I liked how they mention a background character from Origins will be getting similar treatment like Isabela did in DA2 for Inquisition. It gives me hope that its Cullen. *cough*

The question starts at 14:46 at The Art and Design of Bioware if anyone wants to hear it.

If it's not Cullen, then I wonder who else it could be? It would have to be someone who wasn't killable. Teagan, maybe?

You'd think if it was Cullen they would've said a DA2 character... Unless that would be too obvious? Do you suppose they mean "background character" as in a minor npc, or background character as in "one of the npcs you meet during the DA:O origin background stories"? If it's the latter then it could well be Cullen.

If Cullen is a companion/LI, I'm totally putting him in pink fur and taking a screenshot!

I'm gonna put everyone in pink all the time, tbh.

I gotta update this graphic with the Inquisiton symbol, haha.

Also, I wonder if they mean the "Isabela treatment" as in his/her physical appearance getting a complete revamp, or if it means his/her story will be more fleshed out and deeper? Making him/her an important character, rather than just a minor one?

Is this the panel we talked about already? The one where, was it Matt Rhodes? or one of the other devs commented on the  main threads about getting to spend more attention or detail or something on a DA:O minor character? I can't remember the details now, except that after the clarification I was convinced they were talking about Dagna.

I'm not sure. I think LadyInsanity took note of it, and that's what brought about the conversation. I'm convinced it's Dagna now, since Cullen was in DA2 and he was more important than just a background character in that.

Agree. I just don't see them talking about Cullen as a DA:O minor character any more. Haters in the main threads might like to pretend they didn't notice that Cullen was in DA2, but I think the BW folk did! LOL

On the plus side, giving non-party NPCs larger roles bodes well for the ones we want but who didn't make the roster.

Y'know, I was thinking, if that recent leak was legit, and depending on who the leaders of the Red Fists and Gold Keys are, those three groups could've been created by the Divine (before she dies, because she totally will!)

According to the leak the Purple Crows are led by Leliana, right? And we know she works/worked closely with the Divine. So, let's hypothetically say that Cullen really is the leader of the Red Fists, we also know that he too is very big on the word of the Divine and carrying out her orders etc. Now, if this third group is also led by someone who is also Divine loyal, for example, Sebastian then that's three pro-Divine people leading three separate groups.

If my guess is correct and all three really are pro-Divine (whoever the leaders may be), then maybe that sly old fox purposely separated the three characters into three different groups because she knew each leader could carry out a specific function based on their strengths and connections. And if she knows/knew about the Inquisitor then that's a way for her to ensure that our Inquisitor does not falter because whoever we go to for advice and choose to listen to is still going about things the right way.

This is just pure speculation, of course. Plus, I'm probably wrong because not everyone likes the Divine and would be pissed off if they found out that we were essentially carrying out her wishes (dead or alive), but it would certainly be interesting if she really had been pulling some strings to aid us in some way.

People would probably use that as an excuse to say that Bioware is trying to force the Chantry down our throats, and that the Inquisition is pro-chantry by default. Agreed though, she seems like someone who manages to stay highly involved in the events that are shaping Thedas.

Definitely! If they put that much work into returning characters that aren't companions then we'll likely get some decent conversation out of them, and that bodes well for Cullen, because even if he's just an npc then hopefully we'd at the very least get answers to someone the big questions we've been dying to ask him.

Oh! Cullen and Dagna probably remember each other from their time at the circle, before Cullen got sent away! I wonder if they'll mention each other, of if Dagna would fill in a few gaps as to Cullen's mental state back then.

Funny, that reminds me of an Amell/Cullen fanfic I read once where Amell returned to the tower after the Blight and she would confide in Dagna about her feelings and sexual antics with Cullen, LOL!

If it's speculation, it might not be as wild as you think. This is a BioWare game. At some point, you're going to have to work for someone you don't want to work for. It builds character.

Seriously, that's what they do. It makes you think. Sometimes, you really do have to deal with people you wouldn't ordinarily deal with, and it's all good RP.

Berelinde: That's very true! I mean, I don't mind either way so long as it's interesting. Plus, the Divine certainly seems to be a wiley one! After reading Asunder I realised just how many webs she'd been spinning in order to aid the mages etc.

Man, wouldn't it be something if it turned out that she was one of the big bad's agents? Like, everything she'd done to look into reversing tranquility and stuff was to cause more problems for Thedas, LOL! Crazy 'n' unlikely, but what a twist!

I wouldnt see it as unlikely since relegion throughout history has done some terrible things in the name of "God"or Maker..

Blood orgy, ritual sacrifice to the Cullen, a bit of bridge. Not much overall, typical Wednesday.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only female that doesn't like to wear pink (Do not like the color) or heels. I do not like to get dressed up makes me feel awkward.

One thing I really disliked in ME1 was the damn Phoenix armor. Then there was this quest ... I think it was the quest line where you tried to save Admiral Kahoku and every box/locker I looted would give me a damn phoenix armor. I think I had them all, for all the races. It was especially frustrating when you were looking for a new armor and all you got was Phoenix :pinched: But I do have to admit that putting Wrex in that armor gave me a good chuckle, heh.

I don't think they would make Cullen in to a bad guy, at least not without reason. He has seen both sides of the coin, mages going crazy and Templars. He has seen what red lyrium can do to people, so I don't see him taking it voluntarily or any of the Templars in Kirkwall that have seen what happened to Meredith.

I'm kinda wondering what personality they'll go with in his case. In DA:O he did take a bit of a radical stance, telling you to kill all the Mages. In DA2, I think they soften him a bit. So I'm wondering, how he'll be in DA:I.

But I also can see him throwing it all to the wind, like that picture of the Grey Warden, I could totally see Cullen do the same thing if he sees Templars resorting to huffing/eating/snorting/etc. red lyrium.

Of course, I can only speak for myself, but please don't think this way. I would hate for you to do them out of a sense of obligation, because there is none. I love your vid's, make them when you feel up to it and about whatever tickles your fancy. Me being excited about them isn't meant to put preassure on you.

On my story that continues Trust... it's coming!  I've been in a writing rut the last couple of months, but I've  completed the first, I dunno, 50,000 words or so, up through and including the Trust scene so far! I wanted to get a bit further before I started posting it. But... here's the cover, as a teaser! :D
