It makes me really sad that DG is so focused on the negative reactions from fans... there are so many of us that would be disappointed that so-and-so isn't romance-able, but it would never occur us to accuse the writer of being racist, or a bastard, or that he hates us, or what not.
His tumblr posts always just strike me as so... defensive  It makes me really sad for him, that these negative, nasty "fans" overpower the majority, so that's all he ever really sees.

I've been digging for a concept art from Matt Rhodes blogspot today, looking for the dwarfen inquisitor one. The picture with the female qunari inquisitor and the guy kneeling in front of her, had this comment on it, saying that he should be more respectful to women. He responded to the person, but it read like he really took it personal, which is understandable. I also feel bad for them. They always have to defend themselves, there is always backlash, no matter what they do. It's sad, really. Most of the comments on the page are positive, but that one really bothered me.

Maybe I'm missing something, but when I look at that picture, I see a strong, proud, maybe a bit arrogant female character, that just whooped someones behind. I don't see anything degrading or sexist.

Not singling you out, MMG! It's just that your post was the closest relevant one. 

Just so you know, English isn't her native language. She reads and writes it better than some, but it probably isn't fair to hold her to the same standards as a native speaker. It's probable that she has not read enough of our 2500+ pages to know that we love all the LIs and potential LIs, even if we hold special affection for Cullen. She probably read something ranty and thought it was us.

I don't see it, either *rubs chin* I have indeed seen a few concept art pieces from MR that made me sigh sadly, but none of the newer, DA:I stuff. I haven't found anything wrong with the poses or depictions of women. (And I also wouldn't post something rude on his art blog just because I found a piece offensive; if I were feeling truly brave, I might point it out in a polite way, but that's it...)

I agree with both of you. There's nothing degrading or sexist about the woman in the picture. The bound male is awaiting judgment, and the woman is about to dispense it. She looks as one would expect a competent leader to look under those circumstances.

Personal headcanon: The bound male is Chill, and he's been captured while attempting to reach the Inquisitor to offer his services. Her underlings don't necessarily buy his story, and they've brough him before her so she can decide for herself. Hey, you can't blame the guards for not trusting a Tevinter magister, right?

I was thinking it might be Chill Elf guy too, except I was expecting him to be some sort of criminal (perhaps he stole from us, or something) and we could either kill him off, or recruit him into our party.

What I find funny is that the DA leadership must have dropped Schroedinger refs in a recent meeting, since both he and Mike Laidlaw are using it now (MLaw I think dropped it more than once in the podcast).
