If it's done right, most certainly. So long as it doesn't feel lacking, or seem obvious that it was done just so that we could shag him to "shut the fangirls up" then it could totally work. 

Personally, I'd still prefer him as a companion/LI, just because I wanted to take him back to Ferelden and drag him into the Fade directly so that he can see for himself what it's like to be a mage etc, but right now I'll take whatever I can get from him in terms of screentime, since I'm pretty convinced that he won't be a companion again.

Morrigan, Cass and Varric aren't cameos though. 2 are companions and one is a massively important character that we'll have loads of interaction and encounters with.

Cassandra was little more than semi-major Npc in DA2,  Varric I agree is a bit much considering he was a major companion in the last game, but he was everyone's bro...it wasn't something unique to male players and I'm assuming he's there to tie is to DA2.  Even before we heard Morrigan was in the game when we heard about the Fade tear we expected Morrigan and/or Flemeth was going to play a role. 

If you can blame BioWare for anything it's making their male characters too self contained within their plots. Though Sebastian was going to get a return in that expansion and we don't know how much any other unannounced characters are going to be involved in the plot.

He didn't really have to say that last part if it's same same as the other games, with only followers romanceable, right...?

This is my one concern with stay-at-home romances. "Romancing" Sebastian was pretty disappointing to the point where you almost wonder why you bothered. (*almost* cough*cough*)

Yeah I don't mean to sound hostile I just went through the last four or five pages and felt bad for liking Morrigan and you know having her role boiled down to fan bait kinda hurt...idk it shouldn't,  but it's like saying that we want Cullen purely for his looks, there's more to it than that.

Totally digging that idea of dragging Cullen along into the fade and showing him the other side of the mage/templar issue.


I actually like the idea of romance-able non-followers. If only for the 'How was your work today?' conversations. But yeah, no matter what, I hope the romances will be fleshed out nicely. I rivalmanced Sebastian once... totally cute, even faked Anders death for him (he will never find out that I used a stage-knife, right? )... only to have him forget about that promise he made about 'getting me no less than a prince'  If both he and Hawke turn up in DA:I I expect some arguing about that....

It's been a few pages ago, but I have to join the crew who hide from the Inquisition threads a bit more... Pff, quite a rabid bunch there sometimes XD Nonetheless, I do still hope that Cullen will (somehow) pop up for DA:I. I think that it would be great to get to know him better and get to know the whole story, apart from the bits we've seen in DA:O and DA:2. Obviously I would not mind if he showed up as a LI, as long as he does not show up hostile (I will refuse to kill him ... I could not kill Anders either ) I will be happy.

You just happen to be lucky because you fit the coveted demographic. DG and company are incapable of writing bad characters, so there's no shame in liking any of them, obviously. (Isabela, the allged canon LI according to the DA2 trailer, is my 2nd favorite character) 

But it's about why some characters are carried over (as stated by the dev a few pages back -- to please the fans). But which fans? Not me. The marketing doesn't give a crap about me. I'm female, I'm over 30... they're just lucky I even care to pick up a controller. Young, male, straight, probably white... that's who they're anxious to market to. That's why Cass, Varric, Morrigan, and Leliana are returning. And not Zevran, Fenris, Aveline, and Cullen.

(Well yes Cullen will be in the game, but who knows how.)

I know! I had played DAO soooo many times and never stumbled on the flirt-with-Teagan option until a year ago! And then I thought, "I can romance a non-party member? Woooo!" Only to find disappointment...

She had no need to be in DA2, we didn't do anything to warrant her returning.

Tbh, I felt that Morrigan's story was pretty much done when they sent her through the mirror. If I was still playing as the Warden then it would be of interest to her to find out what became of her friend. However, my Inquisitor doesn't know Morrigan or have any emotional ties with her, so I kinda feel like the moments past, if you get what I mean?
