LOL good point. Need to plan for no distractions on release day. So who's pre-ordering? And where will you buy it? My old Gen X brain still fears digital.

If there's a midnight release, I'll be preordering through Gamestop (as much as I HATE them and their employees) and get it that night. I'm impatient, nearly tore out all my hair waiting for the next morning when DA2 came out after wimping out of going to the release alone. Now I just don't care

Do you know how common it is to have a midnight release? Would you expect DAI to have one? I keep being confused by whether it's a big title or not.

I've gained a new appreciation for Cullen after replaying Origins as a mage. I'm also at least 80% sure he will be a companion. Hopefully he will be bi, too.

The thing that would annoy me if he was bi is that clearly our male Suranas and Amells just weren't good enough for him.

But I just really dislike the whole playersexual thing.

welcome! I'm still not personally convinced he'll be a companion, but hope springs eternal.:wizard:

maybe he was just not into them. :P  I just hope whoever wants to romance him can. We've waited too long.

Well I'm pretty sure it's a AAA title, and that it's an EA game usually means that they will do a midnight release for it. I wasn't even sure they were doing one for DA2 at the time, but I called them and he said they were (but again I chickened out) I'll usually ask beforehand anyway since I live near a Gamestop.

If I'm really excited about a game, I'll go to the midnight release so I can get it right away. I've only done that for two games: DA2 and Skyrim.

I went to a Resident Evil one once, it was cool cause the employees dressed up as zombies, and they had demos available while we waited. Recently though the ones I've gone to have been a bunch of waiting in line being bored. At the ME3 one the guy behind the counter was showing me his phone, and had Siri calling him "Shepard Commander" that I geeked out over

If there would be a midnight release here in town I might actually do it. But usually it is like 'there is one on the other side of the country!' Than I am rather lazy and stalk the mailman.

Ben Hellinas ‏@bengelinas:
Today I begin a rather different batch of @patrickweekes writing, and already it's got me blushing and nearly doing spit-takes.

Kind of reminds me of the Iron Bull survey concept. It could of course be Sera like in the 'fisting' concept art, but she's not painted all over Weekes' twitter.

Unless someone is proof reading one of those novels he's writing? The non-DA ones.

I've gone for DA2, Mass Effect 3, and Assassin's Creed 3. I used to go to the Harry Potter midnight openings, and now that's transferred over to video games. It's a lot of fun - I'm usually the only girl there that participates in conversation; the others sit in the corner texting.

I'm glad the manager at the time is gone, though. He thought he was a hotshot because he worked at GameStop.

If it's a game I'm really excited about, I'll pre-order. If it's not at the top of the list, I wait till it's used. Prefer to pre-order most of the time, though. Especially for those months with multi-releases. We pay half one month, and the month we go to pick it up in person at EB Games, we pay the rest. Then it doesn't break the wallet.

Definitely pre-ordering DA:I. I seriously doubt EB Games will do anything special for it. Never heard of them doing special things for anything in this area. They always close -reallllllly- early, too.

The one and only midnight release I went to was for Halo 4.

It was awkward, cold, and smelt like cigarette smoke so bad. Some dude drew a giant penis on the dust on the window and stupid guys were doing burn outs in the parking lot after consuming a pack of beer while a cop watched from his car 20 feet away.

Could not wait to get home.

I remember asking at that same GameStop a few years prior to ME2s release if there would be a midnight release for it. The employee I asked thought it was such a hilarious question and laughed at me while finally simply saying "No."

Fortunately, not too long after, the store hired a bunch of new workers who weren't total jerks. That particular store was known for the longest time to have douchey employees. They seemed to only be nice if you gushed about Call of Duty.

I can imagine a midnight release going down that way here. EB Games is the Canadian GameStop. We have two stores, one at a Wal-Mart and one at our mall. I refuse to go to the mall one because of the 3 guys who work there, only one is nice. The manager was usually nice, then I guess he had a bad day or something and was an infuriatingly smug faced condescending jerk. Haven't went back since.

And another of their workers I can't understand how he's managed to work there for so long.

Go in to get a pre-order. "Oh, sorry, we don't have that!" "Well.. yes, because you don't have it, yet!" "Oh."

Go in to buy a game. "We don't have that here!" "It's right in front of you!" "Oh."

And the day we went in to get a PS3, the guy went in the back and brought out an Xbox 360. "PS3, not Xbox!" He did that 3 times, then came back and said they didn't have any PS3s. The other guy working rolled his eyes, sighed and hung his head, stalked back there. And brought back out a PS3.

Luckily the other store is alot better. I've heard too many bad things about ordering from GameStop online.

Anyone know if I still have the opportunity to take that survey I missed for DA today? =/

As for midnight releases myself, I went to one. That will be my last one. It was for Battlefield 3 and the Gamestop employee was rude and was in line for like an hour. Plus I had a huge guy ahead of me in the line who smelled like he didn't bath for a week. I think his smell permanently tainted the clothes I was wearing that night for sitting behind him so long. Never again. I will not let the geek take over me again for a game I'm desperate to play. I'll just want until Amazon ships them on release day for me lol.

I've only been to one midnight release that was waaaay back for Halo 2. I went to the store earlier in the day and flirted/bribed the guys working the release with promises of free pizza (I worked at a Papa Murphy's at the time). So I showed up at 11:59pm and waltzed right to the front. No one questioned me because they were all too shocked to see a girl there.

Well, that sucks. Oh well, I doubt one person would've made a difference anyway.

I thought the survey was more 'for information' anyway (there is an 'official explanation' somewhere on this forum about the intentions of the survey).

I wonder if my local Gamestop does midnight releases. And if they do, whether they'd have one for Inquisition. Seeing as I'll pick up at least one collector's edition, I'll be there for sure if there is one. Gamestop is like 3 minutes of walking away from my door =)

I've never been to a midnight release, I usually do the pre-order so that it comes straight to my door, LOL!

Never been to one either. I guess I will only go there if it is here in town, or there are any interesting figures XD
