didnt Alistair say in the game that wardens have 30 years to live or something like that? So im guessing in DAI would be about 10 12 years or so so they would still have some time till their calling

DG said that it doesn't last 30 years and that it's closer to 10. Dunno why he bothered to have Alistair say 30 in the first place really.

Oh really? huh that is kinda odd  that he would have Alistair say 30 but maybe DG changed his mind after the game and went with 10? Or was it always intended that way?

Well yeah, but the Blight's Wardens have even less time because of increased exposure to the taint.

oh.. so our warden dies before Alistair... that kinda sux

Well, you could always make Alistair do the Ultimate Sacrifice....

He said Alistair was just guessing and that they wished they hadn't given a specific time limit. He also said at one point that Alistair managed to maintain his Templar powers long after taking lyrium, but in the game Alistair said he wasn't initated which meant he'd never taken the stuff.

So basically DG can't remember half of what he's written, LOL.

Lol, my Warden is me but she romanced Alistair so they'll probably both be due to go for their calling around the same time anyway.

Ahh how convenient when you both gotta die anyway

How many of you will be playing "you" in DA:I? I'm considering it; just because I want to play in a male "body" doesn't mean he can't still be "me" just in an elven male body. My decisions could still be based on myself and not the character I'm creating.

Could make decisions and consequences that much more meaningful! But would I romance Cullen? I don't know!!

I always play as myself the first time around in any BioWare game, just to see what decisions I'd make in any given situation or how badly I'd screw up, I find it makes that first ever playthrough extra impactful and meaningful. I romance whoever I'd be more attracted to out of the LI options given.

The only reason my canon Warden stayed as me is because I really liked Alistair LOL, that and his romance arc pretty much made me realise how bad the relationship I was in at the time with my ex was, so it seemed fitting that  my ultimate Warden in the canon save game to be imported over should be me.

However, my canon Hawke definitely isn't me, LOL.

Personally I've always played as myself, I couldnt  get my self to play as a diffrent person ( probably cause I have a lack of imagination lol)  but yea even when I play as a male character I this play as my self but I guess I only play as a diffrent persona  when I want to see what the outcome of the other choices are  after im done with my 1st PT

I suspect that my canon Inquisitor will end up being me again too, if only because I found this thread and you guys because of it, plus this new game in general has opened up a lot of opportunities for me, so again it would only be fitting.

Plus we aren't limited to just one default race this time around, which means there will probably be different VOs for each, so if I can't stand the sound of one female voice (like I couldn't stand female Hawke's voice) then I'll just switch to a different race, lol.

I got so obsessed with different Wardens I kinda forgot to play as myself. XD I play as myself in ME all the time. But like I said before, I don't have a canon PT for DA, which is usually my self-insert. I will have a self-insert for Inquisition, though...the noob shoved into a position of power? Imagine the awkwardness.

I am having trouble choosing between a dwarf and mage, though.

So I was reading a bit of the Anders in DAI thread and there was something there that was kinda "crazy" but at the same time in a weird way kinda got me thinkingin if it was true...

Do you guys think that Elthina was somewhat responsible for the mage templar war?

My canon Warden is similar to me, but I probably would have sided with Bhelen and kept the Anvil, while also siding with the Lady. Or at least let her present her case to Zathrian. I also wouldn't trust Anora as far as I could fling her, (with my outside knowledge I think she is awesome though, but she just reminds me a bit of someone else who shouldn't have power).
On the other hand, my canon Hawke is not like me, what with her anti-Qunari Chantry schism supportin' and what not. I like the Qunari, they're swanky. But such is the cost of having an interesting world to Inquisit.

For my first ever playthrough I'm gonna just fiddle around with all four races and see which one I can get the closest likeness to myself on (so probably not the Qunari, LOL). After that with my second and subsequent playthroughs I'll go through all the races and genders to see how badass I can make each of them look. Then my final canon playthrough will probably be me as the Inquisitor again, unless I take a particular liking to one of the characters physical appearances/personalities that I played as in a previous playthrough.

No, but I think her death was. She represented peace and compromise to me, a choice that Anders threw out the pram like a spoiled child. Bah! DA2 Anders really gets on my ******!

Agreed. I reckon the Divine definitely played a big part in it. Man, wouldn't it be crazy if it turned out that she was one of the "big bads" agents!

You mean you're not seven feet tall with grey skin and horns??

Dwarf women always look the most like me; they've got the large boobanis and the round faces. But I'm also kind of tall, so perhaps a qunari girl would actually look more like me!

I think she helped it along without doing anything. But even if she did something - like she should have - the events in Asunder still would have occured and hence the mage-templar war would begin.

I just hope she doesn't die in the first few minutes like that ancient leak would suggest. I want sit and talk to her over tea and crumpets. Or whatever the holy version of that is. Not sure about having to address her as "your Perfection", mind. Seriously, even after I rise to power I wouldn't want my subjects calling me that!

Well, he said that it can be up to 30 years after the Joining, but it varies between 10 and 30, depending on the individual and whether they're in a Blight or not. Apparently Alistair's dialogue wasn't exactly what they'd intended, but now it is what it is.  He talks about it in the Thedas UK interview.

Yeah, this is hard to say. Once upon a time would have said that she played a big role in what happened in Kirkwall, but after reading Asunder, I'm not convinced that Kirkwall had all that much to do with the mage-templar war starting. I mean, it primed the ground, but if it wasn't Anders it would have been something else leading to what happened at the White Spire.

I'll probably end up as a human again. I mean, I'm roughly an Elf's height but I'm not skinny enough to look like one from a body shape POV, I'm too tall to be a Dwarf and their face shapes usually aren't the same as mine, I certainly don't look like a Qunari, so that really only leaves the human.

I guess that the lifespan of the wardens also depends on the age of the person? I have the idea that on average, people reach an age of about 60-70, but wardens get at about 50-60 instead? I got that idea from how Duncan and Riordan reacted in DA:O (stating something like they were getting close to their calling anyway?).

And don't blame Anders, blame Justice  I don't know, I really like Anders character... Heck, I'd avoid him like the plague irl, but as a character in the game I think he is amazing. Angsty, schizofrenic, romanticly idealistic guy with low self esteem? I don't know... it appears like there is so much below the surface within that character. Things partially already present during awakening (somehow I feel that his goofy appearance is just a mask, to appear though whilst actually he is not... I mean, the guy doesn't even have a real name? How to burn self-esteem to the ground: Hey, 'Dutchman!'... I guess he has always had some desire to actually BE someone, mean something for someone, have a life...), and gets fuelled and twisted during DA:2 due to Justices interference.
I really wouldn't mind to get to know more about him, but I hope it will somehow be possible for him to not fully turn into Justice's puppet.
