No point, let them dislike what they wanna dislike. At the end of the day their pissing and moaning won't sway the devs minds to remove him from the game, anymore than us squeeing and begging would to get them to make him a companion/LI.

In a way we've already got our wish anyway, we know he's in the game thanks to Greg Ellis' tweet about recording Cullen's dialogue. That's what got them all riled up in the first place, because he's made it into the game a third time.

Yea but one thing that kinda  "scares" me is that the devs listen to the ppl and if there are enough complaints out there......... who knows...  idk I began to be a lil protective and paranoid when it comes to Cullen discussions but luckely there are severeal ppl in there that might want him in the game , as a companion that is

The companions are set in stone at this point. No amount of forum vitriol will change that. About the only thing complaints will accomplish is inspiring in-game banter to counter nay-sayers, and I can't say I'm opposed to that.

At this point the companions/LIs are locked in, as are the main npcs 'n' stuff. If he isn't isn't either of those things then there isn't anything that can be done about it. Regardless, it won't be due to the haters or his fans.

I should really be cleaning the house, but I can't pull myself away. The BSN has sucked me in.

I heard that 'battle nugs' will be in Heroes of Dragon Age. Maybe it's got claws for a reason.

Bwahaha! Battle Nugs, hoooooooo!

The size progression suggests they should be available to ride by dwarves. I'd roll a dwarf if it meant I could ride a nug.

They could hold little dwarven nug jousts... to raise money for the Inquisition cause. Image IPB

Yea I suppose that's true, Im glad he will make an appearance in the game even tho I would love for him to be a companion, I get the feeling more and more that he will be an NPC again... oh well ... its better then not seeing him at all I will take what I can get :)

I wonder if the devs are reading that thread and what they might be thinking. I know Allan has read some of it, but it's moving pretty quickly. I have a feeling it's going to get locked before too long... However, no one has personally attacked anyone yet that I've seen, so maybe it won't.

They probably get bored of reading the same 4 arguments over and over again, lol!

Yeah, I only poked in for a little bit, but it's all the same crap. over and over. If someone's gonna hate him for
1. saying mages aren't like you and me,
2. not being the hero of the game and confronting meredith in act 1, or
3. saying mean things about mages while being imprisoned and tortured by mages,

then they're just gonna hate him. Their loss. The devs have seen/heard it all before.

(edit: the only unusual thing seems to be that they're focused on the character for once, and not his fans :blink:)

Honestly, whenever I see any Templar related thread pop up I try to stay well clear of it. You're fighting a losing battle trying to to have a sensible conversation in there. It's a shame, because some people in them have some legitimate questions, theories, and thoughts regarding Cullen.

I did see some ppl in there who are awesome and should come in here  and take part into the Cullen family:P

The funny thing is and I think I've read pretty much the whole thread currently going now is that the fact that Cullen seems to be able to polarize audience opinion so effectively is to me why he'd make such a strong companion character. He's already far less character and more 'the Templar' viewpoint than anything else in these discussions. I believe one of the stated aims for companions is that they can encapsulate a theme or worldview of the story that the devs want to shine a light on.

Anyway as you all say, the decision about his role in Inquisition has been made long ago by those who know what the story they're telling is and I'm not going to question the direction or development of characters they select for their purposes. I just think he'd be a really good opportunity to humanise the Templar side of the conflict.

The thing I've been wondering about lately is that I hope he hasn't turned into Lord of the Red Lyrium brigade....I don't want to have to kill Cullen!

Or if he's a companion, but he's ALSO the leader of the Red Templars... He's being a mole, directing his Templars from secret, yet watching everything you do. "Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer" kind of thing.

Agreed. I'd definitely consider it a huge missed opportunity if he isn't a companion/LI. Tbh, if he isn't then I think that'll be down to the fact that Cassandra is a companion. Granted, she's a Seeker not a Templar, but they're pretty much the same thing since the Seekers are just a more important version. The whole Templar POV will be provided by her.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Cassandra but she did already get a full movie made about her. I would've prefered either a) learnt about her past via DAI, not a movie. Or B) not have her as a companion, and see her in an important npc role instead.

I'll definitely be a little peed off if Cullen's role in DAI isn't a big one.

Oh! I know how our Inquisitor could be meeting up with Cullen... Oh, darn. Forgot about the Circles rebelling. Well, in any case:

Suppose he was on his way to Val Royeaux, escorting mages that didn't rebel in Kirkwall (like the three that surrendered) to a new Circle, and he meets up with the Inquisitor there? He could have been escorting them before all the Circles decided to rebel, been almost there, and then when he gets there, he finds out that there isn't any Circle left. So he goes to the Divine to find out what he should do, and where he should go, and while he's there, Cassandra and Varric show up with the soon to be Inquisitor in tow. And Vivienne is there already, because she's pro-Circle.

The game takes place after the Asunder novel, when the circles have already rebelled, lol.

I get the impression Allan just likes to challenge assumptions in arguments.....and probably wants to let people know his all seeing eye is upon them so watch the pitchforks!

I have this sickening sense that David Gaider and friends might enjoy making us dismember the fan-Favourite Knight Captain. Surely they couldn't be sooooo lost to human feeling! :0
