Could be, although that would be a pretty big change. I dunno, personally, I don't worry about the class balance. We only technically know of three actual companions, so pretty small numbers so far. We don't really know the classes of all the other ones we've seen, let alone which are party members, and there may be some we haven't even seen yet. Seems to me like a lot of wiggle room for Cullen.ag99 wrote...
lol... crazy thought what if they made Cullen a rogue?.. that way the classes would be balanced? Hell idk im just trying to make excuses so he can be in the game....

I dont really worry about classes either but there are many other ppl in the DAI forum who do... cause they always say that its too heavy on warriors, personally I wouldnt even mind if they decided to change his class as long as he gets to be in our inquisito'rs party lol:P

Looks great, ag! Same remark as R2, maybe the shoulder guard should fit more snuggly, but otherwise it's flawless.

That totally cracks me up. The same people who argue that Cullen couldn't possibly be a companion because there are too many warriors will argue with equal passion that the "unclaimed" companion couldn't possibly be a mage because BioWare would never allow us to make a party solely of mages.R2s Muse wrote...

Also, have we seen GW dude in any gameplay vids? I forget. If not, it's possible that they made *him* a rogue to balance the classes. There's nothing that says Grey Wardens have to be warriors, and it isn't unknown for the devs to change things around between concept art and final game.

But.. I don't get it.
Of course, I could be wrong and they give us the possibility to play an all mage party in DAI, but that would be unpresedented. I'm certainly not betting on that horse.

I don't know about more, but I think a close to equal mix is what many would prefer.
Three women and six men does seem kind of ridiculous.

I don't think two games is enough to constitute "NEVER". If Hawke was a warrior or rogue, you automatically wound up with three mages (although one was unavailable for a big chunk of the game). There were 5 mages in Baldur's Gate 2 out of 15 recruitable characters, and BG2 had 6 classes. In other words, I wouldn't rule out 3 mages in DAI.Commander Kurt wrote...

But.. I don't get it.We NEVER get more than two mages (probably due to balancing issues), so how is it that classes mess things up..? Two mages, three rogues and four warriors sounds like the most probable mix in a roster of nine companions, DA2 being balanced I see as a direct result of there being only 6 companions.

Yeah, he was in (I think) the first one wielding a sword (or was it two?). Def. a warrior, I'd say. Still, as I said, I don't think that's really problematic. In DA2 they went with rogues over warriors, as opposed to DAO, so that could definitely happen, but that's pretty much a coin toss at this point.

I too hope it isn't Evangeline, but that's mostly because I wasn't too fond of her. Usually, I become quite attached to the characters in David Gaider's books, but I never quite managed it with those in Asunder. No idea why.
Edit: As for the male/female ratio, I don't much care. Three likable, well-developed female characters would please me far more than five characters who were included only increase the estrogen content. And I'd really hate to see them scrap well-developed male characters (like Cullen) just to fill some quota.

Certainly, but it's still more substantiated than betting that they do it differently. I mean, they certainly could, but you can't really say that the logical conclusion at this point is a balanced party (3-3-3).
You could only ever have three mages in the party including Hawke. Now, unless we assume that what class we choose in DAI will affect which party members are available to us again, then the pattern suggests two mage companions.
I can be wrong, I know this. I'm just saying that party balance isn't something to expect when we'll get nine companions. It could go either way (I'm betting on 4-3-2, but that's as much a guess as any other).

There's no reason why it couldn't be balanced, though. If you could field a team of warriors or rogues, there's no reason not to field one of mages. They've said that they're using other incentives to get players to try balanced teams, like presenting obstacles that only warriors/rogues/mages can solve, so it really is in the player's best interests to diversify.Commander Kurt wrote...

What I do not want to see - ever- is another situation like DAO where we had two mages and I disliked both of them. That really, really sucked, and it really did prevent me from enjoying playing through with a warrior or rogue Warden.

I was sure Leliana wasn't going to be one, but then they threw out that "a substantial number of returning characters" line and now I don't know what to think.
The thing that peeves me isn't the lack of ladies really, it's the fact that the roles would probably never be reversed. You wouldn't have a game where three out of nine party members were male, what crazy person would ever play that??

I dont remember her being pregnant but I do know that she went to andoral's reach with Rhys and the rebel mages.
But yea maybe for us we might be ok with 3 females, but I can kind of understand the guys side as well cause they might not have that many women to choose from if one of them isnt romanceable... ugh... I dont know what to think anymore... nothng against Varric but i believe he kinda scrwed everyone by returning instead of him we could have had another female and then maybe Cullen would have had a more better chance at being a companion (sorry still trying to find excuses to sqese him in lol )

I'm not sure what I think, honestly. They would probably need to nerf mages a bit for it not to be op, but what's stopping them from doing that?
Yeah, I felt that you were far more reliant on having a mage in DAO (in DA2 I could beat the game on nightmare without using one, not so in DAO), making it even worse. If they do want us to diversify than a balanced number of mages/rogues/warriors could be a good way to get us there.
