In a way, I'm lucky. I already got my big disappointment out of the way and I'm recovered enough to enjoy finding out who did make the team. Which is a point David Gaider may have overlooked in his "Schroedinger's Romance" blog. Yeah, disappointment sucks, but getting the news out there early allows players time to get over it and get psyched about who is in the game.

I totally agree with this! Now that we've seen most of the companions (via the announcement, or them accidentally popping up in videos etc) I'm becoming more and more used to the fact that Cullen probably won't be one of them.

I much prefer to get this sort of thing out of the way long before the game ships, that way I can work the disappointment out of my system and enjoy everything else the game has to offer on its release, without having the disappointment tinge my experience.

Pardon for asking, but what was your big disappointment? Or is pre-emptive disappointment?

Yeah, agreed. I was extremely disappointed during ME3 when I found out FemShep didn't get any new straight LIs, and had, at most, 2 straight LIs. I kept expecting Vega to be a romance option because he was a new character and not an alien, but nope. <_< I probably shouldn't have gotten my hopes up about it, but I still think that was a missed opportunity and FemShep definitely got slighted. (though I luuurve Kaidan)

Hi all, just popping in... hoping you guys had some sort of info on our adored templar that the Inquisition threads lack.

I, too, have been keeping an eye on the Confirmed Companions thread and have posted on it a few times. I... don't think Cullen will be a companion- but he will be, at the very least an agent. Mostly because of the reasons I've already listed on the other thread but also because of DG's older reactions to some Cullen fans (no one here, obviously). That being said, I will buy everybody in the Cullen thread actual cupcakes (or cake pops- yum!) from bakers on Etsy if Cullen ends up being a confirmed LI companion, to celebrate with you all.

I'm a little afraid at what we've seen so far from concept art, etc. that we can speculate from- at least as far as LIs for straight female/gay male inquisitors. The bald/ponytail elf or the magister seem like possible choices... Then, we have Varric, and in the concept art we keep seeing the older human Grey Warden, neither of which would be my first choice for my inquisitor (as much as I like Varric). Ugh >.<

The only thing giving me hope at this point in an interview Greg Ellis did on Cullen, in which at the very end said something about fans being happy in the upcoming game (which can mean anything from our Templar getting closure, or becoming a companion). Only now I can't find the interview.

@Carine, thankfully Dragon Age has always differed from Mass Effect in this respect: given us the same number of LIs.  No disrepect for FemHawke and FemWarden.

Oooo, I've never seen/heard of that interview. I'll do some digging around!

My theory is that if he isn't a companion/LI (and I really don't think he will be) then he'll at least be of some importance. I mean, why bother to have GE in the studio so early into the games development if it was just for some piddly little cameo/minor npc role.

Ah, I forgot Gay Shep could also only have one LI if circumstances were diferent. But yeah, straight BroShep got all the ladies, none of his romances didn't work out, and no one *had* to die. 

My main point with straight FemShep was that she could go into the last game with *no* available straight LIs if [spoilers? Idk] she didn't romance Garrus and if she killed Kaidan. Which can't be said for Gay Shep, lesbian Shep, or straight BroShep.

And yeah, as for the LIs that people are speculating -- I'm most interested in Iron Bull, and I think he's the least likely LI. Not sure if I would like Elf Guy, and I'm also not big on beards. But we'll seeeee  I didn't like Fenris or Anders originally with DA2, but they grew on me.

I can't decide if I think Chill Elf guy is attractive or not. In the stabby!Inquisitor picture he looks kinda hot, but in others he looks... kinda not.

I'm actually pretty excited about everything I've seen so far. Love maybe!Sera, Chill, Beardy GW dude, Vivienne. I can't wait to hang out with the gang in that tavern and hear maybe!Sera's bawdy joke! So, even if Cullen isn't romanceable I'm confident I'll find someone else to love. And... who knows! If they had romanceable non-followers in ME, they might even consider it for DA! (yes, I know DG said pretty clearly they would never do that... *sigh* But you never know)

On the agents, again, they seem to be faceless assets according to the devs and the PAX demo instead of specific NPCs. But Cullen could be more like Morrigan, "important NPC," even if he's not a real companion. There's still just so much great synergy for a story like this and a character like him, I'm hopeful they'll take advantage of his potential.

I know exactly what you mean. 
The elf at the background of the map picture is really cute. But then again, those are all concepts so the in game engine could end up with a suuuuper attractive elf guy.

Also curious -- as Vivienne is a confirmed companion, has she shown up in any concept art?

The fact that they haven't confirmed or denied anything is definitely frustrating. I can't help but wonder if those "accidental" clips of the Grey Warden dude and the Elf chick, along with that little picture of the "companion inventory" that popped up in the early GI videos were put there purposely to give us confirmation of who will be party members.

That's true, and the devs did say that Morrigan has a big story arc and we'd be dealing with her a lot throughout the game, so who knows!

I don't think those were accidental. They blurred out a lot of details on the other videos, and I doubt it would be difficult to do that entire scene with Varric and Cass instead (unless they're not a part of the party for whatever reason).

Thing is, now we've seen them they may as well just come out and confirm them properly, lol.

I wonder if they're supposed to be the same people? If the other concept art is talking about the Dwarf Inquistor one, the elf guy looks kind of dressed like everyone else at the bottom of the picture with the fur boa thing. But then again, he is wearing that fur in that picture...

Well, I'd prefer him with hair.  And not looking like Nosferatu.

I agree! It reminds me of a tweet aimo sent to Mike Laidlaw asking if they'd intended to "let slip" the PC names from the save files, and he was rather smug about the fact that, of course, they knew it was in the demo footage.

I remember he talked about how he was very thankful for Cullen's fans and said they were really involved (or something like that.. invested, maybe?).  He also mentioned that he very much liked voicing Cullen, and being part of his (Cullen's) personal development; he seemed very much attached to Cullen's personal history.  It exists, I swear- though it seems like it's completely disappeared.

Even if he's not a companion, I sure hope we find out soon. I firmly believe that the DAI's development is far enough along that they are certain who the companions will be.   Like many of you have said, I'd rather get the disappointment over with.
