I'm kinda wondering if that's an old Orlesian fort since there is that lion statue.

Could be. It is awfully ornate. I wouldn't think Wardens would have time or interest in such frivolity. Image IPB

Edit - Redacted on account of previously unseen gryphons.

It looks like it says "Venatori Gladiator", with the same look Wiedz pointed out. Hmm...

And, these dudes are fighting out in the desert with the lion fortress with the griffons.

So, would this suggest that the lion fortress is wherever these Venatori are...? Is there a Warden fortress in the Silent Plains? Or, could this be Adamant?

I'm kinda wondering if that's an old Orlesian fort since there is that lion statue.

Why would Orlesians have Grey Warden griffons, tho? Because are the same griffons as we saw in Legacy, right? It could be Orlesian Grey Wardens... or belonged to one faction before the other...?

Just saying that we don't know we have a templar at all, nor if that's Cullen. Chickens, not yet hatched.

Well, we don't know that's Cassandra, either, but she looks as much like Cassandra as that guy looks like Cullen. In all honesty.

The only thing is, even if it's incredibly likely that this is Cullen, it says nothing about whether or not he's a companion.

Yes.

As far as Adamant is concerned, maybe as an Inquisitor with some sort of say in the Mage/Templar war, maybe we're looking for clues about reversing Tranquility for the Mages? Especially if Vivienne is in our party...? Another long shot.

You have awakened the speculation beast.....hurrrrr...Maybe peace talks are called and while we're there the Chantry and or Templars sabotage the discussion. For whatever reason Adamant is chosen as a neutral area where the groups attempted to parlay, but when the coup or ambush occurs it weakens the veil.

We already know the fortress has a thin veil so it splits maybe because of the Knight-Commander or Warden-Commander does something and the resulting fire storm and influx of demons kills everyone, but your awesomness gets you out of danger.

As for the Inquisition maybe their leader dies and you promote yourself? But that would conflict with the "lead from the start" thing.

I could see "reclaiming" Adamant fortress from evil or something, or cleansing it, and we make it worse and rip the already thin Veil. Honestly... I have a hard time imagining it as a neutral place for peace talks. But I could see an investigation sent there to pick up the pieces from Asunder.

Well I imagine it could just be their testing grounds for new enemy types or just the place we'll see in the game's demo.

I mean, it's not controlled by anyone that we know of and possibly far enough away from Val Royeaux, Andorhal's Reach and wherever the templars are held up that it is as good as any other place.

I'm just so excited :D

Excuse me but ahem SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE

LOL Agree! Going to Adamant is pretty exciting business. I need to go back and look up the description in Asunder. I can't help but wonder if perhaps that's the desert fortress we're seeing, since it's an old GW stronghold.

I'd be surprised if it wasn't,  but ya never know lol. I love the rogue Inquisitor's robes and those daggers!

Honestly, I think we need to "steel ourselves for what is to come" because it's certainly looking less and less likely that he'll be a companion with every companion they announce, and every "accidental" character that manages to slip into the videos.

Getting over excited and assuming that it's "definitely" him could end in upset. We know he's in the game in some capacity, but that's all we've really got for the time being.

"Adamant fortress was slowly coming into view, its vague outline discernible through the blowing sand. It wasn't large but, through sturdiness and defensibility, had clearly earned its name. Tall walls of dark jetstone, and a massive gate with archer towers on either side. It perched almost precariously on the edge of the chasm, like a bird of prey waiting to swoop down upon its victim. Any attack against the place could only come from one direction--unless it came out of the chasm itself, of course, and considering its history, that wasn't implausible."  DA: Asunder, p. 168

So... I'm torn. Those walls don't look like they're made from "dark jetstone." Also, the chasm is supposed to be a huge obvious hole in the ground. So maybe not.

@R2 Orlesian Grey Wardens are my guess though I'm honestly reaching. They could also be two different forts in the same desert though right? We might build it to be able to oversee the Abyssal Reach or even just to keep watch over the region. We seem to have at least two castles.

I think this is more fitting to the description for Adamant:

The only problem is that it looks snowy with waterfalls, not like a blighted desert with sand blowing around...

On the other hand, apparently around Adamant, the winds and blowing sand die down at night.

And, could that rise of land at the lefthand side of the fortress be the edge of the chasm...?

I was thinking rebuilding due to the scaffolding and black smoke there. Still pondering the triangle on the wall, to the Qunari's right.

Mmm.... that looks even less like Adamant to me. No archer towers, no Grey Warden influence, no abyssal chasm, no desert, no blowy sand, relatively intact, reached by a bridge... None of that seems to match the description of Adamant at all...

That and Adamant Fortress doesn't look like that, lol.

I just noticed the railing at the top of the image, especially when you zoom in. It's very ornate, and it looks a lot like the same railing that was used in the fortress for the Adamant quest in the gameplay video, where you're pursuing Warden Commander C.

Edit: At 2:47 you can see the railings. I think it's same place. It's definitely the same fortress in the background when the Inquisitor is fighting the Venatori.

Interestingly, the blowing black smoke is also in the description in Asunder. LOL Since Shale is burning bodies.

Yeah that line is what sort of defeats the possibility that we refurbish Adamant, but we're definitely going there right? I wonder how many abandoned castles there are?

Huh, Chanda, good eye. That could very well be the same railing from the top of that tall tower.

Does that enemy title say "Warden Marksman"? Hmmm...

Also, here, the triangley shaped top of the wall is similar.

Yes!! I thought I was the only one who saw that. Indeed. He fights  Warden Marksman, and then a Shade pops up. Inquisitor kills them all... and then levels up to lev 3. So, it looks like perhaps the wardens, under this Warden Command Carvelldsbldkd, have been possessed or something?

Huh... I thought it was a longshot, but I'm now completely convinced that fortress is Adamant fortress!

(Unless, of course, the fact that it says "Adamant" doesn't correspond to place in Asunder, but instead is an actual adjective for describing the quest...?)

So... Why is someone building a giant lion on the fortress? Is that something that we're doing to decorate, after we take it over? Maybe we can choose to put griffons and lions and other stuff.

Well, I think Danny could be right. It just happens to be an Orlesian Grey Warden base. In Asunder, it is described as an Orlesian castle.

They do not, however, refer to it having a lion motif.

LOL I also learned how to pronounce it... because in the book they refer to it being named for the adjective... :P
