No there was nothing, not even the jealous dialogue you get when you hook up with Fenris. I went the friendship path and he did not hit on my Hawke. To clarify, I did not flirt with him either, because of the Sebastian romance. I was surprised to see that there was nothing coming from his side, because of the complaints. I might have missed it, but I don't think I did.

It would be a personal vow then, because Templars don't have to take the chastity vow. If that's better or worse is open for debate, lol.
From the wiki dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Templar_Order
"Templars go through a rigorous process of recruitment and training, sometimes in monastic refuges segregated from everyday society. While the majority of their members are male, some female templars do exist, having chosen to serve the Maker as a defender of the faith rather than a spiritual guide for the community. Templars take vows upon knighthood, but these do not include a vow of chastity. Templars are nevertheless discouraged from marrying or raising children since it is impractical to live apart from ones' dependents. Such unions are occasionally permitted, provided that the templar's spouse has his or her own means of support, for example, owning land or a title.[4] A templar marrying another templar or a mage within the same Circle would be considered fraternization within the ranks and would seldom receive permission."

Perhaps they already have an idea with what they want, and are just throwing out conversation lines now? Which should be not too much to do in one day (for a couple of quests I mean).

Anything that's done by the writing team is considered story so they must keep it secret, keep it safe and other such references I'm too sleep deprived to make. They'll talk more and more about it as time goes on, but they'll always try and push the 'awesome' and 'epic' combat in interviews as much as they can to get as many people interested as possibles.
Like combat is why people buy a Bioware game. <_<

Use all diplomatic responses with him initially, sympathize with his plight with Justice, select the blue/angel wings response... and he will hint that he finds Hawke attractive, something about "You're a softy under those rugged good looks, after all (slightly different for FemHawke ofc). Then Hawke has to respond with either one of two hearts OR a (rude) broken heart response.
If you use sarcastic responses or don't select the sympathic/blue response, he won't flirt.

I am a little concerned yeah, which is why I brought up that rant way back when about them catering to the extreme fanboys with this latest installment, but that could just be the marketing team. Of course marketing is going to focus on combat and graphics because "that's what fanboys like!" (understand that "fanboy" does not necessarily represent an actual person but is more of an ideal consummer) ... but being the DG fangirl that I am, I do have faith in the Writer's Pit that we will have a pretty good story and even better BW-style characters.
The story to me is looking a little flat, especially since they keep talking about Origins, which was at its heart a traditional sword and sorcery high fantasy "boy/girl goes on an adventure and saves the world" story. I hope they aren't repeating that. I'm hoping for something more original. But BW's characters always save a so-so story.

I do not care much about combat... I prefer to go story mode as much as possible and just watch the show if there is combat. Sure, I like watching a good show, but that would mean 'realistic', not 'epic, shiny but impossable moves'. Not too thrilled about the grapling hook, gate bashing and stone slicing from the demo, for that matter.
Same; I swear, that enemy mage rapidly flipping the pages of his floating book was about the dumbest thing I've ever seen lol

Okay that might have been it. I probably chose the sarcastic one then. I mainly play sarcastic Hawke, so that might explain why I've never heard that line that you wrote here, not even something close to that for FemHawke.

Girl and dwarf go on an adventure and save the world, player character gets dragged along for the "Cassandra & Varric show".
(And I'm only half kidding.)

Yeah lol Well honestly what annoys me is that my Hawke can't be nice to him without Anders hitting on him, and THEN Hawke cannot respond in a polite fashion. I HATE the broken heart response; it's so rude and almost homophobic. Ugh.

This is so sad lol But true. Yeah. Sigh.
BUT ... we as yet know so little. But yeah it does feel like my own character will be taking a backseat to other people's favorite characters from previous games.

Ah, grr... trying not to tap back into my fangirl rage over the Seb rivalmance, which is actually sorta my canon PT. I watched hawishly for any even vague reference to the rivalmance in any of the DLC. NOTHING! NADA! ZIP! Only thing that came close was a comment in MOTA where Seb talks about the Qun and Hawke can ask "Are you leaving me to join the Qun?" and he says, "Never." According to the wiki it's for female Hawke only, but I believe it happens regardless of your 'romance' status. Bethany can comment (the 'lucky b!tch' comment about Hawke), but I think that's also just friendmance (She was dead in my rivalmance PT, so I don't have first hand knowledge).LolaLei wrote...

From memory there's absolutely nothing from him at all. It was a total fizzer from start to finish.
Damn, well that's a sh!tter! I hope they don't mug off the DLC companion(s) in DAI like that!
And hi!
So... I'd even venture to say that that's a heckuva lot worse than the friendmance. At least the characters are aware of the friendmance even if they don't say much about it. Rivalmance... it's like it didn't even happen.

It does look a bit like standard 'save the world' fare. The one aspect that seems kinda different is the organizational building with the Inquisition, deploying your agents and building up your bases. That part almost seems a little too strategic, adding in some Age of Empires/whatever to the mix.motomotogirl wrote...

I think that because it's a new aspect to the franchise, that they're putting a lot of emphasis on it over story. I think most of the writing gets done before they even start piecing together the physical apsects of the game, so I wouldn't worry about them "shooting through" writing that much. From what I remember about the DA2 dev process, they were mentioning things about DA3's progress before the sequel even came out. The story for Inquisition has been in works since Origns, so they've had plenty of time to map out where the plot is going to go. Seems like they're just finalizing everything now, as far as the writing goes.
For DA2 they were talking about the new combat system a lot (dare I mention the "awesome button"?) and never really talked about the story much. It's hard to discuss it w/out giving too much away I think.

If you rivalmance Sebastian and have Bethany alive (and a Grey Warden) in Legacy, she comments on it. Not sure if this same dialogue happens if she's in the Circle. It only triggers if you're in a rivalmance with him so it's definitely romance-linked, but the only real romance-related bit in the dialogue is when an aggressive!Hawke interrupts with a "Back off".
It really is a waste of such good looking pixels...
