venatori are...? Is there a Warden fortress in the Silent Plains? Or, could this be Adamant?

Yeah, I'm sorta expecting him to stick with sword and board instead of going back to DA:O's two-handing.

Just saying that we don't know we have a templar at all, nor if that's Cullen. Chickens, not yet hatched.

Okay, I'm just thinking aloud here:

Origins, we had

2 Mages: Wynne and Morrigan
2 Rogues: Leliana and Zevran
3 Warriors: Alistair, Sten, and Oghren.

Of the three warriors, Alistair was sword and shield, Sten I believe was two-handed, and Oghren was 2 handed.

In DA2, we had

3 Mages: Bethany, Anders and Merrill
2 Rogues: Varric and Isabela, (3 if you had the Sebastian DLC)
3 Warriors: Carver, Aveline and Fenris

Of the warriors, Aveline was sword and shield, Carver and Fenris were two-handed. Granted, if you were a rogue or warrior yourself, you lost Carver, and either way later in the story you lose both siblings anyway, but I'm still counting them.

Inquisition, we have so far...

1 Mage: Vivienne
2 Rogues: Varric and Sera
2 Warriors: Cassandra and Grey Warden

Of the two warriors, Grey Warden is sword and shield...Cassandra appears to be a two-handed sword wielder, from the concept arts that I've seen. Although in Dawn of the Seeker, she seems to have a sword and shield.

So if Cullen is to be a companion, I think there's still room for a two-handed wielder in the companion list.

Okay, maybe I messed that up. But there's still room for him if he's a sword and shield or a two-handed sword wielder, because there's only one of each right now for Inquisition.

As far as Adamant is concerned, maybe as an Inquisitor with some sort of say in the Mage/Templar war, maybe we're looking for clues about reversing Tranquility for the Mages? Especially if Vivienne is in our party...? Another long shot.

You have awakened the speculation beast.....hurrrrr...Maybe peace talks are called and while we're there the Chantry and or Templars sabotage the discussion. For whatever reason Adamant is chosen as a neutral area where the groups attempted to parlay, but when the coup or ambush occurs it weakens the veil.

We already know the fortress has a thin veil so it splits maybe because of the Knight-Commander or Warden-Commander does something and the resulting fire storm and influx of demons kills everyone, but your awesomness gets you out of danger.

As for the Inquisition maybe their leader dies and you promote yourself? But that would conflict with the "lead from the start" thing.

I could see "reclaiming" Adamant fortress from evil or something, or cleansing it, and we make it worse and rip the already thin Veil. Honestly... I have a hard time imagining it as a neutral place for peace talks. But I could see an investigation sent there to pick up the pieces from Asunder.

Well I imagine it could just be their testing grounds for new enemy types or just the place we'll see in the game's demo.

I mean, it's not controlled by anyone that we know of and possibly far enough away from Val Royeaux, Andorhal's Reach and wherever the templars are held up that it is as good as any other place.

I'm just so excited :D

Excuse me but ahem SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE

LOL Agree! Going to Adamant is pretty exciting business. I need to go back and look up the description in Asunder. I can't help but wonder if perhaps that's the desert fortress we're seeing, since it's an old GW stronghold.

I think so, too. I was discouraged when I saw the GW guy, but I'm over that now.

It's only the middle of August. We've got two more weeks of chances to catch sneak peeks of our boy :)

I'm kinda wondering if that's an old Orlesian fort since there is that lion statue.

Well, we don't know that's Cassandra, either, but she looks as much like Cassandra as that guy looks like Cullen. In all honesty.

The only thing is, even if it's incredibly likely that this is Cullen, it says nothing about whether or not he's a companion.

"Adamant fortress was slowly coming into view, its vague outline discernible through the blowing sand. It wasn't large but, through sturdiness and defensibility, had clearly earned its name. Tall walls of dark jetstone, and a massive gate with archer towers on either side. It perched almost precariously on the edge of the chasm, like a bird of prey waiting to swoop down upon its victim. Any attack against the place could only come from one direction--unless it came out of the chasm itself, of course, and considering its history, that wasn't implausible."  DA: Asunder, p. 168
