I keep looking at the roster and saying to myself "That's three women and six men. They wouldn't." But then I remember Origins, which had three women... no. That's a lie. It had four. So, we're back to three women, and I find that kinda unlikely. If they were all strong characters, I wouldn't complain, but I'm wondering if somebody (like Cullen) got cut because they needed a fourth. That would be sad. I'd much rather they cut Iron Bull or Flail. I've got nothing against either of them, but losing one of them wouldn't be a big deal since we don't know anything about them.
First of all... you called him Flail and that was awesome! lol
I'm on the fence about the companions though. For all we know there could be perfectly good explanations as to why this guy's in and that one's out and I don't want to be hasty in my judgments. (Indecisive much?) I know I'd like for Cullen to be involved in a bigger way than standing around muttering "Maker watch over you" and griping about blood mages. Other than that, I'm just waiting to see what they've got. I mean, what if curtain number two has Uber Companion / LI and then we're all like "Cullen who?".
I'll be over here awaiting public stoning for that comment.
I find myself without any convenient rocks, so you'll be safe over here.
Seriously, Chill is starting to intrigue me. I love mages, and always have, even when I was still playing PnP DnD. I always ran clerics, sorcerers, wizards, or the occasional paladin, and didn't really enjoy playing non-caster types. And the big reason that I haven't really enjoyed elves is that so many of them have been broody, which I dislike. OK, mostly, it's Velanna and Fenris, but they do it enough for six or seven elves combined. All of the concept art we've seen of Chill (which isn't much) shows him looking pensive or mellow... or in the tavern scene (I want it to be him despite the sash), laughing. I don't think he's broody, and that hair in the stabby scene is pure awesomesauce.
I was pretty gutted when I found out who the pro-Circle mage was going to be, but I got over it eventually, and now I'm more curious about the other mage possibilities. Viv put me off a bit with that imperious vibe, but if she can pull off sass without being condescending, we'll get along just fine. Dynaheir (especially the way Domi wrote her in the BG1 NPC Project) was one of my top four favorite female characters of all time. "For the right! And I always am!" indeed! The way she said it made me laugh. Every. Single. Time. If Vivienne is like Dynaheir, I'll probably roll up a male Inquisitor or two to romance her. And there's Chill. Maker, we really need an elven mage who isn't broody, high strung, or neurotic.
I've still got reservations about the blonde elf. It looks as if she's in the middle of some kind of crude goatse joke, and that's a bit off-putting. I'm not devoid of humor, but crass body function jokes don't really do much for me.
