yeah, that's about my own approach: playing it by ear. I already come straight here and skip the main BSN forums, so I'll probably go into main forum absolute blackout at some point. Not sure yet what I'll do about the Cullen thread and tumblr. I'm finding that everyone has a different personal definition of what's a spoiler for them, so it's impossible to adopt a blanket policy of what to talk about that isn't spoilery. I'm normally a spoiler positive person, but I don't really want to know, say, the ending of the game. I already know more about DAI than I ever knew about DA2 beforehand, since I wasn't a forumite then. Once it comes out, I'll definitely go into blackout on all platforms until I've finished it. Before that? Hmm, honestly I'll probably do nothing different until I run into a spoiler that spoils me... Then I'll pull back. LOLLolaLei wrote...
I'm gonna play it by ear and see exactly how tight lipped and careful the devs are this time around. I'll definitely go into black out when you guys get DAI though, because I won't recieve mine until a few days later, lol.littlenikki wrote...
Anyone planning to do a BSN blackout when it gets closer to release. I usually try to stay away once the demo comes out, since that's when it seems like the most spoilers are getting thrown around (in thread titles too, so you don't even have to go in a thread) Worse comes to worse I'll just bookmark this thread to avoid looking at the DA3 forums completely

I was expecting them to do something like the companion profiles online, like they did for DA2. So I guess Id be surprised if they kept them all secret until the game ships. But am I remembering that correctly? That they had all the companion profiles up before DA2 came out.littlenikki wrote...
Do you think they are going to tell us who all the companions are, or try to keep it secret? It'd be interesting if they didn't announce anything officially until the game came out, but since they already told us about Varric, Cass, and Vivienne it seems like they are just going to be letting us know periodically.

I know that DG wants to announce the LIs on Valentines Day (if he were to have any say in it), so presumably they plan to reveal the companions at some point before release.

right, that's what they did with DA2, right? That would be nice continuity, although that also seems really far in advance. Hmm.LolaLei wrote...

I'm desperately trying to remember the way DA2 companions were announced. And in what order. I vaguely remember there being a lot of speculation pointing towards Anders, though I didn't believe it, so I'm thinking he was one of the last ones, which seems weird in retrospect. I think I actually created Aveline's DA Wiki page, so I think she was announced shortly after Bethany, (and sort of Carver, but we all thought he just died in Lothering at that point).

Yeah, they announced the DA2 LIs on Valentine's Day, and I think that was was also when they announced they would all be playersexual too. Honestly, I'd rather they say who can be romanced and by which Inquisitor when they announce the companion. Stops people from getting their hopes up and then crushed that way.

The way it usually went was that you spotted someone in a screenshot they released, and then eventually they would do a little article/interview or something pertaining to that character. Then add it to the website after that. They didn't say that all the romances would be playersexual until the game came out though, because everyone was pretty convinced that Anders was the Bi and Fenris was straight for females, and then Bi Isabela and straight Merril for males.
Anders was last, Varric was first. Isabela came after the CGI trailer and then Aveline and the siblings (I think, might be switched) Fenris and Merril were sorta hinted at a lot until we saw some official screenshots,

Really? I was thinking Fenris would be the bisexual one. And I distinctly remember a lot of celebration and fan art when they announced the bisexual thing. One especially where they were all in a bed together and Fenris was like, "Don't touch me!".

Won't it be Inon Zur again to compose the music for DA?
There were rumors that because of the rush for DA2 that he didn't want to sign on for DA3, or something along those lines I think.

Ah, did not know that. Well, if it is true, maybe they can convince Two Steps From Hell? Their music fits the style too, and they have already cooperated once for a ME trailer.littlenikki wrote...

I hope whoever does the music for DAI (if it isn't Ion Zur) will still use a little of that signature DAI sound that we've come to expect from the games.
Gotta say, so far my fav DA tracks are Fenris's theme and The Grey Wardens theme

Ooh that one too! It's so dreamy and serene, but always gives me a sense of unease that I get from the tower and the mage origin.

Picked up Skyrim again yesterday and still I am not too fond of it. Sure, some things are great, like the (reactive) environment and roaming npc's. But the shallow npc's, button smashing for attacking and unclear maps are putting me off. Let's not mention the 'romance' (I mean, seriously?! "Cook for me andgigive me money, biatch!") I get hopelesly lost if I have to get somewhere, as the map does not show roads... Hopefully bioware hasn't watched Skyrim too much in that matter....

That's what worries me about that compass setup they showed in the demo, it's exactly the same as the Skyrim one. In the PAX podcasts they said they're unsure if the mini maps will be returning, although apparently they're looking into it. I got lost in DA:O and DA2 the first couple of times I played them even with the mini maps, so I dread to think how long it's gonna take me to learn the layout of the land and cities/towns/etc in DAI if I've gotta locate everything with that compass!
