Oh hai Avilia! :D And thanks to R2s Muse and Bekkael! *salutes back*

And with my second question I was indeed more thinking about the decision-makers ingame.

Cullen hate-thread? Idk, I don't even remember the threads' title, but someone said he "kidnapped" Bethany and that it would be on the same level as Thrask et al. kidnapping her.  o_O

So, Jen Hepler wrote (parts of) him? Why am I not surprised? This woman is incredible! :wizard:

Interesting. Yes, welcome to the ignominious duty of being a fan of someone who's a little... er controversial. LOL At least we now have Ser David Gaider agreeing the Cullen is "reasonable," hopefully finally dispelling all that creepy talk he started back during DA:O.

Indeed. She has even told us (or rather our Knight-Commander Galagraphia) that we'll see some kind of wrap up to his story - altho, argh, I can't seem to find the post for that.

New pic for the new page ... this one is so random, it just cracks me up.

LOL poor Cullen! He looks elated and confused. :D

I have to admit, I thought he was creepy myself for a long time, creepy but cute (but not because of David Gaider's comments). *ducks and flees* jk

@R2 I so wish we could do that in game - even if only for the reaction of our companions...tee hee

@Rapunzel - you flee now, but you'll be back, oh yes, you'll be back ;-)

@R2, you can't find Jennifer Hepler's answer, because it's in my message box, but I can quote it again :)

I can't answer these, because I'm on maternity leave right now, so I'm not up on what is currently being decided about the character. But rest assured, you will learn what happens to him post-Meredith. :)

I'm keeping it close to my heart :) And I think we could try to tweet David Gaider about Cullen, but he will never answer, because he's so mysterious :) And because The Maker was disappointed in his children and turned his back on us and etc. :) I'm glad he doesn't think Cullen is creepy at least. I was afraid BioWare would make him crazy and would force us to kill him.

Awesome, thanks, Gala. I couldn't find the post where you told us what she said!

How great would it be to get additional DG Cullen info? I'd like to think the devs check in on us from time to time, but haven't seen anything so horribly egregious that they need to answer/correct us. LOL A fangirl can hope!

I think it's easy to feel he's a bit creepy, just from the short mage origin in DA:O. My Amell really liked him but pretty much wrote him off after the tower debacle and his post-traumatic stress ranting. Imagine my elation when he showed up in DA2, recovered, more mature and just wonderful all around! My Hawke never stood a chance against his chivalrous and solicitous ways.

I agree. Let me elaborate: I didn't think Cullen was creepy per se; it was more his function as "executive oppressor" within the system the chantry represents. I'm not fond of the chantry's political machinations and generally sympathizing with the mages within the circles ( I <3 underdogs).
So it is usually not fitting for my characters, moreso my mages to have a crush on him. That's what I meant with creepy - just not my cup of tea.
But I couldn't blame him personally, because of his indoctrination (he probably joined the Templars at a very young age) and his trauma after witnessing the horror in Kinloch Hold.
He could have become a mage-hating weirdo a la Ser Alrik - but he didn't. In fact, in Kirkwall he seemed to be more reflecting, objective and sympathetic than before his terrible experiences with mages - I really respect that.
And of course he is cute!...:o (my current Hawke just met him and wants to show him some real magic, teehee)

@ rapunzel, well put. My Amell and most of my Hawkes are mage supporters too.

@rapunzel, yeah, I can relate. My last few Hawke's since I've become Cullen obsessed have been really hard to RP, because they really should be all about fighting the power... instead of sighing every time he tells the Maker to watch over me.

@Bekk - yeah, more Twisted! We need some more happy for them.

Yeah, I was spamming Jen, who writes for Cullen's ask blog, with Cullen postcards. They are no fun without the context, I think. But somehow we ended up discussing whether Cullen was sleeping with Meredith or no, and I tweeted to David Gaider about it, and he said they didn't have anything. I think it was so sweet of him that he answered, this knowledge will definitely improve my night sleep.

OK, templar experts, I have a question I desperately need help on.

I'm trying to figure out how Templars drain mana. Reading through the templar talents that Carver et al.  have, most seem to use spirit energy to do their damage - like Holy Smite, for example. I had thought this was how they also drained mana, because I could SWEAR I saw a load hint that said that spirit now drains mana, instead of how electricity did this in DA:O. But I can't find evidence for this anywhere in the internets... and it's honestly starting to drive me crazy. I asked over in the strategy forum, but no joy. I've done the scary thing of trying to find the loadhints in the game code but failed to find them. Now I'm trying to pay attention to the load screens again but  it's slow going...

So, has anyone else seen this hint...? Or am I just imagining things ?? Or, any other thoughts on how they drain mana? Is it likely just something they do separately from their talents in-game, do you think?

Now, in full disclosure, my interest is for lore reasons, not hardcore game mechanics, so I can just fudge it if need be... it's more the principle now...  Many thanks in advance!

Oh, thank the maker.  I saw you  guys talking about that on Tumbler and it left me feeling a little sick.  I can see how the relationship can be construed as either mentor/student or knockin boots.  Glad DG cleared it up.  Eiether way, I think Merideth totally had the hots for him, he was just too oblivious to notice.

@R2, in DAO it was spirit magic for mages. Templars were draining mana with every hit (that's why my Amell makes so many jokes about how exhausting it may be to sleep with a templar). In DA comic templars had crystals which were draining mana or preventing mages from casting. In DA2 they use one of their active abilities to drain, I think it's holy smite.
p.s. I'm so tired, sorry for mistakes! *dies*

I'd never thought of Meredith and Cullen being involved in that way. They're both serious rule followers and that kind of behavior is against the rules.

I think Meredith had maternal feelings for Cullen which is why she looks so shattered when he stands up to her at the end.

Just imho as always.

One day of silence? Where's everybody?
I have another NSFW picture, so I'll just leave a link here.
Cullen disapproves of it of course:
