Like someone else said, I went to the Harry Potter book releases way back when, and those were a treat! I also used to go to midnight releases for movies (did that for all the Lord of the Rings). Might be too old for that now, haha... okay, not old, but no way can I stay up till three and make it to work the next day, blergh!!

As for games, I'm pretty sure they don't do that at my local GameStop (which used to be an EB!), so that's a no-go. We do have a Best Buy but I don't think they do that either. Only time I ever saw a line at Best Buy was on Black Friday. I did benefit from that, as my parents bought me my 40 inch TV for xmas that year xD

I was at the Midnight release to Dragon Age 2. That actually was the first sign I knew something was off with how they promoted the game because there was like only 100 people and previous midnight releases I attended had way more.

The Skyrim Release party was packed!!! And there was cosplays!

Yeah that's what I fear with preordering the physical version online, that I won't get it on release day. I'll probably also shop around a bit for the best special. For DA2 I preordered the special ed with gamespot so I could pick it up that day. For digital, I guess this one will be Origin-only? Or do you think it will be available on Steam?

I pray that they will come to some agreement and be on Steam. I have Origin but Steam is still so much better to use.

Never a bad thing!  Well, for us at least. I imagine it causes quite a bit of stress for the dev team though. 13 hour work day does not sound fun, even if it is designing a video game lol

Haven't played Baldur's gate (I have become a gamer quite late: DA was my first bioware game), so I cannot really comment on how the writing progressed during its development. But seeing how happily they are writing more now for DA:I... is it fall 2014 yet?

Me either. I can't sit there and not let it be in my control on when it makes it to my door. I did that when The Sims 3 came out, almost had a heart attack while waiting for the stinkin UPS guy. Midnight release lets me get it as soon as it is possible in my area lol  

Anyone planning to do a BSN blackout when it gets closer to release. I usually try to stay away once the demo comes out, since that's when it seems like the most spoilers are getting thrown around (in thread titles too, so you don't even have to go in a thread) Worse comes to worse I'll just bookmark this thread to avoid looking at the DA3 forums completely

Do you think they are going to tell us who all the companions are, or try to keep it secret? It'd be interesting if they didn't announce anything officially until the game came out, but since they already told us about Varric, Cass, and Vivienne it seems like they are just going to be letting us know periodically.
