It makes me really sad that DG is so focused on the negative reactions from fans... there are so many of us that would be disappointed that so-and-so isn't romance-able, but it would never occur us to accuse the writer of being racist, or a bastard, or that he hates us, or what not.

I've been digging for a concept art from Matt Rhodes blogspot today, looking for the dwarfen inquisitor one. The picture with the female qunari inquisitor and the guy kneeling in front of her, had this comment on it, saying that he should be more respectful to women. He responded to the person, but it read like he really took it personal, which is understandable. I also feel bad for them. They always have to defend themselves, there is always backlash, no matter what they do. It's sad, really. Most of the comments on the page are positive, but that one really bothered me.

Maybe I'm missing something, but when I look at that picture, I see a strong, proud, maybe a bit arrogant female character, that just whooped someones behind. I don't see anything degrading or sexist.

Oh, that does make me sad. Esp since the "anonymous" commenter doesn't have the courage to take their rude comment seriously. 

That's ridiculous! Hell, I have a very curved spine like that and I'm certainly not a stripper! Urgh, I'd love to know who made that comment so that I could kick him in the arse for being a complete toss pot.

Obviously someone who's just trolling who probably thinks art is just easily slapping stuff down on paper

Not singling you out, MMG! It's just that your post was the closest relevant one. 

Just so you know, English isn't her native language. She reads and writes it better than some, but it probably isn't fair to hold her to the same standards as a native speaker. It's probable that she has not read enough of our 2500+ pages to know that we love all the LIs and potential LIs, even if we hold special affection for Cullen. She probably read something ranty and thought it was us.

You don't need to be a native speaker to know that it makes little sense to blame many for the actions of one. 

And it IS funny that you quote me since I say above that it was probably just a misunderstanding... which is the point of your whole post 

MMG, as usual, said it more diplomatically than I would have. I don't think accusing a whole thread of strangers of bad behavior, without context and without sticking around to explain your remark, is just a language thing... Plus, it seems to me that not having participated in our thread previously is kind of the opposite of an excuse.

I read something interesting about Vivienne on the Dragon Age Wikia:

Vivienne was written by Mary Kirby.

According to Mary Kirby, the Orlesian Imperial Court refers to Vivienne as "Madame de Fer" or, loosely, "The Iron Lady."

So we have possibly The Iron Bull and The Iron Lady? Could there be a romance between the two, like Aveline and Donnic? Hmmm.

I've been reading in other places on the forums that people are saying, "Yeah, but remember DG said that you won't like the direction that they're taking Cullen!" I don't really remember him actually saying that they're taking Cullen in a different direction, or that we're not going to like him... Did he actually say that?

Naw, it's just someone misquoting him. Remember a while back when DG said that the Cullen fans would be the first people to complain if the devs/writers done something to him/his story/character that we didn't like/broke our head canon? Well, that's what the OP is refering to, lol.

Yeah. We always talked about how similar he and Cass are in their representation of world issues... I think her confirmation as party member kinda reinforces that. I've always figured he'd end up being a (non-follower) NPC... which could still be  pretty good given what we saw of him in DA2!! So here's hoping it's at least as meaty.

Personally I would be happy if he were to be a romanceable NPC I'll take anything lol but I guess that ship has saild when they said they are  "cutting back" on romances..

That was my frame of thought, too. If he's not romanceable in this game, then he'll never be. Waaah.

Haha but it's whatever. I'm sure the companions they have will be memorable and interesting. Looking back on DA2, I wasn't super enthused for any of the companions going into it (didn't play much of Awakening so I didn't know Anders well). I ended up loving Isabela, Aveline, and Varric. 

And I'm already looking forward to the three they've announced and Sera (or blonde elf possible companion) looks awesome.

Here's hoping! The game looks and feels very different to anything we've seen from Dragon Age in the past, so who knows what they've got planned now that they've got an extra year to finish it. Keep in mind that DA2 was made in little over a year, so they could add SOOOOO much to DAI between now and Fall 2014.

My confidence in Cullen being a companion/LI goes from Gaston to zero quite often. It's like the Joker thread all over again! Ohh the agony. XD

*insert Sigrun's voice* Woe! WOE!!!! 

But of course, despite it all, I know I'll live. It will be disappointing, I won't deny that, but the game will have so much more that I will occupy myself with. There will be other characters to be friends with, or fall into a romance. The story and quests will blow my mind, and damn, there is just so much so far. 

Anyway. We'll all pull through one way or another. And we still have a year before we find out officially, so I say don't be afraid to continue holding onto that bit of hope.

It's honestly crazy how much more development time this game will have than DA2. I loved DA2 despite its flaws, so I think (unless they somehow completely screw up the game) DA:I is going to be spectacular. I looooved the male inquisitor that was in the demo, so I'm really excited for the character creator. It looks so much more realistic.

That's true. I'm excited to find out who the LIs will be, too. hopefully there will be some attractive onessss.
Also if Iron Bull is a companion and an LI I *know* my QunQuisitor will go after him immediately  At the very least, I expect some good conversations/banter.

Also a good point. And he's going to be in the game on some level, so we'll have new Cullen stuff to talk about here
