It looks like my hopes for arcane warriors are shattered
On the other hand mages will be able to wear heavy armor, so yay for that.
I liked the arcane warrior too, but it was annoying that she had to sheath her sword everytime she wanted to cast a spell (except for the ice spell I think) I always mind-canon that Alistair teaches her how to use the sword after she finds the trapped spirit, and then I start the romance right after that. I love the idea of a couple sparring and falling in love <3
Edit: Where are you reading/hearing this? Is there something going on w/ a panel right now?
I am lurking
ladyinsanity and
twitter thread but there are only bits and bobs of info.
As for AW, I think there were more spells and I actually did not mind switching. This way I very much enjoyed my mage's duel with Loghain since she actually fought with him instead of running and incapacicating him from a distance. Something that my Hawke can't say about her duel with Arishok

Edit:
wiki page has details on spells that can be cast with weapon drawn, surprisingly, there are quite many of them (including all the specs). I was using lots of glyphs and totally abusing spirit school, so I probably did not feel the limitations as much as pure primal mage would have.
