Does anyone else get the impression that Cassandra and Varric will be the first two permanent companions we'll meet, since any temp companions we get will likely end up getting bumped off pretty early on, LOL.

I get that feeling too. Cassandra has a movie, Varric has a game as well as the comics...we are most likely going to get them first. I wonder how we're going to get them - and it's been said, but I am also curious as to how and why Varric ended up traveling with Cassandra.

yea it looks like its a given Cass and Varric will be our 1st companions not to mention that one concept art where Cass has that "ceremony" of making you the Inquisitor

Makes me wonder if they'll stumble across us unconcious from the whole veil rip thing, and drag our arse to safety or something.

Y'know, maybe that'll be an extra layer to why you become the Inquisitor? Like, if you were somehow directly involved (even accidentally) you decide to form the Inquisition because you feel it's partly your fault, so it's up to you to sort the mess out. Or, if you play a character who's like "pfft, give a sh!t" then Cassandra is like "BULLSH!T! This is your fault, now you sort it out or I'll run my blade through you".

I usually prefer to play that second type of character :D Although my first Hawke was super noble. But usually I like to play the troubled youngster without a cause lol

I also think we will meet them first, and I think it will be in the aftermath of the disaster... or perhaps Cass is alerted to what happened and seeks us out (while we're recovering somewhere).

Ooo maybe! Like, she learns that there was a survivor and actively seeks us out, and of course she'd bring Varric along since he's probably the one that heard the "rumour". I think I quite like that idea. For example, Flemeth saves our arse (because it's tradition), and then she either drops us off in some tiny village, or after we've recovered we make our way to the nearest village to find somewhere to stay and presumably ponder wtf we should do. Then maybe we get ourselves into a bit of trouble in a tavern brawl or something, and in come Cass and Varric like a pair of badasses to aid us, which is when we discover that they were actively seeking us out.

No idea, that'll probably be one of the last things they release, presumably. I wonder when the devs will release the next wave of DAI info?

Idk ppl ont he twitter thread were asking the same thing if there will be another event that they may be releasing some new info but Allan said that his not sure that there will be on anytime soon he said that there is that Edmond expo thing but he believes that they gonna show the same thing as they did at PAX prime

So I guess its safe to say that the next time we will get new info about the game will probably be at PAX east

Sometime around April 2014 then, that sounds about right. By then they'll be really amping up the publicity and promotion since it'll be coming out that year. We've got 7 months, LOL.

I imagine the Sprint Reviews will become shorter and shorter now. The last one consisted of about 10 tweets, lol. It's weird to think that by this time next year the game will be super close to release, and around this time will likely be when they start telling us about the companions/romance options.

AAAH yesss I can't wait for that precious moment<3

(hopefully they will annouce Cullen as one of the companions *pray's to God* I know that it may be unlikely that he will be a companion but I still carry the hope torch lol )

Lol, if not then I dread to think how bad the trolling is going to get for us!

What I'm intrigued about is whether or not that leak about the red fists/gold keys/purple crows thing is legit. And if so, just how much interaction/involvement the leaders of each will have with our Inquisitor.

Well they will probably just be advisors just like with Leliana and her purple crows or  that elf guy they mentioned, I guess we either go to their location or we get to "plan" with them our next move on the situation in the so called war room , I dont really think there will be THAT much interaction probably something along the lines like Cullen in DA2 maybe

Maybe, although if it is legit, and my theory about Morrigan possibly being the leader of the gold keys is correct then we already know we'll have a lot of interaction with her according to the devs, so that would probably mean that we would with the other two as well.

Ok here's what I've got from the race NA panel recording. The times are approximate so if you go to that spot the info should be either right there or a little before or after. It's somewhere around that bit...trust me :)

(Gee I hate typing up notes on an iPad....could they have made it any more difficult deliberately!)

4.25 Races will have different backgrounds but not playable origins.

15 There will be gender and race specific movements/animations.

19 All the races will have content specific to that races role/place in Thedas society. I gather that this is to give the player more information about the culture they've chosen to be a part of.

21. Players can be Qunari mages but NOT Saarebas.

23. They want the female Qunari model to look as intimidating as the male model so the visual emphasis is on athleticism in body type. This answer was given in response to a question about whether the fem Qunari would be given the standard fantasy female 'sexy' makeover.

28. Racial abilities are being investigated.

32. Horns for the Qunari PC will be optional and operate like hairstyles in the CC screen, they will probably not be commented on in the game.

38. The PC can be a Dalish Mage.

42. There will be opportunities for the PC to comment or give their reaction to their set protagonist background in the game. So you will have input into deciding your characters feelings about their past.

44. They want the prospect of becoming a blood Mage to feel threatening/dangerous the PC. They don't want it to be a specialisation unlocked with a button click. I'm taking this to mean cutting dark deals with demons is back in!

47. The strict gender roles found in Qunari society will be something that the Qunari protagonist will be able to discuss in the game.

That's pretty much what I took away from the recording, there are other interesting snippets but these seem the most concrete.

Well I think the reson why we would have  alot more interacton with Morrigan is because she's more of an "Iconic figure"  to the plot besides everyone else  I mean she is an appostate and had an old god baby and all  and not to mention  shes Flemeth's daughter, and she may have alot more say in the matters of the whole mage templar thing, then the others would.

As for Leliana ..idk im not even sure what the purple crows stand for to be hones,  but I suspect that she may make a few more apperances here and there so I guess she would be at our "coronation "as well based on the concept art  and maybe she has something to do with it? Cant really say much about that at this time since we have little information about them

Man, this game is certainly shaping up to be something special! I really hope they're able to implement everything they want/need into it, they've got a year left but I worry that maybe they're biting off more than they can chew at times.

Thank you for the details , I quoted this specific aspect as I am a little bit confused I thought that Saarebas was a qunari word for  mage?

Thanks a lot! And 21 is a good answer - I tweeted Mr. Laidlaw about this very subject about three weeks ago and got no response; figured I wouldn't since it's still so early in development. I had asked if since Saarebas have their mouth sewn shut if the the Qunari mage we play will have the scars. But here's my answer right here. Seems like our Qunari was born outside the Qun.

Hiya :)

The context in which the dev made the comment was that the PC won't be able to be the lips sown together, control rod, mute guy we've known as a Saarebus. You can be a (to totally avoid the whole what's a Qunari/kossith stuff) a Ox man racial type who is a Mage but you cannot be the tied up, lip etc guy because well....how would that character work as a protagonist.

I hope that made sense....the Qunari are weird. :)

oh so Saarebus just means that they have their lips stitched?

edit  I guess this could have been  a  "pro" for those who dont want their protagonist to be voiced lol

Wow, thanks for this!!! [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/wizard.png[/smilie] And now for my snarky comments.... :innocent:

Oh great; I was afraid they were going to deprive us of broken-hipped FemQuisitor.

21. Players can be Qunari mages but NOT Saarebas.

I wonder why? I wonder if adding qunari as playable races was a last minute thing, and they just couldn't think of a way to work in why a mage qunari would be an inquisitor. Or perhaps there is only one origin story for each race, and the origin story for the qunari inquisitor only works for a non-mage (a mage would have to break away from his/her karetan or whatever).

23. They want the female Qunari model to look as intimidating as the male model so the visual emphasis is on athleticism in body type. This answer was given in response to a question about whether the fem Qunari would be given the standard fantasy female 'sexy' makeover.

28. Racial abilities are being investigated.

They shouldn't waste their time lol who even uses that crap in Skyrim...

38. The PC can be a Dalish Mage.

Ahem... moving on....

42. There will be opportunities for the PC to comment or give their reaction to their set protagonist background in the game. So you will have input into deciding your characters feelings about their past.

Nice :D I can hear my PC already... "Stupid shem!! I should have never left my clan / allowed them to all be blown up in a massive veil rip over which I had no control! / whatever lol

47. The strict gender roles found in Qunari society will be something that the Qunari protagonist will be able to discuss in the game.

I like this because this could be a huge reason why my QunQuisitor left the Qun.

Wait--OH!! I totally misread SG's original quote. So we're mages but NOT Saarebas! Ahh, yes, born outside the Qun! Good catch!
