Ah, grr... trying not to tap back into my fangirl rage over the Seb rivalmance, which is actually  sorta my canon PT. I watched hawishly for any even vague reference to the rivalmance in any of the DLC. NOTHING! NADA! ZIP!  Only thing that came close was a comment in MOTA where Seb talks about the Qun and Hawke can ask "Are you leaving me to join the Qun?" and he says, "Never." According to the wiki it's for female Hawke only, but I believe it happens regardless of your 'romance' status. Bethany can comment (the 'lucky b!tch' comment about Hawke), but I think that's also just friendmance (She was dead in my rivalmance PT, so I don't have first hand knowledge).

So... I'd even venture to say that that's a heckuva lot worse than the friendmance. At least the characters are aware of the friendmance even if they don't say much about it. Rivalmance... it's like it didn't even happen.

If you rivalmance Sebastian and have Bethany alive (and a Grey Warden) in Legacy, she comments on it.  Not sure if this same dialogue happens if she's in the Circle.  It only triggers if you're in a rivalmance with him so it's definitely romance-linked, but the only real romance-related bit in the dialogue is when an aggressive!Hawke interrupts with a "Back off".

It really is a waste of such good looking pixels...

Ah, right. Yeah, never got that one, although I've seen it on youtube. Not sure if it registered that it was rivalmance... but then again, I promptly burned it from my memory since Bethany gets to flirt with Seb more than Hawke does... lalalalalala not remembering lalalalalala grrr... hate bethany... lalalalalalala<_<

So, to recast: mage!Hawke gets nada for her Seb rivalmance. :crying:

edit: Since this needed an illustration, another littlenikki special, complete with a we're-not-really-bethany-haters disclaimer.

Argh, I REALLY want to know more about Vivienne! Even if it's just, 'she is you healer' or 'she's a cat person'.

I know! She seems very interesting. I'm dying to know if that's her real voice or not... and where she's from. And if she has a whole closet full of those awesome Orlesian mage  hats... :bandit:

Don't forget the REAL reason she wears them. Placing my bet for third arm right now!

LOL Time will tell. Cracking up that my google search for "dragon age vivienne" came up with this beauty from the  BSN vivienne thread... Coincidence...? ;)

Is anyone else concerned that the story/stories in DAI won't be as detailed due to all this extra emphasis put on exploration? I'm a little concerned at how fast they seem to be shooting through the writing side of things recently.

... Then again, I've never been around for the development phases before so this could be how they've alway worked, lol.

I think that because it's a new aspect to the franchise, that they're putting a lot of emphasis on it over story. I think most of the writing gets done before they even start piecing together the physical apsects of the game, so I wouldn't worry about them "shooting through" writing that much. From what I remember about the DA2 dev process, they were mentioning things about DA3's progress before the sequel even came out. The story for Inquisition has been in works since Origns, so they've had plenty of time to map out where the plot is going to go. Seems like they're just finalizing everything now, as far as the writing goes.

For DA2 they were talking about the new combat system a lot (dare I mention the "awesome button"?) and never really talked about the story much. It's hard to discuss it w/out giving too much away I think.

Those are good points, nikki. This together with the fact that they have a deliberate embargo on discussing story yet limits the details we can see about the overall story outside of 'save the world.'

Heh. So... this is reminding me a bit of the "rise to power" tagline for DA2, which could be argued to be a bit misleading depending on how much actual power you could think Hawke had at the end of the game. That being the case, what do you think the chances are that the "Fix the Fade rift. Save the world." idea is also a bit of a red herring?

It's probably what gets us started on the Inquisition path, then events that occur alongside that plotline open up an entirely different path that our PC ends up taking/pursuing. Like maybe who we think is responsible is really just a puppet to someone even greater, who is using the Fade Tear as a distraction to thier master plan *cough*Flemeth*cough*

I am quite curious about that whole keeps/agents/etc thing. I actually hope it is optional stuff for giving you another way to play the game, as I am not sure whether I want to play a tactical siege-sim.

'Rise to power' is almost sarcastic, as Hawke could go from hero to zero in no time XD I actually like it that DA:2 had a 'failing' hero, dealing with more 'regular' roleplay stuff than just the big bad evil and save the day! It was more of a tabletop story for that matter. Ah well, I'm afraid DA:I will go back to the 'save the world' story... and I vote for Varric&Cassy with Inquisitor as shiny mascotte!

I like the one with him and Meredith! But I just love Meredith fan art, especially the stuff with Orsino. Shame Kirkwall had to be ripped apart because of their sexual tension. You could cut it with a red lyrium knife!

Oh my, now that is one lovely picture. I actually think that might be my new all time favorite Cullen fanart. I just love it how all those talented arty people share their creations for everyone to enjoy. It just seems so generous and friendly to me. :)

Oh gosh, that is a BEAUTIFUL picture. Definitely worth enlarging. For some reason, I'm staring at his lips... not for a "naughty" reason lol There's just such expression there, and the skin looks so real. This person is awesome.

Wow! That is one awesome piece of Cullen art.

Edit: :o apparently this is one of my favorite artists. Found pics on other websites, but could never link it to a deviant account. Think I'll be busy drooling at awesome drawings for a while...

Agree, her art is truly stunning! Her Anders series is just jaw dropping, IMO. If it helps, her devart handle used to be givethemhorns (I think I spelled that right); I guess it changed not terribly long ago (?).

Yes, poor, tortured Anders Image IPB Her name was indeed something like givethemhorns, but could no longer find that name, so I did not know how to track the artist.

So exciting to think that this time next year we will be playing DA3 woot! Time sure has flown by, I'm just hoping it continues to do so!

It would be really cool if some new Matt Rhodes art came out, or some more new news though

LOL good point. Need to plan for no distractions on release day. So who's pre-ordering? And where will you buy it? My old Gen X brain still fears digital.

I will pre-order it, special edition if possible. Last time I ordered it via a British company (can't recall the name right now), but I received it 1,5 weeks after the release date, so I had taken time off for naught ><... was not a happy panda. Think I will order it with a Dutch company this time (if they provide me with a special edition, that is). I don't mind digital versions, but I still like having a physical one too. That is how I turned up with DA:O, DA:awakening (both digital) and the ultimate edition (physical version).

I've gained a new appreciation for Cullen after replaying Origins as a mage. I'm also at least 80% sure he will be a companion. Hopefully he will be bi, too.

If there's a midnight release, I'll be preordering through Gamestop (as much as I HATE them and their employees) and get it that night. I'm impatient, nearly tore out all my hair waiting for the next morning when DA2 came out after wimping out of going to the release alone. Now I just don't care

Yeah that's what I fear with preordering the physical version online, that I won't get it on release day. I'll probably also shop around a bit for the best special. For DA2 I preordered the special ed with gamespot so I could pick it up that day. For digital, I guess this one will be Origin-only? Or do you think it will be available on Steam?
