The nudity doesn't bother me, either, although the portrayal of women does. Mostly, what drives me insane is trying to roleplay somebody else's PC. I don't want to play Geralt. I want to play my own character, and that's something the Witcher is never going to let me do. While I enjoy playing heterosexual males as one option of many, a steady diet of it gets really, really old surprisingly quickly. It isn't about getting to know your companions and learning to love them, it's about watching Geralt frolic in his world, with his dudebros and his harem. I suppose it's roleplaying in the sense that the player is assuming a role. It just isn't one I enjoy.

OMGosh, A++ 100. Bravo :wizard:

Oooh. I hope that means that Varric has moved on from "Bro-fist" BFF to "French-kiss" territory. That would be awesome.

Unlikely if Bianca really is gonna show up in DAI.

If she only shows up in the Fade, that's just fine with me.

Mary Kirby suggested that Bianca is not dead. In the comic it only says that they never managed to escape from the Merchants guild, not that she died. Mary then went on to suggest that we may hear her side of the story in-game.

I know! But it doesn't mean that I can't hope for a little one-on-one action with Varric! :D Even if Bianca does happen to break up the party.

OMG If I see one more person mention the f***ing Witcher on this forum, I'm gonna throw my f***ing laptop out the window. *growls*

They're still comparing the two games when neither have even come out yet? Ridiculous. If anything, with all this latest information from DAI, the game couldn't be any different from The Witcher 3 if it tried.

The only similarities is both are in a medieval-esc setting, there are Elves and Dwarves, and both Geralt and the Inquisitor get to ride around on a mounts (which is to be expected with games that are more open world). Beyond that the stories are both completely different, as is everything else.

Thank the gods. I really dislike The Witcher. I keep trying to like it... and then it goes and does something that makes me rage.

The nudity didn't bother me, I just couldn't get into the game because BioWare have spoilt me with their companions, interactions and character-centric plots.

The nudity doesn't bother me, either, although the portrayal of women does. Mostly, what drives me insane is trying to roleplay somebody else's PC. I don't want to play Geralt. I want to play my own character, and that's something the Witcher is never going to let me do. I suppose it's roleplaying in the sense that the player is assuming a role. It just isn't one I enjoy.

And that, pretty much, is why I play BioWare games. I can play any combination of gender/orientation I like, and the personality and values are pretty much mine to shape.

The thing about The Witcher games is that it's based on the books, so Geralt was already a character in his own right before they started making the games, which is obviously one of the reasons why we can't make our own protagonist etc.

That's really the only thing that massively annoys me about the comparison between The Witcher 3 and DAI, because DAI isn't based on a popular book/tv series, the protagonist is someone we create and shape to suit us (which I prefer), Geralt is supposed to be as he is because they've kept him true to his character, just like the other returning characters do.

I'm definitely gonna get the collectors edition of DAI, after everything I feel it would only be right.

That is definitely a given. I really think the CE pre-orders are going to sell out instantly and any that will become available with show up on ebay with astronomical prices.

Yeah, that's my guess too. I'm gonna keep my ear to the ground for the pre-order announcement and try to place my order straight away. How much do CE usually cost anyway?

I'd expect around 80 quid. In my experience, things in the UK cost the same as they do in the States, but in pounds, not in dollars.

It depends on what is included. When I picked up the CE for Star Wars The Old Republic the price was about $150 US. Of course the fact that it had a map, game soundtrack and statue of the main villain in the game definitely upped the price. The CE for Elder Scrolls Skyrim had (among other things) a statue of a dragon and a big map. The "Signature Edition" of Dragon Age ][, however, went for about $60 due to the fact that the items were for in-game use.

Do I think that they'll pull out all the stops for DA:I? Ohhhh, yeah. I'm guessing around the $125-$150 price range for the super-deluxe-CE.

If Mage Tarot is right, expect the same in GBP... and add VAT. Because they do rake you over the coals with that.

I think I paid about $100 Au for the signature edition of DA2 (can't remember really but I think that's about right - it was something like that)

I'll pay whatever they want for DAI, when I get so much time out of their games (not to mention all the forum-ing I do) I don't really care what they charge. I mean if it was like $500 I'd have to think long and hard (Ok I'd still buy it....but I'd be hiding the receipt from my Hubby) about it but if it's normal price or a little over the odds - I don't really care.

Just to give you a general idea what a CE can contain (and at the risk of temporarily derailing the thread) here are pics of the aforementioned Star Wars and Skyrim CE's.

I'd still buy it. After everything the DA franchise has done for me with not only creating the games themselves, but leading me finding you guys/the Cullen thread, and the devs being amazing to me themselves I'd totally pay out triple that. <3

I totally know what you mean!

Hells, I'll be honest. I don't need a new computer. The stuff I need my computer for - my modding, work, and miscellaneous household management - I can do on my 2 year old Dell. But I won't be able to run DAI on it, so I'll buck up for a new one and hopefully it will still be OK for DA4. And I'll keep the old one for my BG2/NWN2/DA modding and carry on.

This is intriguing:

Aaryn Flynn: "I now have hundreds of gigs of videos on my laptop. Thank you #DAI and #PAX"

Blair Brown: "Still more to come!"

So even more videos to come? Crazy sh!t!

More videos? Coolness!

You know, it feels as if they're spoiling everything, showing all the features and all, but they really aren't. They're playing it smart this time. They're showing us dribs and drabs, but they're showing us those tidbits in-depth, so it just feels like saturation. Smart move!

I sometimes wonder why companies make such a fuss about brand loyalty/goodwill but when I read this stuff I begin to get an idea of why it's important.

When people really want to support your game or company then they will. I mean just look at the kickstarters. I know I must have dropped at least $1500 all up on a few games this year, just because I really, really wanted to support the companies making them. Even though that's not even a drop in the ocean when you think about development costs, when lots of other fans feel the same way it all adds up. Things like this make me proud to be a gamer particularly when most of the other things we hear about gaming in the community are the vileness of the bro-clubs attitudes and behavior.

Anyway, I have been on the computer for hours.....you are all making the BSN far too interesting a place to be. I've got to run. See you.  Image IPB

Even if a company isn't a kickstarter, they need brand loyalty. Many of us have been playing BioWare games since the '90s because we like the games BioWare makes. Even if we get one or two that are a disappointment for whatever reason, we keep coming back because they listen to feedback and are genuinely committed to making us happy. It isn't altruism. They're doing it because happy customers buy things. But that happy customer part makes it worthwhile financially, I'm sure! And the games are good.<3

Well I don't know what I would do with all that stuff that comes with the special edition, so I'll definitely buy just the regular game. But I'm absolutely a loyal BW customer! And that's after only the DA and ME series :P

I actually bought the AC3 Special Edition on accident! It was so big! Don't regret it, though. So, I'll probably continue my trend of buying Special Editions for games that I really love and look forward to.

And I am definitely looking foward to this! ^

If DAI special edition has stuffs, I could always use more to make my gamer den a bit more nerdy! As if the Reaper lithograph and Assassin's Creed flag wasn't enough(!)

DAI will be my first pre-order because I love the games so much. I've generally been a wait a few days for reviews kind of person. I'm a bit late to the party when it comes to Bioware (DAO was the first I played last year) but I'm glad I showed up.

£100+ for a Collectors Edition does seem steep, but it's a year away, so time to save the pennies. Plus collector items do quite well on eBay!

@Sister Goldring - if you come across any good games on Kickstarter let me know.

This has always been my thought, too. What the hell would I do with a mass produced jedi statue...? On the other hand, I don't think I've been as immersed in something as DA. So I'll probably consider it, finances not withstanding. :)
