@Mike_Laidlaw Sorry if this has been asked, but will DA3 have a toolkit for modders? That would be great - it's certainly kept DAO thriving!

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw 1h
@User Exploring. Some technical issues make it tricky.

so does this mean they will conciser it?

Man, that would be amazing!

HELL YEA tell me about it:O:O:O

I echo that :o:O:O

Toolset would be beyond awesome. I'm keeping my hopes up!

The fact that they're even looking into it is a step forward.

I think they've said a few times recently that they'd like to, but the new engine makes it hard to create a version that non-experts can use. Wasn't it... hmm, didn't Cam talk about that at PAX Aus?

I think they are polite about it , but there won't be any toolkit.
Frostbite isn't modders friendly to begin with , and I heard the people who created the engine were pretty happy that their engine can't be modded.

IGN article on DAKeep has some quotes from Mark Darrah.

So does this mean Hawke and your Warden play an important role in
Inquisition? Darrah says yes -- but BioWare won't elaborate on that just
yet.

Yea! My Warden returns!

Don't get too excited, just because they play an important role, doesn't mean they'll actually be in the game for us to see. Chances are we could only hear about the Warden and Hawke.

I'm liking what I am hearing about how approval will work so far.

Being able to simply shower Morrigan with gifts to make her like me again was silly.

Yeah, I really like the idea that we can be friends with them but not have to actually agree with their "plight".

It would have been cool in DA2 to be able to, say, call Anders out on his whole possession deal while still supporting mages.
So far down the rival path and he just assumes I am against them automatically lol

I applied to the beta for The Dragon Age Keep. I hope I didn't go way over the top =S

Simply put, I would be incredibly dedicated.
I am applying for years of game design classes and want nothing more than to join the industry. That's why I'd consider the beta an opportunity for me to grow. I am a huge fan of BioWare's brands including the Dragon Age series. Usability is an important issue to me (see this thread I made on the BSN http://bit.ly/148R0IA), so I would gladly do my best to approach anything with two sets of eyes; My experienced eyes, and those of a player new to DA.

I'm not picky with my cuisine, but some sausage goes so well with the clams.

Also, I laughed IRL from that line of yours. Good show =D

Yeah, I think you're right. And I also wonder why DICE - their headquarters being so close to me I've breathed the same air as every developer there - seem so smug about their engine being hard to mod with. Is... that a good thing? I can understand all the love for their modular design and how scalable it is etc, but hard to mod is hardly a good thing in my book. And I'm not even one mods much.

I don't know how Warden and Hawke can return and NOT play an important role. It wouldn't make sense.

But I still don't see how they could import appearances... Maybe through the keep somehow?

Is it possible to have a romance with low approval?

To a point. You cannot begin a romance at negative approval, however.

Is
it saying that approval is basically about whether the character
approves or disapproves of the PC's actions, rather than whether or not
they like you?  Which would make it rather more like Friendship/Rivalry
than the DA2 system?

It's based on their approval of
your actions. Ultimately it's closer to DAO's approval system than
DA2's, but without DAO's system of low approval locking out interactions
with your party members. The majority of interactions (the ones that
aren't directly approval-related) are gated by events in the game, not
your approval level. The type of interaction you have in those instances
varies by their approval.

Is it
possible for the character to end up just plain disliking/hating the PC,
or is it always going to be the "disagree, but good friends" thing
mentioned?

It is possible for a party member to end
up hating the PC if approval gets low enough, yes, and it can come to a
crisis point with that character-- at which point they may even leave
for good. Or other things.

Not sure how I feel about this. I have a good feeling that because of this, I will be altering my PCs actions depending on who is w/ me at the time, since I will want them all to like me (especially not hate me enough to leave) This leads to a pretty wishy-washy personality for my character, though it's more just how I'm playing the game than the system being flawed.

I like the sound of this, it sounds like certain key interactions and conversations will be event based, so it'll be spaced out better than it was in DA:O, but at the same time we won't be lock out of the main interactions/info from that character, regardless of whether you like them, hate them, or whatever.

However, it does sound like it's gonna be impossible to keep everyone happy, so I guess that's our meta-gaming out of the window, LOL! Man, this game sounds like it's going to be so complex.

It looks just like the footage Chantirose reported seeing at Gamescon, so seems legit. I haven't seen a highres version yet, though I've haven't really searched.

Usually what I did to keep most of my companions happy in DAO and DA2 was that I didn't take them on cetratin missions that I knew it would upset them could be the same case here if I want "everyone" to like my PC
