I'm guessing unlikely. Cassandra fills the spot for the whole Seeker/Templar pov. Plus, from the companions we've heard about (and seen "accidentally" popping up in the GI videos) in my opinion it seems likely that he won't be.

But Seekers aren't Templars, right? Templar abilities require lyrium and only Templars receive lyrium. Seekers are just there to regulate and oust any Chantry corruption. So Cassandra shouldn't necessarily have the Templar skills.

A lot of Seekers start out as Templars and then get promoted into the Seekers. They're basically higher ranking than Templars, but they still need lyrium and stuff, I would imagine. There are too many similarities between the two, so I doubt we'd get both a Seeker and a Templar, especially considering Cassandra is the favourite.

There were other technical reasons for iconic appearances in DA2; inter-changeable armour suits gave us generic-looking hornless qunari and mighty morphin' suits of armour that could fit either Oghren or Sten. And BW hiring Jessica and Holly ain't so different than Irrational Games hiring that Russian cosplayer, Anna Moleva, and using her likeness in the box art and TV ads.

Definitely true about the cosplays, and it's definitely not their fault, and I shouldn't have had such a judgmental tone. 

I've heard about these technical reasons for not having changeable armor for DA2 companions, but I'm pretty sure it truly comes down to retaining characters' "iconic looks" and encouraging cosplayers to reflect this, get excited about this, and hence help advertise the game and the company for them. All it really did though was limit my enjoyment of the game (despite the fact that I enjoyed DA2 more than Origins.) The game really took off for me after I figured out how to mod my saves; then I could the companions in whatever outfit I chose. Amazingly enough, I was still able to recognize Fenris even after I put him in Athenril's super cool armor... imagine that... lol 

Never heard of Irrational Games or Anna Moleva. I still find pictures of professional cosplayers embarrassing (like Holly and Jessica)... just not my thing. It looks silly to me. I'm a hypocrite though; I have dressed up with my friends for the local Renaissance Faire  But then again that was also during my 20s. I know for a fact I wouldn't do that now. I am become an old woman...

I actually think having a Seeker companion wouldn't really cause Cullen to get the boot; I think the lore (I feel like a total nerd for talking about lore...) is firm about Seekers and Templars being different, and what with everything that happened in Asunder, and Cass basically being a rogue Seeker (and we wouldn't know what Cullen's affiliation would/will be) that having two could still be considered very interesting!!

For me it's the warrior thing... four warriors? No way. I just can't see that happening!

Yeah, the warrior thing is also a problem. I'm pretty sure Iron Bull will be a companion from the way he's been popping up everywhere.

Well I honestly don't think it will be an even 3-3-3 split. I think if we want to play as a fiercely anti-mage character, suddenly whittling us down to just 6 companions to choose from might be a bit harsh. And if you ask me, I don't really see the point in having more than two mages, you only really need a healer and a damage dealer. And with no health regeneration, but mana regeneration still going, having a 3 mage party could make things a little too easy, never mind a 4 mage party.

I think Cullen will be a companion. Iron Bull, I'm not so sure. Why? Well, because... In DAO, there was a lot of Leliana shown in the marketing. Yet my first playthrough, I completely missed her. I actually got lost in Lothering, and couldn't find the tavern where she was (not to mention I felt like I had this need to hurry up and get through there because I felt like the game was pushing me.) So even though she was a big character, she was never in my first game. I also ended up leaving Sten behind because I couldn't get the priestess at the chantry to let me take him.

Same thing with Isabela. Look at how much she was in the marketing for DA2. Yet, if you don't talk to her in the Hanged Man, you completely miss her. You can miss Fenris, if you don't read your mail and pick up his quest from the dwarf...

So even though Iron Bull is being shown a lot, I think he's one of those characters that you can just miss in the game.

And I think right now, Cullen is being planned as a surprise. They're not going to reveal him until later in the next year. No idea why, it's just a feeling that I have.

Yeah, the class of my companion has never bothered me. So long as I can get at least one healer (or be a healer myself) then I'm not too bothered about what the rest are. So long as they're interesting and feel like real people then I'm golden.

thats only because she was a blood mage and i think they were thinking that she might eventually become an abomination, idk about Anders but I think Fenres had every reason to be harsh on her since he was held as a slave by a nasty mage and all  so I could understand his part

Not just Merrill, Anders is pretty horrible to everyone apart from Varric and Isabela if you ask me, (even then he's pretty disrespectful to Isabela in one dialogue to Merrill). Especially Bethany about being in the Circle/Wardens. It's not even like she has a choice in the matter! At least I can sort of see where Fenris is coming from half the time. And the general non-I-hate-mages banters are incredibly cute.

If he is then I'd hope that perhaps life outside of the Circle/Chantry will open his eyes and make him reassess a few narrow minded opinions.

To be fair, the Qunari ARE heathens. Aggressive ones at that! And the Dalish aren't followers of the Maker either. There's a lot of propaganda against both so I wouldn't be too hard on him if he is a bit xenophobic.

Sebastian was always accused of being a Chantry zealot, but he was really open minded about things in banters with Merrill. And we can already reasonably suppose that Cullen's questioning his faith a bit more than a good templar should. So I'm not really worried about Cullen being as narrow minded as Anders was.

BW is in love with cosplayers. Frankly I find it a little embarrassing. They have "professional" cosplays in Holly Conrad and Jessica Merizan, which I (if I'm being 100% honest) find utterly ridiculous. And then in DA2 we lost the ability to change companion armor so that cosplayers could do their thing with more ease and accuracy. Even in DA:I we're still not going to be able to put them in whatever outfit we want. They will still have an "iconic shape." That annoys me.

I'm sure the iconic companion armour was not done for the sake of cosplay. The comment about cosplay was to show how effective the designs had been in showing personality and a unique expression for each character, and which was obvious when it was translated into cosplay.

Also, I'm sure Merizan wasn't hired solely because she cosplays. Having met her, I find her really cool and very talented at her job. I felt very much at home around her constant cheer. And being nice to people is pretty much her job, hence I say she's good at it =)

I think that depends. I mean, if he's of importance (like Morrigan) then we could end up having a fair amount of interaction with him.

Yea speaking of witch,  I think this time around Morrigan and Leliana will be the Npc stars of this game, considering they are the "golden girls"  Im sure they will get much more content then him....<_<

My guess on the word counts would be that Morrigan will be similar to the arishok, and an NPC Cullen could maybe be around his DA2 word count again? That's a fair bit, but far from a ton.

I'm still hoping he'll be a companion. 3-3-3 sounds nice and all, but I can't see there being three mages (allowing for an all-mage party including the inquisitor). Thus the 9 suddenly become 4-3-2, the 4 referring to either rogues and warriors. And I'm hoping it's going to be Cassandra, the Grey Warden, Iron Bull and our very own Cullen~

Of course, I'm a lover of all things good - Qunari and ponies alike!  The ponies in Friendship is Magic live in a society not too unlike the Qun, really.

So glad I'm not the only one who taught my villagers Qunlat, too ^^

I will have to respectfully disagree. I thought Fenris was far more vicious to Merrill and the dialogue in MOTA was GRADE A Overkill.   Anders was the way he was to Merrill because he was a mage.

I agree so much. The Merrill/Fenris dialogue made me wince. And it was the worst in MOTA. There was nothing funny about that one bit when they were looking for Hawke.
