I have actually asked a friend of me yesterday for the possibilities and costs if I would want a templar costume. He is a smith/leatherworker, and I refuse to go in redemption-templar-dude-latex-armor. Would anyone warn me if there would be some Dragon Age related con-thingy somewhere near the Netherlands? (Germany/UK ok too, my French is sooo bad that I am not sure if France would be a good idea Image IPB) If I would really get plate armor it would be too heavy to take a plane...[/quote]

Gamescom in Koeln, it always in the summer. This year it was end of August and saw plenty of cosplay there, for all sorts of games. I assume next years Gamescom BioWare will be there with DA:I promotion and not like this year, which was kinda lame.

Oh, Koeln is quite doable for me :D Already been there for work last year and I go to Düsseldorf every now and then for work, so yay!

It's beautiful! The female does remind me of Morrigan though .... that sneaky witch thief!

The thread is dead but I wanted to add my two scents in about cosplay. Ive only ever cosplayed (outside of Halloween) once. I went to a comic con in Chicago and it was my first one, and my first cosplay. I went as Harley Quinn. I was excited about it, found a costume I was comfortable with (I have stretch marks from when I was pregnant and not comfortable showing off a lot of skin) but I also wanted my costume to be my own and not the same one every other Harley Quinn would be wearing. The thing about cosplay is that it's not about the accuracy of the costume. Its about showing your enthusiasm for the character/s you love. Be it accurate costume or custom made. I was excited up until it was time to leave the apartment and catch the shuttle that took us to the con. Im overly sensitive about my looks sometimes (I don't think I'm ugly or anything just sensitive) and it took my friends quite some time to convince me to leave the bathroom and go to the con. Here's the thing, I'm not saying everybody at a con will be nice to you and its all rainbows and sunshine...however if anyone said anything about how I looked, not a single one of them said it within hearing distance. It took literally an hour to realize that people LIKED my cosplay. I was sitting in front of a girl on the shuttle who looked much closer to Harley Quinn than I did, but when I opened my mouth to talk to my friend, I sounded like Harley Quinn. I practiced Harley's voice for months so I could get her voice and personality right. The girl behind me (who I was worried would say something about my outfit) was super impressed about how close I sounded to Harley. And when I got to the con, the only thing people said to me was to ask if they could take my picture. Within the hour, I felt much more confident. You'd be surprise how nice a lot of the fans are. My advice? Don't ever be afraid to show your love and enthusiasm for something you love. The internet is full of nasty people, but they are not the whole world. They aren't the majority of the fans.

I also wanted to add the album so you guys can check it out. There are two Male Shepards and a fantastic Aveline in there. Find them! Lol : https://www.facebook...80288324&type=3

I apologize for the long post.

Ah, rats, it didn't take me straight to an album, but to all your albums. But was that was you in the Harley pigtails, red suspenders and black tutu?  Awesome! Thanks for sharing that story. I can only imagine it's super nerve wracking your first time... but I think you've also hit on something that seems to be true of the fans across the board in person vs. online. In person, folks tend to be nicer and embrace their fandom love... it's such a shame that we can't always do the same online. :(

I will check your link later dreamlover, as I am at work now :)

Meeting up with other enthousiasts is a reason why I would like to visit some cosplay event. Walking around in a costume is not a problem for me: I am used to LARP, however, I know I have a high standard for that myself XD.I would NEVER look down on someone who is not spot on, but I notice I have more admiration for those who do (actually same in larp: with my 1,57 meter lenght I would not likely want to play a high elf, an orc, or something similar which totally not suits my looks).

Sorry, I suck at posting links. Lol. Yeah I'm the one in the black tutu. Yeah, internet people suck the fun out of everything. Image IPB But real life fans make it better.

I was just about to post that here! 8D It's a great survey. I put all the emphasis on CC and character interactions and romances lol

Curious what y'all said your set-ups were. For Da:O I selected Zev, Ali, and Wynne. For DA2, Fenris, Aveline, and Izzy.

I like to switch mine up, but keep the LI in the party. But since they only gave us 3 options I just put my LI's and then whoever for the remaining two on each.

Same! Because I'm sad and the radial conbat stuff just doesn't really exist on the console version. I'd probably use it if it did exist though!

The party set up I thought was a bit of a silly question, I'm always a-mixing and a-matching depending on who I think I could get more entertainment or intriguing stuff from that mission.
I put Alistair, Morrigan and probably Wynne, (though I often swap one of the mages, (usually Wynne), out for Shale, Leliana and the occaisional Zevran), for Origins.
And for DA2, I put Merrill, Seb and Fenris, but I use all of them frequently apart from Varric and Bethany, (Bethany because I usually play as a mage). Also for DA2, I will only play as the specific companion during their companion quests. (Unless I suck at them and just die, (looking at you Aveline, why can't I tank?!))

Oh yeah, good point! I always have my LI in the party. Unless Bethany/Carver died in the Deep Roads. Because then they kidnapped by Grace!:D Oh and the LIs lone rescue of the Warden from Fort Drakon! Love that quest!

Actually, to tell you the truth I don't even bother taking Anders out everywhere in DA2 because it's not like you really get any extra interaction, so it's really only Alistair that I drag everywhere with me in DA:O, lol.

Is it for les smoochies and romantic speeches in the Deep Roads? Because that's why I do it. DAO just gave me a bad habit.

These days I take just the LI with me and no one else. Fenris has lots of lines and comments that usually get overshadowed by other companions, so it's pretty cool.

Just filled in the survey as I spotted it on facebook. Great survey indeed! Yup, picked 'extremely important' for the LI and interactive party (or whatever like that) bit. XD
For the party setup, I have picked the members I used the most, which was Alistair/Wynne/Lelianna for DA:O and Varric/Anders/Fenris for DA2.

Dreamlover, that pic of you in the cosplay was super cute! :D

Thanks! And also your party picks are the exact same as mine and for the exact reasons. I take a warrior, a rogue, and a healing mage. I switched it up occasionally but for the most part I picked those.

I think I would have loved a DLC where you could have went to the deep roads with Alistair or even your LI. Think that could have been interesting. Besides, you know you were going there to die. So you wouldn't be able to be mad for your character dying, but I just think that could have had potential.

Btw, Lola, your vid, super cute!

That would have only worked with Alistair though. Why would the other ones go with you, they're not Grey Wardens.

Because they don't want you to die alone, in the dark, scared and frightened. Now that's true love<3

But it probably would have just been Alistair. Which is still fine. Maybe you could have met up with other Wardens doing the same thing.

See, I can see Zevran going with the Warden...if the Warden is female, he'd probably...help her along so she would not become a Broodmother. I dont' see Zev abandoning his warden that easily; he attaches himself at your hip as soon as you recruit him.

As much as I love Morrigan and Leliana, I don't think they'd go. Morrigan has her own destiny, as does Leliana. Not to say Zev isn't important, but I'd think his business with the Crows would be complete by the time the Warden's Calling came along.

I know one of my Hawke's will go into the Deep Roads with Anders. With the others, Anders will leave in the middle of the night.

-snip-

Sorry to drag this discussion out again. I'm just wondering if your Warden would allow for Zevran to come with you? It is a sweet, loving gesture, but why would you allow Zevran/Morrigan/Leliana to throw their life away, they could have a perfectly happy life after you. I guess they could also get depressed and kill themselves later down the road, but shouldn't you give them the chance to get another shot at love?

I just never got the appeal of "sacrifice for love", it seems a bit selfish to take anyone with you other than Alistair and even with him I would struggle if he hadn't shown any signs yet. I always head canon that my Warden just leaves one night and never comes back ... quick and painless, no good byes. Maybe leave a letter for your LI, so they know where you went and they have closure, but that's it.

I'm sorry, I guess I'm just romantically challenged.

Depends on the Warden/Love Interest and the situation. I role play them all differently. Some would allow their love interest to come, others wouldn't. I don't really have a canon PT for Dragon Age. I have a favorite PT, but I don't go

Image IPB

with a PT like I do with ME.

If we're talking real life: no, I wouldn't let them come with me.

Yeah, same. My Warden isn't me, so I don't have to justify his decisions  Would he be selfish and accept Zevran's offer to accompany him, probably lol

This is pretty much what I do. I make sure we're balanced, but it also depends on what I am playing. Like, I'll double up on warriors, maybe on rogues, but not on mages. But, for a given playthrough, it's pretty much always the same folks unless there's a story reason to switch it up (like taking Aveline on her Donnic mission, etc).
(edit:  of course, ALWAYS slotting my LI  in for one of those slots...)

The radial menu question was odd for the PC players... But at least they thought it through enough to make that one optional to answer so I could skip it. LOL

Lol, my Warden is me but she romanced Alistair so they'll probably both be due to go for their calling around the same time anyway.

didnt Alistair say in the game that wardens have 30 years to live or something like that? So im guessing in DAI would be about 10 12 years or so so they would still have some time till their calling

Well yeah, but the Blight's Wardens have even less time because of increased exposure to the taint.

DG said that it doesn't last 30 years and that it's closer to 10. Dunno why he bothered to have Alistair say 30 in the first place really.
