From the Twitter thread, hornless qunari are a playable option (you can choose horns or no horns), and you can play as a Dalish mage.
Do you have the original link to the dev that said it?

It could mean that we will literally not know our involvement in the breach until later on in the story.LolaLei wrote...

Altho, I thought MLaw (or was it Darrah?) said that we wouldn't know the extent of our involvement in the breach, which suggests against something playable that (at least fully) explains our role in the veil rip.
Intriguing... I wonder if that means we'll be suffering some sort of amnesia at the start? Kinda like in KOTOR where we didn't realise that we were originally a bad guy.
Like "Surprise! It's all your fault!

I think they're referring to DA:I. The inclusion of a Dalish mage may signal a return of background choice as well. Something very missed by many in DA2.ag99 wrote...

or perhaps it takes a while for us to learn what caused it, and only then do we realize that our past actions were somehow related. I dunno. It was when they were also trying to explain the Chantry being related as well. i.e. clear as mud! LOLLolaLei wrote...

Oh ok but I thought MLaw said that now that they have included back the races they had to get rid of the backgrounds or something like that.. or was it DG who said that? I just remember seeing it somewhere in the DAI forums when they announced that the selection of races are back, but either way I kind of expected the dalish to be part of the characters "background " since between Ferelden and Orlais there is the Dales

I feel like one of the devs said that our actions may or may not have played a part in it. But I'm not sure if that was the devs hinting, like "we may or may not get a castle" *hint hint*, or that literally a decision we make in the playable prologue means that we either played a part in causing it, or refused to do whatever it was that caused it, but it happened anyway.

@ag99, you're right. DG did say that. So maybe dalish Mage is just a button you can choose in chargen, without it being a full background story?

Ah oki, well i guess if they dont want us to actually play our background maybe they can at least include some sort of a text on our background? Like a codex or something to let us know about the characters history, I mean sure we know the history of the Dalish, city elfs, dwarfs and so forth but I mean for like new ppl to DA.
Apparently the fact that our race and class will be featured heavily in conversation/interactions will kinda serve as part of our background story, or something like that.

aww that sux hope you get better soon I've always hated puking blah
@Lola
Ah yea, forgot that they said that depending on what class / race we choose there are gonna be some different responses/opinions from the NPC's and companions
And also yea its kinda cool that they will let us to actually intervene in the party banter but I think they said that you only get to do so at "specific times" like if ur party talks about you or something like that

No, you can only be a Circle mage as an elf.

Was Surana originally from the city, do you think? Or was he/she a Dalish that was unfortunate enough to have been taken away from his/her clan due to magic?

I believe you have the option of saying you're from Denerim at least... not sure about being Dalish. If so, it's a one time question and answer thing, when someone (forgot who) asks where you're from.

It'll be interesting if it does turn out we were involved, even if it was accidentally. I wonder how someone like Cassandra, or even Cullen would react to discovering you were somehow involved? Especially if you're a mage.

Does anyone else get the impression that Cassandra and Varric will be the first two permanent companions we'll meet, since any temp companions we get will likely end up getting bumped off pretty early on, LOL.
Wouldnt surprise me, altho im kinda curious how will we get to recruit Viv, I mean do we get her from the circle in Orlais or do we meet her on the street somewhere lol
