Hey umm was Nathaniel in DA2? if so where the hell was he?

He was in DA2. If I remember correctly... In Act 3. You find his sister Delilah near the Chanter's board and she gives you a quest to find him. Mind that you have to have a save import with Awakening where Nathaniel survived.

There's a glitch w/ the console versions where if he wasn't w/ you in the final battle w/ the Mother, then he is imported as dead and you get the quest w/ the missing dwarves instead. Sucked since I always wanted to bring Anders, Justice, and Oghren w/ me but oh well

I always use that one DA savegame creator... What's it called... Umm....  I can't remember the name. But that way I can generate whatever save I want and I don't have any issues with glitches.

Edit: Oh yeah, Gibbed's Dragon Age Save Generator!

I imported the save I made just before the Mother into Golems of Amgarrak, and then the save I made just before the Harvester into Witch Hunt.

I never had any glitches with Nathaniel showing up in DA:2? Is it only a problem for consoles maybe?

It seems to be, because the one time I didn't take him with me to the Broodmother - lovely lady, btw...

Image IPB

he didn't show up in my game. :( Hopefully the Keep will fix that.

I always took Nathaniel, Anders and Oghren with me because they were my favourites and had the best banter, lol. Looks like it paid off!

Not really fond of Oghren myself... I think he was about the least used companion for both DA:O and Awakenings for me

He said it in a bunch of interviews and in the forum. I'm not at a computer currently, so I can't grab the links (iPhone sucks for that). If R2's still around she'll probably have the links handy.

Im going to get up the guts and ask him.   I'll let you know when I get an answer.

I already posted the link just one page back. He said it varies between 10 to 30 years after the joining and depends on the individual, exposure to a Blight, etc. It's in the Thedas UK interview.

TUK: On that note, you've said that it takes about thirty years more or less between the Joining and the Calling, ish, [DG grimaces audibly and visibly]...sorry! What can accelerate or decelerate that process if anything, or is it something you created that you now regret?

DG: It's something I put in Alistair's dialogue that I now regret! Afterwards I was like, "Wow, thirty years is a long time for that time frame." I didn't really intend when I was writing it, and only afterwards when I went back I said "Oh...I guess it does sort of implies thirty years after you take the Calling, doesn't it..." Sorry, after you take the Joining. That wasn't really my intention. But it's out there now so I'm like, okay, thirty years. But the idea is also that it varies. Thirty years is the maximum that you could probably expect. It's going to vary for an individual according to their willpower and the level of their interaction with the darkspawn. During a Blight you can expect that the Grey Wardens are going to have shorter lifespans. Outside of a Blight the Grey Wardens would tend to live longer. We have instances in the game of people going on their Calling after five or ten years. Alistair's thirty year quote shouldn't be taken as gospel, that's the way I like it.

TUK: I'm really glad you said that because I took it that you wouldn't live past thirty, and it was only the fact that everybody else seemed to think it was the opposite that pulled me with them.

DG: Well, if Duncan was thirty years old, he would look pretty good for thirty. Yeah, so it's supposed to be a maximum thirty years after you take the [Joining] but it can vary, so I'd say the rule of thumb right now is between ten and thirty years, is the most common.

For Awakening I brought Velanna, Nathaniel and either the good ol' Anders or Sigrun with me. Love Velanna and I love the little budding romance they put in between her and Nathaniel!

*sigh* I hope we get race specific VAs for the Inquisitor. And the elf voice is as cool as Grey DeLisle's.

It's not just a glitch with the console versions. My understanding was that the flags on whether or not he's alive are glitchy, I think depending on whether you chose Vigil's Keep or Amaranthine to save. So, for example, if you picked Amaranthine but left Nate in Vigil's Keep it flags him as dead even if you fully fortified the Keep and they all survived. That's what happened to me on the PC version. So I never saw him in DA2 either, except for the time I chose one of the preset imports.

Hinted at. It's less clear than the adorable Bethany/Sebastian, but still...

───────
Nathaniel: Still with the deadly looks, my lady?
Velanna: "My lady" is such a human thing to call someone.
Nathaniel: It is a term of respect. You think it's human to be respectful?
Velanna: Now you're mocking me.
Nathaniel: I think you're a lovely woman, and due some respect. So I call you a lady.
Velanna: Well... stop it!
───────
Velanna: So you not only gave up on killing the Grey Warden who murdered your father, you actually joined the order.
Nathaniel: Are you trying to pick a fight, Velanna? Baiting me like this is juvenile.
Velanna: I just wanted to know how you felt.
Nathaniel: How do you feel knowing you murdered all those people because you were too arrogant to check your facts?
Velanna: Warm and fuzzy.
Nathaniel: You're a terrible person. And your ears are clownish.
Velanna: What? Who's juvenile now?
───────
Velanna: I may have misjudged you a little.
Nathaniel: Just a little?
Velanna: I sometimes paint all humans with the same brush.
Nathaniel: As long as it's such a pretty brush, I don't mind.
Velanna: I'm sure I don't know what that means.
Nathaniel: It means your apology is appreciated, my lady.
Velanna: Well, then. Good.
───────
Velanna: When you were talking about the pretty brush, did you mean... me?
Nathaniel: (Chuckles) It can't be the first time someone's said you're pretty.
Velanna: And if it is?
Nathaniel: Then you must not talk to many people.
Velanna: Most people aren't worth talking to.

D'awwww. It's weird, I totally couldn't warm to Velanna at all. I dunno why.

Still, if our Inquisitor or future protagonists can't romance him then I guess we can just head canon that they got together instead, lol.

I couldn't either. I always tend to pick her up last, tho, so I also feel like I never really got to know her. Similar with Oghren.

If the Warden had been able to banter with Velanna the way Nathaniel could, I would have liked her a lot more than I did. If ever there was a character that needed more levity, it was her.

I actually sent him a message and he replied saying basically the same thing & that its based on willpower so Alistair and the Warden don't neccessary have to die in 10 years.

It's made by the same people that done The Walking Dead game, it also comes out in chapters monthly. Today's was the first chapter. It's about fairy tale characters who have to live in the real world now (it's based on a comic series). We get to play as the big bad wolf (who is a total babe!) He's basically the Sheriff, it seems that he's trying to be good after all the ****ty stuff he used to do back in the fairy tale land when he was younger lol.
