It's funny, I ship Cullen and the Inquisitor together so hard that the thought of my character being with anyone else currently just doesn't feel right.

Same :crying: If he is not a LI... I will have to completely reconstruct my ideal Inquisitor. I usually build my character based on who I want to romance. And I've had my heart set on Cullen for over a year now.

Right now I can't imagine my first or canon Inquisitor romancing anyone else. That being said, we haven't seen or learnt about the LIs yet, so I guess that's to be expected.

Tbh though, I can't imagine my canon Warden with anyone else except Alistair, or my canon Hawke with anyone else but Anders.

Yeah, I can't imagine my canon Hawke being with anyone but Fenris. (For my game) there's no Hawke without Fenris. They just... GO together. DA2 was "their" story for me.

I want Inquisition to be like that. I want to really fall in love with a couple and just go on that journey together with them. I want to become obsessed with them and drown myself in fanart and fanfic, and replay the game 100 times lol Please let that happen again!!!

I feel Alistair would have been the "right" canon LI for my Warden but alas it was not to be. So I don't feel all that attached to my Warden, although I do love him. I just feel I wasn't able to tell the story I wanted to tell.

See, that's what I love about Dragon Age (and BioWare games in general) is that you can make your character and pick choices, love interests, friends and enemies that make your playthrough and your character feel very personal to the player.

I mean, Hawke was really only voiced by two people (a male and a female) and you only had 3 tones to pick from, however everyone's Hawke's are all so vastly different and everyone got a different experience out of it. Same goes for DA:O, the protagonist may not have been voiced but it was YOUR character, YOUR choice of love interest, YOUR choices and decisions etc.

Oh (last post I promise!) R2 mentioned Weidzman (apologies if I misspelled his name!); if I recall correctly, he was interviewing the composer who did the trailer. That was the scoop he had. I don't know if that really had anything to do with who the game's main composer would be.

That's right, the composer for the DAI: Fires Above trailer let slip that it was some dude (I've forgotten the name, but he done the musical score for The Tudors). It wasn't Ion Zur though.

Trevor Morris :P

This is my old interview - http://social.biowar.../index/17262705

I'm hoping it's not just some big Hollywood name they put on like Clint Mansell in ME3. I hope he does the entire soundtrack or at least a big portion of it. I'm not one who usually likes it when Hollywood composers do soundtracks in games but his style is perfect for Dragon Age.

Yes, this! For Origins Alistair was my canon LI and for DA:2 Anders. Yet for each playthrough the characters are different, which makes it easy to do another playthrough. That is also why I love discussing the game with others, as everyone has a different experience and (role)plays it in a different way. :wizard:

For me it does not really matter that much that in origins the character was mute versus voiced Hawke. The game has 1 way for a sentence to be meant anyway, so subtle tone differences cannot be done (regarding myself misinterpreting some sentences in DA:O). Therefore a voiced PC was perhaps easier for me: the character said things in a certain way, so I understood it right away instead of being like ' Why is he angry, I just gave a compliment, right?' (or something like that)

Pfff... the more I play Skyrim, the more I am loving Bioware characters... Bunch of shallow mules <_< Can't wait for next year!

It's frustrating, isn't it? And it's such a loooooooong game (techinically it never ends). I quit after 100 hours or so of play. There's no real story, your character has no personality, and the other characters aren't characters; they're just walking pixels with voices. Why am I playing this again? For the scenery? Yes, the scenery is beautiful... I processed that pretty well after my first 100 hours or so lol

Now imagine Skyrim with BW's characters and story...

Hard to even imagine something so perfect

Now I would argue that was something Origins succeeded at while DA2...didn't succeed as well at. With Origins, my very first playthrough, I went in with a character in mind. But within minutes, through dialogue choices, the character went a LONG way off. The character seemed natural to me, despite the fact it was my choices. I liked my first Warden, even though I'm not using her as any of my imports. All my Wardens are MY Wardens. They were all different, but they were all my characters.

Hawke, Hawke was always Bioware's character for me. I didn't really have a plan for her, I assumed it would be like Origins, but I soon realised I was wrong. Don't get me wrong, I like Hawke and I don't hate DA2 by any stretch of the imagination, I just want my character to be character, for DA2, I always go in with a plan, (Diploggressive in Lothering to get her family safe, Sarcastic in Act One, Hardened and Aggressive in Act Two, and wisened and sort of trying to keep the peace so Diplomatic in Act Three, for examples). Hawke didn't become mine, kind of like Shepard in ME. I have no idea why, I just hope the Inquisitor can be my character. Not Bioware's.

Well, that is just your experience and feeling though :) It's an opinion. Others might feel differently about both games. Let's not have DA:O versus DA2 fights here.

Trevor is a fantastic choice for the soundtrack. He can do upbeat tracks but also really slow emotional ones - He has great depth and variety with his music. This is something I felt Inon Zur didn't have (At least in Dragon Age).

I only said my opinion, and I never treated it as fact for anyone but myself, nor was I trying to start a fight. I was only trying to say how I hope the Inquisitor is more of a blank slate like the Warden was for me when compared with Hawke.

I know what you mean.

Although, Hawke was voiced. I didn't feel attached to her/him as much as my Warden.

I've been playing  Skyrim off and on when I can...and I find I'm not as attached to my character as I am with my Bioware Warden Character.

But I'm hoping that DA:I will be a combination of Skyrim and DAO all together. Lets not forget, CULLEN! lol

Skyrim is a fun game to play, but the story has no depth at all. I hope they take no influence from Skyrim whatsoever.

There are things of Skyrim that are awesome for a RPG and could make DA close to perfect for me. For example, I love it that the NPC's move around, which adds to the feel that they are persons. Also, interaction between NPC's on the street

Naw, he's rendering a video to show the other devs during sprint review. It's like a show & tell meeting for them all.

We'll only get to vaguely hear about stuff via Twitter, lol.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both voiced and silent protagonists, but that's a different topic.

My point was that even though Hawke only had 3 tones to pick from and DA2 was rushed/limited, if I played yours or anyone elses playthrough of DA2 with your/their Hawke I'd feel no attachment, despite the fact that you/they may have chosen the exact same options, simply because it's not MY Hawke, he/she doesn't look like mine and (obviously) wouldn't have the same headcanoned story to fill in the gaps. Same goes for DA:O. If that makes sense.

It's important to also note that we knew we were pushing the date before you guys did, and with that comes opportunities to look at other things and have more iteration.

So that could be a completely new companion, then? Hm... intriguing!
