The Grey Warden is fairly older though, so he might just fill a mentor role like Duncan did, maybe? I mean if some people are using the excuse that Cullen is too old to be a LI then what will they do if the Grey Warden guy will join us and be a potential LI?

Also, maybe we can pick and choose our companions this time? I mean they said we can be pro or anti Chantry and unless the Divine does something totally screwed up, I can't see Cassandra help an Inquisitor that is anti Chantry.

I'm guessing for at least 2 male LI's and to be honest I don't think Varric will be one and other then him we haven't had anyone else confirmed.

Either way, we wont know for sure until BioWare confirms the companions.

I assume that at the start of Inquisition the divine is killed and replaced by someone with malicious intent, hence Cassandra's founding of the Inquisition. She seems like a mandatory companion to me. 

And I do agree with the LI thing, It's been confusing me as well. When it comes to female LI's Cassandra and Vivienne both seem to be likely candidates, but I have no idea who the male ones will be as neither Varric, Grey Warden or Oxman seem like they will be LI's. I'm thinking we will have a male mage who is one (I saw a brilliant suggestion on another thread that he be a male Elven magister, but as I said there I don't want to get my hopes up). But even then there will probably be at least 2. 

I'm sure it will all make sense once the game is out, but for the moment I'm a bit stumped.

@EJ107: first, welcome! All good points, along with Lola's that Cullen is a Cassandra clone in some thematic ways. The GI article quoted DG that they want the followers to encapsulate a certain world view. So Cass may have templar covered. Or not! That being said we still don't know how many companions this time around. So... It could happen! Although I think NPC is probably more likely.

well.. so much for options of LI on the female side if we get barely 2 that are romance-able for women..then i might fear that i will be "forced" to play as a dude since i see they might have more options for them ...

I think it's too soon to start worrying about the companions. So far we only know 3 for sure and although the survey has been pretty right on, there still could be companions we've never heard hide nor hair of. Whatever happens, I highly doubt BW would disadvantage those who want to romance a dude vs. those who want to romance a woman. Their emphasis on inclusivity suggests to me that we'll have at least as many options as we had in DA2.

Soul patch trident guy (unless that ends up being Dorian).  Cole. Maybe Chill elf dude from the stabbing concept art (unless that's Dorian instead).

Mary Kirby's comment about Bianca raises a big ole question mark on Varric's relative availability. :shrug: Only one that seems to have a big red "NO" written across him, to me, is Iron Bull, given all the qunari fetish comments from DG et al. But even that could be revisited.

idk why but i get the feeling  that this time around will be more females then males i mean there is Cass Viv Sera and Scribe girl or whatever and males are Varric Iron bull maybe  and the gray warden not sure if Dorian will be in  but if he is personally so far im not very pleased with the male companions ...looks like no romances for me this game or maybe i will just play asa guy and romance Cassandra i guess...

There is the option you could get an additional companion through DLC, which tends to happen with ME. And they could be romanceable (like Sebastian).

Well, I don't think it surprises anyone that any official marketing info has focused more heavily on the women so far (3 of 4)... But those are pretty small number statistics. I wouldn't borrow worry until it's needed .

True, but he/she would be an extra at best. Bioware wouldn't give those who would romance a male less options and then say "the only way to have the same ammount of options is to buy this character!"

Oh of course! I'm speculating also... that their statistical probability of being a LI is a little higher, until we know more. I'm *really* curious about Varric's situation now. Esp given DG's pretty strong "NO." about Varric's romanceability previously.  OH, and his extended cake metaphor over the crazy fans wanting to romance Varric... <_<

yea well hopefully they will change it abit for the female player to give us atleast one attractive dude or like Newschmoo said  maybe  they will have a decent guy in a DLC

For now here is what i think about the current male companions

• Varric im not sure i could romance him since he had the past with Bianca thats a bit of a turn off for me and also another reason I couldnt romance him is because i see him more as a friend/brother  and im just not intrested in him in a more romantic way

• Gray Warden as you guys have mentioned he seems more of a mentor and i would concinder him more like Wynne or Duncan  and plus i dont really like men with long beards lol thats just me tho

• IronBull idk i just dont see him as a LI  but even if he is im not into that kind of stuff so there is another no go for me

• And Dorian not sure what to think of him since we dont know much about him but from the concept art from the leaked survey i dont really liked how he looked

So yea here is hoping that they will have atleast one guy that will be decent in some form of a DLC or something

And I would be totally happy if those boys had a higher chance of being romance options than I think they do. Beardy Grey Warden, Varric, and that Qunari are mighty, mighty fine. Though I would ask any of them to step down if it meant Cullen was a companion and LI.

I had a terrible dream last night that DG actually came into this thread and said, basically, that he just couldn't handle watching us stew anymore, and so he had to come and tell us that Cullen would not be a companion and LI. He added that he wanted him to be initially, and there were plans to make it happen, but then they decided it wasn't working, and so Cullen was out. I felt so disappointed, but also relieved in some way, like the pressure had been relieved. I woke up half-believing that this had really happened, and I was pretty depressed for a few minutes LOL

EDIT: To be honest, the dream was so vivid, and the feeling so real, I'm still not entirely sure this did not happen lol

I am probably too excited about new things we learn about the game to worry about LIs. So far I am liking what I am seeing and hope that the moment I will start to get more curious about romances, will be the moment we are on a verge of knowing them all :] At the end of the day, DA team never disappointed me in the companions/LIs department, so this is the part I am least worried about (save for my hopeful curiosity, whether Cullen will be a companion/LI). As for having two potential female LIs opposed to two unlikely male LIs, they usually start with targeting male population, so no surprise here. And I wouldn't mind having Varric or GW guy as a LI. Have hope guys :] #hugglesalltheanxious

Edit: Just to add, I would love to see Cullen as a companion/LI but hey, if he is not maybe there will be someone equally as exciting. Sometimes I feel that since I am so fixated on existing characters I love, I am undermining the potential of the new ones

I trust the writers to do some amazing, well, writing. Even so, it's what I care most about, so I'm on pins and needles. And I have fears that what I find interesting in a LI the writers won't agree with, so I'll end up with someone like Varric and bald elf guy lol See, either or both of those would be awesome in some people's minds. But for me it would be a disaster. That's sort of what I worry about.
