I remember posing the possibility that the game might start in the Adamant Fortress a million years ago, and I was laughed off the block. Of course, that's because I had the Adamant Fortress confused with Andoral's Reach, and the premise was completely different, so that isn't saying much, but I did use the word in a sentence. Do I get points for trying?meanieweenie wrote...
I think you're right on Adamant, R2. (An actual place in Asunder, not the adjective! lol)R2s Muse wrote...
Huh... I thought it was a longshot, but I'm now completely convinced that fortress is Adamant fortress!
(Unless, of course, the fact that it says "Adamant" doesn't correspond to place in Asunder, but instead is an actual adjective for describing the quest...?)

The walls also have that triangley shape in the crenelations on top, besides the griffons and the strange pointy dagger tower thingies.
On the other hand... maybe all GW fortresses have those designs...

I'm more confused about why there would be gladiators in the desert at all. That's usually a spectator sport, isn't it? On the other hand, think about the tailgate parties!R2s Muse wrote...
So, here's the next thing that doesn't make sense. Why fight both Wardens and Venatori? Which faction is the actual enemy there...? Or could the devs have just called up the Venatori as a demo in the desert outside Adamant? Kind of like how the qunari dude in the trailer doesn't actually appear at the weird owl lightning fortress.
I am sorry. I seem to be in one of those ridiculously flippant moods and am unable to take anything at all seriously. I'm going to go prowl the DAI forum and laugh at all the things.
Or perhaps watch all the videos and look at all the screenshots because there are too many fortresses and castles to keep track of.

For example, during the second combat sequence, the"Basic Combat" one that Mike Laidlaw narrates over, where Vivienne and Sera seem to be fighting a wall of fire, Sera's bow has a bowstring. It's half an inch thick in terms of scale and it glows like the bow, but that should shut the "Make it like XYZ game!" folks up.

Oh, I'm not going away! (Unless you want me to...) I'm just looking at things with the intention of amusing myself.

so..... OMG... I may have to take back everything I said about how Cassandra isn't attacking Grey Wardens, after seeing our Inquisitor fighting Wardens. Also... now that we've studied the walls of that fortress check out this shot from the trailer...

Oh, you're right! Why the heck are we fighting Grey Wardens? Maybe that's why we're pursuing Warden Commander Clavel... We have to convince him to join the Inquisition and let us use all of his resources, including his fortress as a home base? And maybe that is the older warden in our party. He's in the party at level 3 in the video, we're pursuing him at level 2.

1 Seeing Varric and Cassandra's names on the screen makes me happy.
2 This is the most ridiculous thing to obsess about, but I like round portraits.
3 The compass will drive me insane. It is known.
4 The placement of the experience bar... ugh. I hope it's movable.
5 The placement of this, I like. Quests (and map locations) should be more obvious.
6 24 FPS? Are you serious?
7 Not a clue what this is.
8 Please let this stay. I want to see my system tray, adjust volume, tell the time, etc. without minimizing.
9 Yay, clutter! The thing that bothered me most - more than any other single thing in DA2 - was the corrugated cardboard wall surfaces. I could live with everything else, but I couldn't bear the unbroken planes of flat, featureless wall. I need clutter.

Seriously, I think he was just creating encounters for the sake of the video. He was pulling them in from a menu and placing them with his toolset.Danny Boy 7 wrote...

Just curious but what's up with the Inquisitor's weird hood?
He or She is probably a rogue.
If you recall the player types that were posted on the wall, the one for rogues had the character's outline and they were wearing a similar-styled hood.

Me to, though a faction of scorpion riding, dragon worshipping Tevinters really interests me.

I still think that Adamant mission says "Persue Knight-Commander Cullen"
And by 'persue' I'm not taking it in the negative 'track-him-down-like-a-criminal' definition. I'm thinking more along the lines of the 'go-after-him-to-join-your-ranks' definition.
Pleasant dreams, y'all.
