I must admit though, ever since BioWare showed off the concept art for the lady dwarf Inquisitor, I have been extremely tempted to do a PT with her first instead of my typical human. Those hips! She rocks those hips! XD

It would be interesting if BioWare did make a romance race-specific. If the Iron Bull is a companion as well as an LI, he may only go for a Qunari. Varric may only go for a dwarf. Of course a lot of people won't like that idea - they want to shag everything and...well...I kinda do too. XD j/k

You have NO IDEA how torn I am over what my first character will be. I'm so, so caught between human mage, just to see mage reactivity; dwarf rogue, because I looooove them female dwarfs; and Qunari/Kossith/whatever rogue, because reasons. *u*

Oh yeah, female dwarf looks gorgeous. Dwarf would be my first if I wouldn't be always playing a healing mage first, so probably my second.

This tweet is from the same person, Ashe/ ladyinsanity. The pic above is from her notes. Her point only being that she didn't write down that it was a companion, so she can neither confirm or deny that part. Only that a "main protag" from Asunder will be in the game in some capacity.ag99 wrote...
But wait didn't someone mentioned a few pages back that the character from asunder wont be a companion but just a major NPC or something? Or did i read that wrong?

So i guess we are not sure whoever it is from asunder if they would be a companion or not

Yeah, this had been my thinking about the "new home" concept art not. Not so much that folks will be camping in tents, but maybe that there's one castle like that one in the pic that's our real home base. Then we also have a series of outposts, which are our captured keeps that we can decide if they're military or spying or whatever. But our main base is where the important things are, like maybe our stay-at-home companions like maybe-Traynor-like Scribe Girl, Bodahn and Sandal, and our extensive walk-in closets... Ahem.Danny Boy 7 wrote...
Maybe a war band? You travel with your main army, but when you settle for the night you have a huge area full of tents or something? It kind of reminds me of that "New Home" concept art with the crowd filing over the hill, the fortress in the background.deuce985 wrote...
"You could use the Keeps in a similar fashion to that [the base camps]," Lee said. "It's one of those places where you can restock equipment, but it's not a replacement for the camp system.
"We have something else in mind for that, which is a lot more grandiose than even the Keep system. We'll get into that later on. I think people are going to freak out!"
What's Cameron Lee talking about I wonder? A kingdom itself? That's what I think it is. What else could be more grand than owning a bunch of castles which we will from storming keeps?

But it still bothers me, the beard ... If you take away the beard from the Grey Warden, it looks kind of similar to maybe!Cullen in the War room pic.
war room pic:

Grey Warden:

So maybe the Grey Warden only has the beard for the first few missions, until we get to the main base and he get's to clean up/shave etc. and we get what we think to be maybe!Cullen.
But then we have the Tavern picture where it might be him with beard being all happy. I don't know ... I just find it curious that Cullen would just pop up in that random concept art and no where else.

Honestly, I think the armor is a lot more changeable than the facial hair. I find it hard to imagine that they would play around by drawing a character with and without a big old beard, given that the beard seems to be the defining characteristic of the GW dude that we've seen across multiple pieces of concept art. Plus we've already seen him in game, with the beard. So... seems a stretch to me that maybe!Cullen is the Grey Warden dude from the customization blog/leaked survey pics. (edit to add: Also, if the tone of the character is his maturity, adding and subtracting a beard during the game is going to mess with that.)Chiantirose1982 wrote...
I think it was yesterday when I had a discussion with someone on the main page about companions and someone asked why people think that it is Cullen in that war room picture and not the Grey Warden, because the armor is more similar to him then Cullen. I told them that the most obvious thing would be the beard and that Cullen might have left the Templars and that's the reason for the armor.

That being said, I still don't think it's a slam dunk that it's Cullen either. He has many culleny characteristics:
- short curly hair
- frowny eyebrows,
-concerned, 'i'll step in and fix this,' kind of attitude,
- a shadow of a maybe goatee.
Taken all together it's suggestive, but far from conclusive.
If Cullen really is a minor or even major NPC, I doubt we would see him in a lot of the concept art. If he is a companion, perhaps we haven't seen him as much because they basically know what he looks like... and concept art is for testing concepts...? Since we don't know if we've seen a statistically representative sample of concept art (meaning: they've clearly been picking and choosing what we're allowed to see for their own unknown reasons), I don't think we should necessarily worry about whether we have or haven't seen him much yet.

The companions still have their iconic look though, like dark armor for Cassandra or leather coat for Varric. That blue armor has always bothered me. It does look like Cullen, it's not like I'm saying it's not him and I honestly want it to be him. Just when you look at the survey pictures and then at the companion that have appeared they do look alike.
I'll stop here, I don't want to start an arguement, sorry for bringing it up. I just tend to pick at everything until I'm 100% sure and get my hopes up.

Oh, yeah, the companions def have their iconic looks to their armor! Agree! But, I guess I also don't see the armor on maybe!Cullen in that concept art as being very iconic. The shoulder armor thing shows up across all the Inquisitor armors, too, and the GW's shoulder thing changes a bit with his customizations as well. Plus the tunic thing under maybe!Cullen's armor is pretty similar to Leliana's tunic, which could mean it's an Inquisition uniform, or even just a placeholder...Chiantirose1982 wrote...

Maybe it's his "casual armor" used for futzing around the keep. lol I'm inclined to go with that entire concept piece being exactly that.... just a concept. Cass isn't in the get up we normally see her in either. In the end, what's it matter? I'm having a blast with the guessing games!R2s Muse wrote...

*name removed*: @Mike_Laidlaw Mike, will we able to change the inquisitor's physique? #DAI
Mike Laidlaw: I can't say for sure, but it's unlikely that we'll do physique changes on top already doing racial physiques.
*name removed*: @Mike_Laidlaw Totally fair. Purely a matter of aesthetics. Keep up the good work! #cantwait
Mike Laidlaw: Yeah, I totally understand the desire, but if it's that or races? I'm goin' with races

That's a huge bummer. It's weird when they can't do something that older games can already do quite easily.

That would've been something but I can totally see why they'd choose to forgo the body types. This game is already so insanely detailed. But can you imagine seeing your "robust", short balding Inquisitor (a la George Costanza) traipsing about the world? LOL That would be wonderfully demented!R2s Muse wrote...

Yeah but that's the extreme people always go to when talking about this in a game. How about a mage who can't bench press 350lb? I don't think that's too bizarre to imagine lol
This also means that all NPCs will have the same body. I REALLY don't like that, but it's a tiny thing. It does "break immersion" as the fanboys say, but I'll gladly take my elven PC in exchange for all this *huggles all the elves*

Anything specific about the races? (Dwarves)
The last name of a protagonist Dwarf is seen in the video (in reference to the save file associated with the character) and it is CADASH.
Also, dwarves still cannot be mages.
Finally, Dagna makes an appearance in the demo. I jokingly asked Luke what happens if you sent her back to her dad in Origins and he replied, while laughing, "She's dead!" (Note: I wouldnt necessarily take that answer seriously)

Vague, nonspecific ones about a Qunari and an Elf. Very much a "Well we've shown a lot of characters we haven't identified to you yet..." kind of deal.
He wouldn't speculate further on whether that means Iron Bull, since apparently he's under an NDA for stuff he knows from elsewhere.
