Interesting info Ag99 I think it is indeed better for them to wait with providing companion/LI information untill things are set in stone. Although I admit I would not mind if little bits of information get released as times passes

I know that many ppl don't want to spoil themselves with info about companions/LI but personally I would like to know who they are cause if Cullen isn't one of them, then I would have time to pass my disappointment

Maybe they'll tell us one or two romances in February? I sincerely hope they have time to implement everyone they've got planned.

They may tell us witch of the 3 companions that have already been revealed would be a romance.. not quite sure if they will reveal the rest of the companions so early but who knows, but if they gonna announce witch of the three would be romance-able I would go for either Cassandra or Viv

Feb. 14th would be the perfect day to release such information, but that does seem a wee bit early, especially if nothing's set in stone yet. I think ag99 might be right about how if they did say something, probably about who we already know about, and it'd probably be a female character, since if Varric, much like Cullen, is romanceable, I can see them wanting to string us along a little longer. But maybe they'll surprise us!

I don't mind if this information is spoiled at all, but I would think it to be a pity if all information would be thrown out at once instead of releasing bits. Keeps me more hyped about the whole thing if the latter is used.

Agreed. I'd prefer information to be released to us gradually (but regularly) throughout the year until its release.

If they plan hope to release the names of the romanceable companions on Feb 14, they're going to have to name more than three names before that date. So that's good news! With DA2, they didn't confirm that Anders was a companion until late January with a March release date.

I'm kinda confused, is the big announcement they're talking about related to DA Heroes or DAI?

If it's DAI, maybe they've realized that identifying two female companions, a host of non-recruitable female NPCs, and Varric wasn't the fairest way to handle it and they're going to rectify that by identifying another male companion? Hey, a girl can hope!

Not having been at the Edmonton BW panel, I'm just guessing based on ag99 share of fan summary. But, I can't help but wonder if the Valentine's Day promise of LI reveal was a little tongue in cheek. That's what they did with DA2, right, and sure, it's a cute gimmick. But part of me doesn't put too much stock in it, for all the reasons mentioned about how early that is...

If it was tongue in cheek, it wasn't as blatant as usual. Mailboxes weren't mentioned.

If David Gaider had his druthers, they wouldn't announce any of the companions - let alone LIs - until the game was actually out just because he hates dealing with fan disappointment, but there are two ways to deal with disappointment. The first way is to delay the news as long as possible in hopes that folks will be happy enough to have a game in their hands that they won't start a sh!tstorm on the forums. The second way is to get it all out there as early as possible to let folks get over it and move on. A Feb 14 date would definitely allow enough time for fans to overcome their disappointment and get excited about the game again.

I'm a big proponent of the second approach. I already had my "You aren't getting what you want, so get over it" moment when they announced Vivienne, claiming the spot for pro-Circle mage. I still rage that they're being so closed-mouthed about the boys, but for the most part, my big disappointment is over and I can enjoy the anticipation without the stress. If they announced the other companions and announced the LIs, it might actually cut down on forum drama.

Agree with this; I mean if the game is due to drop, say, November 2014, and they release all the LI in September 2014, and they turn out to be, oh, say Varric and Dorian, I would be so upset that I might not even buy the game two months later lol 

But if they released that devestating news in February 2014, I'd have time to get over it and start being interested in the game again, aside from the romances.
