You know I'm a bit late to the party, but a lot has happened in the last few years (in game). There was Asunder, the comics, Dragon Age Redemption, the Masked Empire is going to happen in that time...idk seems like in the past year or so Thedas just went to ****e...well more so lol.

I really liked Cairne (the templar dude) and although the lore holes bothered me, not the lady Qunari fighting, but the whole thing surrounding Cassandra. I actually wish she'd write some more on Tallis, but if she were to appear in game again I just want her to kind of tone it down because we are the main character and that needs to be reinforced

What do you mean?

At the tavern the group has a little conversation and Cassandra is brought up but they futs her position in a way that you can't really fix it in world without saying x person was wrong.

LOL Danny, that's the most oblique explanation I think I've ever heard. Nyree said Cass was the leader of the Seekers, and DG later had to correct that, because she's not.

Ah, that one! Wasn't it the templar who called her the leader (which is worse)..? Those kinds of slips don't bother me much, I was more dumbfounded in the first episode when Tallis escapes the templar by rolling down a small hill. He stands there, poor thing, defeated by a knoll that wouldn't cause my grandmother to slow down. Image IPB

Btw any news on Coming Storm Part Three?

LOL Naw. But, Thread Mom says, "Just don't accidentally drop your phone in..." :)

And, funny you ask. Chapter 3 is done, and this morning I'm working on Chap 4, which is the end. I want to see how the ending plays out and how it meshes with what I wrote in #3 before I release them both.

But, for the record, Chapter 3 is entitled, "Varric." :D  Coming soon, to a fanfic site near you!

That could be, altho I thought it was Nyree. It bothered me because at that point we still didn't know much about the Seeker and Templar hierarchy (and honestly, we still don't...). So it could have been very useful info... except that it was wrong. Grrrr.

Yeah, I know what you mean. In the DLC, her justifications of the Qun stuff made my head spin. In DA:R it was easier to gloss over that. Get back important artifact from bad guy. Stop bad stuff. The plot was more straightforward (from what little I remember of it).

Hmm, speaking of which, does the DLC or the vid come first? Because in the vid she ends it by saying that she might be tal vashoth next time they meet. Then in the DLC, she's more qunari than ever.

Danny Boy 7 wrote...
I understand it as a certain amount of blindness to the people that basically saved her from her previous life. I think she was a slave like Fenris. It basically gave her a purpose, made her an equal and rescued her from a crap life.

She's willing to overlook conversion because it was good for her, so it must be good for you and I sensed a bit of mistrust for mages in her interactions with Josmael.

In my mind it's not really a dismissal of the bad, but a focus on the good.

But that's the thing, I could get it if she was a practical soul like Zev. Instead, they paint her as a bleeding heart who can't help helping. That mindset just doesn't work at all in the Qun, they would eat her alive (instead they make her Tallis?).

Granted I don't know everything about the Qun, could be I'm not getting it right, but her character seems strangely misplaced to me.

I thought the events of one were referenced briefly in the other... like the video's events referenced in MotA? Could that be? It's honestly been a while since I've seen/played either. Did she get her qunari status back because of what she accomplished in the video...? Something like that?  According to the wiki, video is first.

Ah, naw, you're right. Silly cute templar, gets it wrong again. Interestingly, Nyree calls Cass a "mighty templar," supporting the notion that the Seekers are chosen from their ranks. Cairn says, "Head of the Seekers?"  Heh, guess he doesn't know his own hierarchy very well.

But wouldn't that be a 100% accurate depiction of video game athletics and topography, where characters who can fly through the air and plant an arrow with pinpoint accuracy are unable to move across differently-colored terrain?

"Let's check that out!"
"Can't."
"Why not? It's right there."

It's poor characterization, even disregarding the Qun. I know I was pretty surprised when she stops Hawke in MOTA from killing that guard. (I should say, try to stop, because I always kill him. Come on.)

That's me trying to explore Sundermount or Kirkwall  How many times did I tilt the screen to try to peak over the edge of rooftops and see what was behind such and such building??

Nyree 'screwing up' lore is defendable, as she could have been misinformed in character, but a templar... Meh... Oh well, I will forgive him a bit because of his hotness B) (apparently Adam Rayner is half British... so no matter what, he is forgiven... As long as he agrees to have a cup of tea with me someday... I am a sucker for British )

Actually, I wondered if the way he is using the phylactery is actually based on 'true lore' or is also wrong. I like the idea of it working as some sort of compass.

From what I understand, a phylactery works a bit like the hot and cold game. It gets brighter, the closer you get to the mage. I think. I could be wrong but that was the impression I got from Asunder

I'm pretty sure Flemeth was one of the first characters to be confirmed in the game. Believe she was mentioned in one of the Sprint Review Days. As for her story and/or part in the game? No idea. My GUESS is that she saves your character toward the beginning of the game (perhaps during the veil rip?) Id like to believe she's more involved during this game because Morrigan is present. So....we shall see.

I did too actually. Still, I think that character is fundamentally problematic. Say what you will about the Qun, I know that there are people who find the basic ideology appealing, but their solutions for both mages and non-qunari can't really be excused.

Tallis is this sympathetic, jovial character who approves of violently subjugating mages and dissidents. It's weird to me.

It's strange. She displays the control collar and said "we know how to chain our animals"; then in the DLC she "steals" Hawke's nose and says "if I was really following the Qun, you really wouldn't have a nose!"

I was just

Yes this is getting ridiculous. There'd better be some bare-chested male mages as well. (That is the nicest way I can phrase my reaction to that picture.)

ugh Looks like DG got a lil mad about ppl and making romances threads

David Gaider wrote...

Right. Enough of this.

The games are designed to be perfectly playable, and the story still completely relevant, even if you don't indulge in the romances.

For those who do, that story now encompasses the romances. They are the same thing.

Romances do not dominate BioWare's outlook no matter how many posts get made, even if they dominate the thoughts of some of the fans. Any post that states a liking for romance does not have to be swatted down lest us feeble developers suddenly become convinced to make the entire game revolve around romance.

And if, in your opinion, it already does-- an optional part of the game you don't have to use-- then you probably shouldn't play, as the amount of content is proportionally no greater than before.

Any more of the accusations, insults, or other such nonsense will earn people bans next time. I suggest people avoid such topics if they really don't like them, rather than get sucked into arguments, or leave the forums.

More mad about people complaining about people making romance threads?
