As long as the game lets us travel to other places I have no problem with it being based in Orlais.

And as long as I don't have to be a seeker, I'm fine with it too.

As for companions, its going to be new and returning favorites so it could be anyone. Here are some of my theories on who we could see......

Wynne (Shes in Asunder)

Cullen (He could be a returning favorite)

Varric (Have a feeling we will see him again and he will also be the character that gives closure to Hawke's story)

Cassandra

Leliana

Fenyriel ( I think they will retcon him, and he might be in given his Dreaming ability)

Alistair (A longer cameo possibly since hes still popular)

Morrigan (Same reason as Alistair)

Teagan ( Did you know they had a quest in DA2 where you rescued Connor from the Circle for Teagan and they CUT IT?????) He has a following as well and his voice actor has done other characters.

I agree, I think these are all pretty good bets to at least see in the game somewhere (esp Alistair & Morrigan, given Comic Con appearances). I'd probably bet against Wynne, tho, since my own feeling is that DA3 will take place after DA2, not overlap with the three years between Act 3 and Varric's interrogation. So, I would personally be surprised if it took place during the events of Asunder... but of course who knows!

Feynriel I think they would only include as one of those optional side quests that depends on what you did with him. That seems like a pretty big retcon to have him come back from tranquility... altho I've heard it's been known to happen .

Varric is just such an awesome character that he'd have to have at least a cameo. I wonder if he'd be a full companion again, though, given his prominence in the comics already. That might be a bit of overkill.

So sad about Teagan... I knew Connor was supposed to be in it, but I didn't know Teagan had a bigger role like that! Ah, well maybe next time! <3Would love him as a companion!

I also have a feeling we'll see someone from the extended universe, like Galyan, Rhys, Evangeline, or Fiona. Not necessarily as a companion, but at least as an NPC. I'd actually love to see Fiona at last; finally getting to see her in the pixels!

But, wow, could you imagine having Alistair as a companion again?? I doubt he'd be a LI, but it would just be nice having him around again... *sniff* :crying::wub:

Ok new question (I'm gonna refer to the protagonist as female to make things easier.)

If Cullen is a love interest in DA3 and you play as a Mage protagonist, do you think he'd feel nervous around her, especially due to his PTSD. Also, once he grew to trust her as a person/lover do you think he'd try to discourage her from using magic, through worry that she might get taken from him or harmed by those who are anti-mage?

Discourage her from using magic?? Interesting... I would never have thought of that, but it's sorta plausible. HA, what a way for him to try to get around her little "problem" of being a mage... "Can't you just not be one anymore??" Boy... would I be PISSED. And... the dust would fly...

Oh gawd no I wouldn't want him as a companion again, I'd be too tempted LOL! I'm hoping all my protagonists attention will be solely on Cullen.

I just read in the other thread that DG 'n' co said that the party will consist of old favourites and new companions. I wonder if he means old companions or old favourites in terms of NPC's as well? Because i'd consider the likes of Cullen to be an old favourite despite never having been a companion in the past. I'm hoping they'll only put in 1 past companion in the party, I'd feel like it would kinda ruin the dynamic of getting to know all new companions (I considered Merrill and in DA2 to be new, despite them being in DA:O because they were only NPC'S.)

Hm, I thought the Dragon Age question of the month thing would be up in the Bioware blog by now? Maybe they aren't doing one for July?

I triple dog dare you to make a post about that on one of the other boards or tweet about it.:lol:

R2: Lol I could see him subtlety asking her to not use it so much, by offering to reach her to use a sword or by openly voicing his concerns about her getting taken away from him or something. I think he'd be scared that she'd turn into an abomination, I think it would be kinda sweet for him to actually mention during a tender moment that he's terrified of losing her to demons etc.

Hm, I wonder what his reaction would be if your protagonist decides to use blood magic? I think he should go ballistic and actually leave the group. Like, if he doesn't like you then he'll attack you, but of your his friend or lover then he won't be able to bring himself to attack/kill you or make you tranquil, instead choosing to leave for good.

LOL there's already one up about it that someone else posted. I guess I could tweet one of the devs and ask if nothings posted up by Monday.

Maybe they're taking off July because everyone's off on vacation.

That's a possibility, they'll probably mention it on Twitter or something if that's the case.

I was just looking at the June question, and it was first posted "about 1 month ago" and only closed 24 days ago. So, if it's one every month, then they're technically not quite late yet... altho, yeah, it's nearing the end of July.

I could see this convo happening, but I still think that would be a bump in the road of their relationship. It could actually be quite a nice, if heated, discussion about how she can't just turn it off, magic is just part of who she is, and he has to love her for who she is, not who he wants her to be. Angst angst angst, and that sort of thing. Then he has to delve into whether or not he does accept her the way she is... deciding in the end, yes, of course, since it's OUR game. She reassures him that  he'll always be there to protect her... plus she can protect herself. Then, let the fun makeup sex ensue!

You know, I really hope they finally add consequences for the blood magic thing. I totally agree that that should be a breaking point for him.

I hope we get some more details or concept art soon, things have gone super quiet and the Mass Effect 3 thing has totally calmed down now too. When is the next big event coming up? Maybe they'll give us some more details then?

I'm with you... if they're "old favorites" I'd rather they were NPCs or characters who had a smaller role instead of companions we've already fully explored. I think we've talked about that before... now that I think of it. Like Oghren... I barely met him in DA:O when suddenly it was the end. So, including him in Awakenings was kind of my first chance. But... ugh, having Merrill again, or Fenris (sorry honey!), not as interested. Even Varric, bless his heart, I sorta feel that I've been there done that.

Now, with Nate, we didn't get to romance him and our interactions were more limited than in the main campaings, so I think he'd be a GREAT addition.  In fact, I'd prob be fine with any of the Awakenings companions. *sigh* I'll bet we're also headed for another go at Tallis.

But, otherwise, if I had my druthers, I'd prefer one of the NPCs we want to get to know better. Like Cullen. Cassandra. Teagan. Flemeth (yeah, wishful thinking!). Dagna. Feynriel.

EDIT: altho, I'll take Alistair again however I can get him. ;)

Just a quick jump in here .... just got back from vaca so I'm going to make it snappy.

I think it'd be fun if they brought some former companions back in short spurts a la Nate's little quest. It would have to depend on your personal import for who all it would be. Since I murder knifed Anders, he wouldn't be an option for me. lol

Oh yeah, I bet Tallis will be a sure thing for our Elf and rogue roles to be filled (especially as she couldn't be killed in DA2.) Ok, let's place bets on who we think are pretty much definite party members for DA3.

Here's my prediction for the women:

Tallis: rogue Elf companion, fulfilling the role of the quick witted cute female companion

Cassandra: Seeker warrior, fulfilling the role of ice queen "take no sh!t" bad ass with a secret soft side

As for the men, I'm not so sure. Maybe Gaylan from Dawn of the Seeker, fufilling the charming yet caring Mage role?

Urgh I don't want Anders back again. Although if you didn't kill him, then he should definitely be part of the Mage rebellion in some capacity. After all, he pretty much caused a lot Thedas' current problems by blowing up the Chantry lol.

Games.Con is coming up in Germany in August. I believe Dragon.Con in Atlanta is in August as well.

If they don't announce it then, I still predict the announcement will be on SPIKE TV during the Videogame Awards.

They announced ME3 in 2010 with a Teaser trailer and I think thats what they're going to do with DA:3

I also have a feeling they will bring back some favorites for companions. They need to go all out this time. There is alot riding on DA:3 and since DA2 only sold barely half of what Origins sold. It just makes sense they will do it.

I can also seeing them bringing back favorites for temporary companions.

I think DA:3 is going to be very different from DA:2.  I know they are not going to revert back to Origins style but its definitely not going to be the same as DA2.

Here's another question:

If the Templars are disbanded in DA3 and finally cease to be (without anything else taking their place) or if he was fired from the Templars, what do you think he would do with himself? And what do you think his reaction would be?

I can see him leaving Kirkwall and travelling along the road by himself. Doing a bit of soul-searching and such. Then he meets the DA3 protagonist - either saving him/her or meeting by pure chance.

Thats actually a GREAT idea! :wizard: I can see that. I would also like to see him in non Templar clothes.

And on another note, What if its revealed that the Templars did not need Lyrium to begin with? Wouldn't there be some anger there?

That would be a disaster for the Chantry, I think.

IMHO, Cullen might not rebel at first, but then, I think the Chantry might become desperate to keep control of the Templars (and by that, the mages, too) and do something to make him finally lose all faith in the Chantry itself (but not necessarily lose his Faith in his religion). After that, I suspect he would eventually man-up and lead a new Templar order against the Chantry and oldskoole Templars that refuse to turn away from the Lyrium trap.

How he would manage his addiction? I don't know. Many addicts turn to faith in order to fight their addictions. Maybe, he's already a step ahead in that department. (Seriously, I meant no pun in that, but I can't think of another way to say it right now.)

How this would affect his attitude towards mages? I don't know. Meredith seems to have put some doubts in his mind regarding the popular methods of handling the dangers of magic. He also was friendly to the Mage-origin warden before the Ferelden circle's big oops.

I think it's worthy to note the Origins codex entry for Cullen in The Darkspawn Chronicles DLC. It mentions how some think that Cullen is a little mentally unstable during the Denerim defense. I wonder if that means he was already fighting his addiction. I noticed in the second Dragon Age how he had circles under his eyes like Samson (who was in withdrawl).

The baggy eyes from withdrawal could show that perhaps Cullen was weening himself off of lyrium.  Though it could also be the Chantry's way of making sure they keep their templars in line, perhaps Cullen was being a troublemaker before and the Chantry was limiting his Lyrium so that he realizes whose in charge so he doesn't misbehave anymore.

I thought his Darkspawn codex saying he was unstable was due to his torture in Circle tower, I presumed everything still happened regardless of if the Warden exists or not?

I doubt she'll show up since she sacrifices herself to bring back her son's ladyfriend.  So perhaps we'll see her son instead?
