Ugh, love Champions and Heroes... but this one gives me the heebie jeebies...

It does have that "stalker hiding in the bushes outside your bedroom window" feeling.... Image IPB

More like a skeevie Frollo from Hunchback of Notre Dame, church sex scandal feel... he doesn't look like he's remotely enjoying any of it. It's like guilt and sin, personified...

Not getting a skeevy vibe at all. I confess, I would be nervous myself, not being the type to frequent brothels .... :?

Anyways, I don't think Cullen was really put off by the Blooming Rose. Cullen's problem, in a nutshell, was that he's a high-ranking police officer trying to convince a bunch of sex workers to inform on the illegal activities of his fellow cops. Assisting Cullen could potentially harm these prostitutes' livelihoods. Not the easiest investigation to pull off.

So, I finally got around to watching Dragon Age Redemption. Respect for using your own money to create fanart and all... but Maker! I used to think Tallis was bad in MotA! Now I see that they brought out their A-team for writing that, after all. Note to self: In future, avoid. It kinda makes me wish I could afford to hire voice actors.

Speaking of which, I heard a guy in the grocery store the other day. Nobody special. Just some dude, talking to the customer service rep about the availability of wild-caught salmon. I literally had to fight to keep myself from walking up to him and saying "If I give you $50, will you spend an afternoon talking into a microphone for me?" His voice was just that good. It wasn't incredibly sexy or incredibly anything. It was just... really clear, and really articulate, and distinctive and pleasant-sounding. He had beautiful enunciation and an agreeable timbre. That's how I know I have a modding soul, I guess. I wish I had mustered the courage to ask for his contact info. He probably would have thought I was some creepy cougar. Honest, ser, I'm a modder! Really!

I wish I had proper equipment, I'd probably give VO a shot!

VO work is fun, if you don't mind not getting paid. If you're curious about it, register on the BSN as voice talent. Modders can't pay you, but those that live close to you are usually willing to drive to your house with their equipment, provide you with food and alcohol, and give you full credit for anything they record. Or at least that's what I offered as compensation to anyone who lived within 200 miles of the Delaware River.

I liked Redemption alright - it was nothing special, but I enjoyed the lore and even the characters. Tallis does rub me the wrong way. It's definitely the way she's written - disliking her comes down to how little depth is given into her personality, past, and how few flaws she has. I thought watching Redemption would give me a better insight, but I was disappointed. I appreciate her inability to fully explain her belief in the Qun however, because what person doesn't have that doubt but posesses a willingness to believe and fight for it? She's had a lot of screen time, and I know next to nothing about her, with very little interest to find out more. I'm very careful in using the term "Mary Sue"...but there you go.

Speaking of Mary Sues, I hope that none of our companions will be that way in Inquisition.

We kind of already know about Cassandra. She stabs books, throws books in people's faces (poor Varric) and yells "Bull****!" a lot. Not really a Mary Sue.

Vivienne seems pretty cocky from what little I've seen of her. She seems like she might be older, but I'm not sure. I doubt that she's a Mary Sue.

Sera... No idea. But the concept art of her at the tavern with Cass, Inquisitor and Grey Warden tells me she's got a crude sense of humor and might be fun to hang out with. So probably not a Mary Sue.

Morrigan, we all know she's not a Mary Sue. And Leliana came close to being a Mary Sue, but I think her shadowy past makes up for being all "Maker this" and "Maker that", and who knows if she's like that anymore.

Honestly, I don't even know what "Mary Sue" means anymore. I heard a lot of people call Liara a Mary Sue because of her plot armor I guess. Bella Swan is the one female that pops in my mind when people say Mary Sue.

I like this snippet of explanation, but I can't really think of any BioWare character in the games i played so far.

To me, it looks as if he's hyperventilating out of fear. Whether fear of the girl by the door of fear of being seen, I couldn't tell you.

My interpretation was actually this: He was feeling awkward of entering the brothel for the investigation, as he could already guess that the ladies would not really be cooperative (but might try to seduce him anyway) and gossips that would spread (naughty templar!). As he was quite nervous, he wanted to attempt to get calm again, and tried to get his breathing under controll (breath in.... breath out), but, saying that in-and-out-thing to himself, he noticed the pun and went totally Sebastians--like 'I need to pray... a lot.'

VERY interesting read, thank you (I've been wondering about Mary Sue, the concept is new to me and I don't know that we have a swedish equivalent)!!

Yeah, this is how I take it as well (maybe throw in him noticing some physical reaction to the in-out thing, but that's just my mind being what it is).

Panters don't usually need to remind themselves to pant, do they..? Image IPB

That was an amazing read. I'm keeping it bookmarked for future readings and linkings =) All those terrible female power fantasies, indeed.

The 'physical reaction' is what triggers the Image IPB 'I need to pray' in my mind Image IPB
