Ooooh the looks of the keeps can change! Wow you can change the physical parts of it and the story!! Woot!

Yup! You get three different styles to choose from: Military-esc which is super gnarly looking with spikes all over the place, political-esc which has statues and symbols all over the outpost, with lots of yellow and orange flags 'n' stuff, and espoignage-esc which has masses of material covering the roofs and makes the outpost look very locked down and secretive.

The espionage one sounds... amazing!
Are there pictures of this? D: I'm not able to find any.

Lemme see if I can pull some from the YouTube videos. They probably won't be great quality, but it'll give you guys some idea of the decor for each, lol.

Did I understand Cameron right, did he say Morrigan's state depends on your choices?

So that would mean she might not be an orlais advisor every time, like when you did the ritual she didn't become an advisor only if you refused.

Yeah he did say that! Maybe the type of advice or whatever she'll give will depend on how humane she is I guess lol

God I am just way too excited about this game. I started replaying DA2 last night (DA:O keeps crashing on my computer... stupid compatibility issues) and I decided I'd make some weird decisions with my Hawke this time around.

I'm also stoked to see Cullen again in my game lol

Tolkien gave them personality... see "the Hobbit" ^_^ (Sorry, I hate any mention of that darn "Witcher" game all the BSN fanboys fawn over... wouldn't hate it so much if it weren't so hideously sexist!)

Oh are trolls mixed up with the faerie myths of stealing children and leaving changelings?

Just a drive-by with a writer's perspective "On Liking Characters".

In case we forgot that a character doesn't have to be universally loved to make the cut.:wizard:

I wonder how she is if the Warden stabbed her in the back?

I think one of the best things about Cullen is people usually have strong opinions one way or another.

Most of the "I hate him" opinions are the ones that didn't pay attention to his role in DA2, though...:P

Ok, got the pictures. So, basically once you've taken over an outpost you can either leave it looking the same way you found it, or you can upgrade them to either:

Espoignage-esc:

Posted Image

You can't really see it in this picture, but there are yards of material kinda like a big top tent covering the top half of the outpost. Apparently you can use this type of outpost to find out secrets and stuff.

Political-esc:

Posted Image

This one apparently is also used for merchant based stuff, and you can use your contacts for earning money 'n' stuff, I guess.

And my favourite, Militant-esc:

Posted Image

This one is pretty self explanatory, I guess this type of outpost is best for areas that could be under attack frequently 'n' stuff.

LOL To underscore DG's love for writing characters you feel strongly about, requoting something he said here in our thread about 10 months ago...

Look at it this way: I'd rather use a character that was both hated and loved than one which nobody cared about either way. ;)

How embarrassing, I just noticed I spelt "cue" wrong in that post, and DG replied to it. *Face palm*

Ha, sure (I'm not a huge fan either to be honest)! Posted Image

Yeah, in northern Scandinavia trolls or gnomes were the usual suspects when something went wrong (unless someone went missing, then it was probably the naked riverman or the naked forest lady). They're a huge part of our cultural heritage.

Woo, COOL! Thanks so much for the mini-lesson. I will research this :wizard: Fun times :) Also, tell me more about this riverman or forest lady... (maybe in PM...).

Nordic mythology is the best. My favourite creature is Bäckahästen. A horse dragging children under water. Also Skogsrået. A very attractive woman luring men with a great big hole in her back. Tolkien used all our good stories and turned our cool stuff into mainstream epic fantasy. Haha!

@MMG; LOL, I actually erased most of my post before posting, I tend to get rather passionate (and long winded) when talking about this stuff. Posted Image I'll send you a PM!

@Scr0ll; Skogsrået a.k.a naked forest lady. Posted Image I prefer Näcken to Bäckahästen, he's just more poetic AND scary. Oh, and naked forest lady's mother, Maran, who would sneak in and ride you in your sleep giving you nightmares (which is where the "mare" part comes from)!

Bäckahästen is creepy because of how he can grow longer with every child that sits up on his back. But yeah, näcken is a bit hawt. ;) Nattmaran is very interesting. I guess it's a sex is nasty thing? She will ride you but you will either die or have horrible dreams. A bit Succubus there. :) I can talk about this endlessly. Like start posting John Bauer paintings and stuff. Will stop.

CULLEN IS AWESOME! :kissing:

On that note... Been thinking how extremely interesting it would be if he is one of the Red Templar founders. They pulverised Meredith and consumed her. He would be utterly suited for the guy who keeps being in the wrong place.

To me it won't be that interesitng because that would mean that we would have to kill him since from what I understood the red templars are the bad guys here, so no I wouldn't want Cullen to have anything to do with them

Tolkien's first loves were language and mythology, especially pre-Norman "English". The mythology isn't *exactly* the same, but both draw upon Germanic roots. It doesn't help that the people most inclined to write stuff down were monks (the Venerable Bede, etc), and they had a tendency to call any pre-Christian mythological beastie "demon."

 Too serious guys. :PB)
Doing 12 hour days and having problems winding down.

I found the funniest picture on livejournal. Won't post it because, well... NSFW (http://dragonage-kin...=157768#t157768) But the OP wrote a postcard. I will copy paste:

Dear Cullen, the letter said.
We've made it to Antiva. The drinks here are to die for.
Also, your mother keeps trying to show her boobs off to everyone. I'd stop her, but, eh, boobs. Can't complain, really.
Hope you're having fun in the Tower!
Love,
Greagoir and Wynne Mom and Dad
P.S. We've decided we want grandchildren. You and that Amell girl should get on that.
Cullen decided he liked it better when he didn't know who his parents were.

If they're calling themselves the Red Templars, it must be to differentiate themselves from regular non-bad-guy templars. If he's still a templar at all, we may find him with them.

Dragon Age isn't like Mass Effect, where you can only access certain functions via keyboard "shortcuts," which are an absolute terror and no shortcut at all, to be perfectly honest. You can get there using the keyboard, of course, but everything has an on-screen icon which you can click with the mouse if you would rather do it that way. I usually hide the interface when I take screenshots, but I can post one when I get home if you're curious about the PC interface. DAI will be different, of course, but they're also saying that DAI will have controller support, so you can have the best of both worlds.

So happy to hear this, you have made my day!  However I really hope they sort out the UI as it comes up really small when connected to a HD TV. I have to lower the resolution just to read the text in DAO.

These Nordic mythological creatures are fascinating. Wikipedia here I come!
