Oh yeah. I love the romance in the games, but it's not the only thing that needs focus and praise.

If it's the thread I'm thinking of (and it seems it is: Biowares stance on Romance), it included all the bad behavior surrounding romance. Pot shots at who does and doesn't like romance, stereotypes about both from "innocent" bystanders, and everything in between. I'm surprised it wasn't locked on page 1, because it had already gotten ridiculous. It's honestly ridiculous that no one can even mention the word romance without it becoming ridiculous. Kind of like  mentioning Cullen in the main threads. *big sigh*

Anyhoo... let's not let it spill over into our happy place. <3

Something's up with my tablet, it won't scroll down in the standard form making it pretty much impossible to quote anyone because when I do I can't see what I'm writing. Anyway, this is a long winded explanation for why I'm not referencing the posts I'm responding to, my apologies.

That thread was just flat out horrible! It's hard not to feel offended when as a person who enjoys romance in the game (along with a myriad of other features) who is active in what probably would be classified as a 'romance' thread you are assumed to be some sort of sexual deviant who is interested in the romances for the purpose of titillation. Apparently, we are the darkspawn of the forum spewing our corruption on the boards and tainting the reputation of Bioware.

Well, I can't claim to be an expert on 'romance' threads, this is the only one I've ever been a part of and I'm sure that like any other group there are people who take things to a weirder place than others. I can say without hesitation however that this thread right here is my refuge from the predominantly nasty, self aggrandising and vitriolic poseurs that seem to have taken over the forums of late.

I like RPGs, I like companion characters with personalities and their own motivations, I enjoy interacting with those characters. A good story and interesting companions are what I think of when I think of Bioware's products. I support Cullen as a companion because I think his character is one that offers great potential to show more of the Templar perspective in the upcoming game, I found him sympathetic - I liked the character. They also made the model visually appealing, which is definitely to my mind not a point against him for potential companion status.

I like the warm welcome newcomers receive here, I like the genuine enthusiasm that the posters seem to have for all things DA, I like the positive atmosphere. If this is crazy-ville then it is a much more pleasant place to reside than toxic-town above us.

I'm almost positive that the people who have an issue with romance being in the games, that feel the need to openly attack anyone who does like it are the ones with a few mental or self esteem problems. The way they often fly off the handle just because fans find a character attractive seems like jealousy.

I actually had an ex who would get really sh!tty with me just because I romanced Alistair, and that was before he even knew that I find the character attractive, he refused to touch DA games after that. LOL!

Don't worry, Sister Golding, I have with same problem with my iPad.

A lot of romance threads I've seen go down that dark path, some can be fun. There was a qunari LI thread not so long since and that was fun, just light hearted banter. Sure, some trolls piped in every now and then, eventually getting it shut down, but it was nice while it lasted and a welcome change. Personally, I've found threads discussing the Qunari the most hate filled, but that might be because I'm more inclined to side with the Qunari than the rest of Thedas.

Speaking of which, I had another Cullen dream recently, (you're insidious, I tells ya), where we could make him into a follower of the Qun in DAI. It was pretty great....

You guys I guess it just gets to me because it seems such an unnecessary thing to fight so bitterly about. It's 'like what I like loser' at heart and yet the fight just goes on and on. I know, I shouldn't read the threads, it's like ordering chilli and complaining it's hot.

I didn't know that about the IPad, I thought it was just me and I'm way to lazy to get up and turn on the computer when I can surf lying like a slug on the couch!

So I was reading the twitter thread and someone was asking where you would most like to visit in Thedas. I want to see Seheron, something about the description really appeals to my imagination. Where would you go....on this imaginary vacation with Cullen (because I am relevant to the topic!)?

Before DAI, I would have said Val Royeaux, but that seems likely so I don't want to waste my free holiday to anywhere in Thedas on that! So Qunandar, capital of Par Vollen, maybe?

Definitely it would be amazing to see Tevinter particularly if we're going to Orlais with DAI. It sounds like a really good contrast of cultures. I'd like Tevinter too.
