Not just Merrill, Anders is pretty horrible to everyone apart from Varric and Isabela if you ask me, (even then he's pretty disrespectful to Isabela in one dialogue to Merrill). Especially Bethany about being in the Circle/Wardens. It's not even like she has a choice in the matter! At least I can sort of see where Fenris is coming from half the time. And the general non-I-hate-mages banters are incredibly cute.

I will have to respectfully disagree. I thought Fenris was far more vicious to Merrill and the dialogue in MOTA was GRADE A Overkill.   Anders was the way he was to Merrill because he was a mage.

Really? I think he was pretty mean with the Arlathvhen dialogue, but the other two dialogues they could have in MOTA were really not that bad. He was harsh to her in the search scene, but Merrill made it funny.

There's another piece of dialogue when Anders and Hawke find Sandal after he done his "not enchantment" to the ogre in the deep roads and Anders was like "talk about "dumb" luck", I always wanted to punch him for that one too.

Fenris IS much more vicious to Merrill. Not to say Anders isn't pretty bad, but some of the things Fenris says makes me want to punch him. Anders is tough on Merrill because he knows what could happen if she's not careful when dealing with spirits/demons. I went back and compared the two dialogues - Anders tries to teach Merrill. Fenris calls her a monster and constantly puts her down.

Hmmm I never noticed any emphasis on "dumb". Maybe it's just me.

And it kinda is dumb luck - at least to them. Hawke and company doesn't know what Sandal is capable of at that point, while our Wardens do and they're not there to tell them otherwise. One little dwarf up against several Darkspawn? And an Ogre? It was dumb luck that our Hawkes survived the Ogre attack in Lothering. At least to me. Everyone very well could have died if Hawke didn't have that certain strength to hold themselves against it. That's why Flemeth was impressed we were able to kill the thing...and we had two others to help us. Sandal didn't have anyone. :)

Naw, it was definitely a jibe at Sandal's intelligence, especially since he says it right after Sandal mentions that it's a "not enchantment". No getting around that one, Anders was just being a jerk.

That's not me hating on Anders either, since my Hawke romanced him. It was just a dickish thing for him to say.

Quite fond of Anders character myself (mostly because I find him very interesting), but I agree that he can be very harsh towards the others. I blame being depressed, dislike of blood mages and templars (has been there since Awakenings) which all gets further enhanced by the influence of Justice (who seems to hate everyone).

I can actually see both Cullen and Cassandra be companions. They are both a different side of the medal, even though they both have a chantry-related background. Exactly that is what would make them very interesting to give more information and insight into the Inquisition and ongoing happenings.

Regarding the cosplay: I can see why BW likes cosplay: I assume it is more or less a great compliment if people like your characters so much they put in effort to try to dress up like them. However, it can also backfire, so they should not be held in higher regard than other fans. I think they won't do that, but than again: I have never been at any con nor have any experience with it myself: it's just a gut feeling. (Individual BW members (at fairs) not counting, but the general opinion)
I would not mind dressing up. I am quite used to that  But my costumes are not at any professional standard, as it would be too expensive for me to do that for characters which end up dying anyway. (For example, my skaven (ratman) )

Yeah I hate that line, too. It's super dickish.

I worship at the altar of Fenris :P but even I can agree that calling her a monster after her friend died was out of line lol

The "puppy eyes" dialogue makes up for it though :innocent:

From the BioWareSE Facebook page:

Gamex, Sveriges största spelmässa, äger rum om några veckor! Ni som besöker den kommer att kunna ta del av något exklusivt och unikt från Bioware, som aldrig tidigare visats i Europa...

Translation by yours truly,

Gamex, Sweden's largest gaming expo, will be taking place in just a few weeks! Those of you who will be in attendance will be able to take part of something exclusive and unique from BioWare, that has never been shown in Europe before...

At first I figured they meant the so-called PAX demo. But then I realised it's been shown in London, no? Our very own Lola was there after all. But perhaps because it was behind such closed doors, it doesn't count?

I wouldn't mind something exclusive, but that "in Europe" part makes me wary to expect anything truly new. Of course, it wouldn't hurt. Paragon Lost had its world premiere at Gamex in Sweden and so did the ME3 multiplayer (Lion Martinez gave me one of their promo posters for the event, too <3), so it's not unheard of to get early access to cool stuff even here up north.

Oooo, intriguing. Hm, well the one I went to was press only, so it could well be the PAX demo? I hope it is something new, hopefully the rest of us will get to see it eventually, or at least we'll be told about it by the people who go to Gamex?

A lot of Seekers start out as Templars and then get promoted into the Seekers. They're basically higher ranking than Templars, but they still need lyrium and stuff, I would imagine. There are too many similarities between the two, so I doubt we'd get both a Seeker and a Templar, especially considering Cassandra is the favourite.

I actually think having a Seeker companion wouldn't really cause Cullen to get the boot; I think the lore (I feel like a total nerd for talking about lore...) is firm about Seekers and Templars being different, and what with everything that happened in Asunder, and Cass basically being a rogue Seeker (and we wouldn't know what Cullen's affiliation would/will be) that having two could still be considered very interesting!!

there are some differences between Cullen and Cassandra and their personal situations, certainly, and where they stand with respect to the the Chantry post breaking of the Nevarran Accord. But, Lola's right about the lore... According to Mike Laidlaw most Seekers are recruited from the ranks of elite templars, although how their training and abilities vary after that is anyone's guess.

Oh yes, I know that ^_^ I think that's the part everyone knows. But I believe Cassandra was never a templar. Plus I'm just saying that both organizations have become fractured. And when you consider that Cassandra is a rebel Seeker, and Cullen could be any number of things (rebel templar, former templar, loyal templar), I just think they represent two very different viewpoints. So imo it wouldn't be a reason for the devs to leave him out.

I second this opinion Moto :wizard: Besides, I somehow doubt that Ironbull will be a companion. I think he will be an agent instead, as he is a mercenary and is leading a group (if I recall correct from what I have read about him).

Also, I wouldn't put a lyrium addict in a top position within the Seekers. (No offence to Cullen of course) Then again, I wouldn't have put a Nevarran princess in the Templars in the first place!

I think we should all hope and pray that Iron Bull is not a companion! (Much as it breaks my heart.) It does seem odd that an unrevealed companion would be used in marketing so much. But... I still feel he has a very high chance of being a companion. Which imo would definitely knock Cullen's chances down to zero.

Even if he's out, Cassandra is said to have a "shield bash" ability that will break down barriers/gates, and the Grey Warden was shown to be carrying a S&S also. I know they said we could change out their weapons this time (make S&S warriors two-handed, for example) but this evidently is their "iconic" look. Cullen is also a S&S warrior, so... again, to me, this decreases his chances. (Iron Bull methinks is the 2H warrior.)

I guess we could always end up with 4 warriors, 3 rogues, and 2 mages. I agree that we probably will not have 3 mages. Which means we will have at least 4 of one of the other two classes.

Ughghgh I go back and forth on this lol Who are our three rogues? Sera, Varric, and...? Cole?

With Dorian and Vivienne as mages.

What obvious potential companions am I leaving out?

I'm so anxious and doubtful of Cullen being a companion and LI now that I've stopped shipping my inquisitor with him :crying: I'm too afraid I'll be disappointed, and then I won't feel like I can pair him with anyone else. But this is so upsetting because I've been envisioning my elven character with Cullen for soooo long. I'll have to change my expected character completely if he has to romance someone else. Grrrrr lol
