Yeah, in northern Scandinavia trolls or gnomes were the usual suspects when something went wrong (unless someone went missing, then it was probably the naked riverman or the naked forest lady). They're a huge part of our cultural heritage.

Woo, COOL! Thanks so much for the mini-lesson. I will research this :wizard: Fun times :) Also, tell me more about this riverman or forest lady... (maybe in PM...).

Nordic mythology is the best. My favourite creature is Bäckahästen. A horse dragging children under water. Also Skogsrået. A very attractive woman luring men with a great big hole in her back. Tolkien used all our good stories and turned our cool stuff into mainstream epic fantasy. Haha!

@MMG; LOL, I actually erased most of my post before posting, I tend to get rather passionate (and long winded) when talking about this stuff. Posted Image I'll send you a PM!

@Scr0ll; Skogsrået a.k.a naked forest lady. Posted Image I prefer Näcken to Bäckahästen, he's just more poetic AND scary. Oh, and naked forest lady's mother, Maran, who would sneak in and ride you in your sleep giving you nightmares (which is where the "mare" part comes from)!

Bäckahästen is creepy because of how he can grow longer with every child that sits up on his back. But yeah, näcken is a bit hawt. ;) Nattmaran is very interesting. I guess it's a sex is nasty thing? She will ride you but you will either die or have horrible dreams. A bit Succubus there. :) I can talk about this endlessly. Like start posting John Bauer paintings and stuff. Will stop.

CULLEN IS AWESOME! :kissing:

On that note... Been thinking how extremely interesting it would be if he is one of the Red Templar founders. They pulverised Meredith and consumed her. He would be utterly suited for the guy who keeps being in the wrong place.

Cullen is great (I wonder if he plays the violin..)!

And the idea of them ingesting Meredith is.. less than appealing, LOL. The red templars are apparently working with demons, and having Cullen in the middle of that after what happened in the Ferelden circle would be absolutely heart wrenching.

Doing 12 hour days and having problems winding down.

I found the funniest picture on livejournal. Won't post it because, well... NSFW (http://dragonage-kin...=157768#t157768) But the OP wrote a postcard. I will copy paste:

Dear Cullen, the letter said.
We've made it to Antiva. The drinks here are to die for.
Also, your mother keeps trying to show her boobs off to everyone. I'd stop her, but, eh, boobs. Can't complain, really.
Hope you're having fun in the Tower!
Love,
Greagoir and Wynne Mom and Dad
P.S. We've decided we want grandchildren. You and that Amell girl should get on that.
Cullen decided he liked it better when he didn't know who his parents were.

LOL! I keep trying to imagine Gregoire saying "boobs"..

If they're calling themselves the Red Templars, it must be to differentiate themselves from regular non-bad-guy templars. If he's still a templar at all, we may find him with them.

This is my thought as well. But I wonder what Cullen holds first, his loyalty to the chantry or his loyalty to the templars..? I can't really see him leaving the chantry, but where does that leave him?

He could be aligned with Leliana and Justinia? I guess I would wager that he'd support the Chantry before the Order, given how his arguments for why templars do what they do is all about Andraste (his whole "Perhaps the mages need better education as to why the Chantry functions as it does. Perhaps they would not go against the will of Andraste herself. " blah blah). I headcanon him as being a very devout person, and that his idealism about the Order would stem directly from that devotion. But... the writers could very well go another direction.

Oooh, I like trolls. Posted Image Hope they take a que from the Witcher and give them some personality rather than making them mindless monsters. My grandma would call me a "changeling" when I missbehaved as a kid.. Posted ImagePosted Image

Tolkien gave them personality... see "the Hobbit" ^_^ (Sorry, I hate any mention of that darn "Witcher" game all the BSN fanboys fawn over... wouldn't hate it so much if it weren't so hideously sexist!)

Oh are trolls mixed up with the faerie myths of stealing children and leaving changelings?

Ha, sure (I'm not a huge fan either to be honest)! Posted Image

We don't know all that much about the Red Templars at this point. For all we know, they're the templars who followed Lambert. Some templars would have remained loyal to the Divine and they might refer to themselves as templars.

I don't imagine Cullen taking an either/or approach to it. He seems to believe in the templar role as part of the Chantry. Phrased differently, I would imagine him stubbornly insisting on referring to himself as a true templar, even if he was the only one.

Or the writers could do something else entirely with him.

Edit: As an aside, my lab currently smells like buttermilk biscuits. I have absolutely no idea why. And I'm hungry.

This part made me giggle because I suddenly imagined Cullen wandering the halls and speaking about himself in the 3rd person.

Also, what the heck are you mixing that would smell like biscuits? Do you need to open a window? I recall when I was little visiting my grandparents here in TX... they lived around Dow Chemical and used to tell us if we ever smelled freshly cut grass near the plant, to run inside and make sure all the windows were closed. Berelinde: We know they are huffing red lyrium, and we know they're working with demons and worshipping the big bad of DAI. During the demo they shout things about "how we should give up and join him" (the big bad) and Cassandra refers to the big red demon working with the red Templars as the red Templars "pet".

As to whether or not they were originally on Lambert's side is anyone's guess. I'd presume so.

Hmm, smelled like fresh grass this morning, but that's because they were mowing the lawn under the air handlers. More likely just somebody microwaving something in the canteen down the hall. The fume hoods pull odors from everywhere.

You know, I could totally see Cullen wandering the corridors, muttering to himself in the third person, especially if things went badly after Meredith's death. Instability, fellow templars jumping ship in droves (and then causing pandemonium when their lyrium supplies started running low), accusations, horror at the what he found when some of the less-frequented parts of the Gallows were opened.

I suppose it's better than imagining a Highlander montage. "There can be only one!"

Apparently Nerd Appropriate are finally starting to release the audio from the DAI PAX panels tomorrow. They're releasing then gradually though, so my PAX info video won't get done until they've released all of them... which is typical.

Ah well, I needed a break from making DA videos anyway!

Did I understand Cameron right, did he say Morrigan's state depends on your choices?

So that would mean she might not be an orlais advisor every time, like when you did the ritual she didn't become an advisor only if you refused.

Yeah he did say that! Maybe the type of advice or whatever she'll give will depend on how humane she is I guess lol

I wonder how she is if the Warden stabbed her in the back?

Or if she finds out the warden didn't kill flemeth
Or is she finds out Hawke helped Flemeth
Or what about the Warden that dies at the End of DAO

OMG The possibilities!

Look at it this way: I'd rather use a character that was both hated and loved than one which nobody cared about either way. ;)

And this is something that gives me hope to have him in game!

To me it won't be that interesitng because that would mean that we would have to kill him since from what I understood the red templars are the bad guys here, so no I wouldn't want Cullen to have anything to do with them

Unless, he was forced into it, and we kind of save his Arse, making him kind of owe the Inq!

Yeah, with a mascot like this... Red Templars seem like some bad dudes. Esp since it looks like the demon has taken over a templar host somehow...? Creeeepy.

Well if mages can become victims because their magic...and templars learn a type of magic to track mages and so on...doesn't that make them available to hosts as well?

*snip*

Do we have any screenshots of an actual "Red Templar"? Because I gotta tell ya, I thought this guy was a representation of them all ... and he freaks me out. Posted Image Posted Image no really

Red Templars look like regular Templars, except their sword of mercy insignia on their uniform glows red, and the glow red in other places too. I'm wondering if they'll gradually deform and change over time? Especially if that massive red demon really was once a Templar.

It would make sense if that were the case since Tarohne (that quest with Keran) was blood magicking Templars to serve as hosts. Why not? The more, the merrier! lol

What's ironic about the red Templars is that they're now working with demons, not to mention the fact that they seemed to be conjuring and firing a type of magic themselves now.

When they attack the village in the demon they're shooting this awful looking, almost gloopy looking blood/red lyrium magic at everything. They're seriously ****ing creepy, yet coherent enough to talk and fight. Weird as hell.

That's because red lyrium is made of evil rainbows and possessed star dust. I bet snorting that stuff really just serves as a transfer medium for demons.

I honestly think this game with have a 'scary' factor to it.
Most of us have grown to love DA verse in some way or another, and it's going to shatter the world we know. I keep sensing a 'creepy' vibe coming from this and the more we learn the creepier it gets. But I like that! And the fact that it's going to be visually realistic, will make that more so.

For example, look at how the Inq walks in any of the videos. You can see he's clearly putting weight down. Like if you were standing beside him, his strides would make sense and you would 'hear' his feet hit the ground. I mean litterally. Look at the difference between the two first games and now.

Sure with the sound affects you can hear the character walking. But humor me. Put your volume on low and watch Inq walk. You could swear you're going to hear the ball of his foot hit the ground, his clothing make muffeld sounds as the leather and armor push up against it with his movements. Now that's crazy detail. Not only visually or to your hearing, but that's going to make it that much more real. WHICH WILL FREAK US OUT ! LOL<3

Yeah, the game does have a creepy feel to it. I found the whole concept of those red Templars more disturbing than the demons themselves. Watching what they did to those villages against the background of stunning fields and lakes was really unsettling!

... And the corpses after? Those are the ones from the trailer, you see it in more detail in the demo because it was day time, but those bodies kinda looked half burnt, but also like the life had been sucked out of them, leaving mummified husks. Horrendous!

Anyone else wondering which of the Templars we've met previously will end up on Team Red?
