Out of curiosity, has anyone else in here compared Cassandra and Varric's DA2 models to their DAI counterparts, studied the similarities and differences, and then tried to picture what Cullen will look like in DAI? Or am I just obsessed?

I began 2 others, but can't say if I'll finish every one of them, they are at a very early stage :
-Cullen refreshing himself after a training, inspired by R2s Muse scene
-Cullen having a break somewhere in a camp, reading a book (totally came of nowhere this idea lol, but I want to draw him in a peace and introspective scene...)
As told to R2s Muse, should do another fighting scene named after another templar skill : Righteous.

Beside that, I resumed a DAO game with Karmas companion mod. Never reached the end of the game with it. I find the romance with Cullen entertaining so far, but I really miss Ellis voice...
Phew,  I'm very Cullen-busy these days. :innocent:

I get what you mean about being very Cullen-busy, I think I've been very Cullen/DAI busy for about a year and a half now since finding this thread, lol.

The eyes seem more realistic for Cassandra, and Varric's eyes looked kind of muddy in the first trailer that we saw, but they look better in the screen shots for the GI article... So I think Cullen's eyes will probably stand out more. Maybe we'll have a better idea of their color? Hazel flecked with green? Also, since everyone is excited about hair, I think his hair will have a little more texture to it, being a short, curly style. And I imagine that his undereye will have those dark shadows that I think may come from lyrium addiction, or stress, or both.

I think that's a very bad angle for Varric 2.0. In the PAX demo, he was actually quite attractive, (which is difficult for someone like me to say because I did not like him one bit). I don't think he looked like his DA2 self at all.

Needless to say, Cassandra's face is a lot more square and more angled. I like it myself.

Personally, if we want an idea of how Cullen will look, I think we're best looking at a character who's been in all three games like Leliana and Alistair. But we've yet to see them so....

With the new engine, the overall rendering seems more colourful, more cartoon-like. In the same time I find the character design more realistic, from their skin tone (can look dirty, sweaty etc..) to their facial features (which I find more "sharpened").

When I look at Cassandra here, I really don't worry about Cullen's future design. Humans seems great and I don't think his face features will change much.


In fact the problem is not Cullen's design itself but the way he's going to be "animated". Can be still a hottie but with awful expressions...
I don't know if I make myself understandable.

I think the only thing we can say for sure is that his skin will have a much more realistic look to it. I mean we'll see more detail, pores, hairs etc.

I've really liked the direction they've taken in the art I've seen. It seems grittier and closer to reality to me, I liked DA2's more graphic novel (except for the elves and Alistair, they were unsettling. I'm ashamed to say I rethought a romance for one of my DAO characters after catching sight of Zev in DA2.....I know, I know, I'm a terrible person!) approach but I prefer the images from frostbite by a huge margin.

I've read some of the criticisms of Morrigan and Cassandra but I can't see the issues myself, to me they just look better. So I can't imagine how good Cullen will look....well maybe I could try a little.

I'm actually curious to see how his nose will come out. I don't know why, but DAO noses always bothered me. DA2 noses were pretty good, though. So... Yeah. His nose.

Funny, in the trailer I found the angle Cassandra is at to be the least flattering. In the demo itself she's much prettier and slightly more like her DA2 counterpart than I first thought. Varric I think looks like a more realistic version of his DA2 model, but that was something I also only noticed once I watched the demo.

Overall they both look enough like their DA2 versions for you to tell who they are based on just their facial features alone, but at the same time it's still a big change/upgrade. Providing they keep the basic facial features of what makes Cullen recognisable then he shouldn't look too dissimilar.

I've noticed that they've darkened up Varric's hair this time around. His hair was the same colour as Cullen's in DA2, so I reckon Cullen will be going back to his DA:O hair colour again too.

Wow, Cass's face right here makes me think of Sigourney Weaver.

Maybe they darkened up Varric's hair because of the complaints that all the male LI's have been blonde up to this point. Not to say that Varric is an LI this time around, but... Wow if he is. That would be a surprise.

If she works with Leliana, I don't think she'd have much choice in the matter.

So, I finished making my new Hawke (for purposes of seeing Cullen take Bethany to the circle) and I really like her. Is it way too juvenile to post a picture....I've never made a Hawkey, looking Hawke before with the classic hair 'n' all. I even made her a new skin texture, just you know 'cause....

I'd tell you her name but I've forgotten it.....why is Hawke always just Hawke?

For topic relevance sake......this is my Hawke who would totally romance Cullen if only we were allowed to because Cullen is lovely.

Yep, I used Leandra's face morph. You just open up your chargenmorph file in the override and add her file name to the list under human female morph_config. Actually you can do the same thing to add the morph of anyone you like the look of. I'll track down the file name for you in case you don't have it.

PS - I'm pretty sure that's who I used anyway, I've got my standard face I use and change up which I saved as a seperate morph so I didn't have to bother doing it all the time again.  I'm 98% certain that it was based off Leandra 'cause she's actually really pretty.

I just realized that unless you are F5ing your not going to know I've edited the post with the file name. So that was a bit silly, I was trying to be less spammy....
