huh that IS intriguing. I wonder if it's a new companion, or could it even be a rewrite of a previously more limited companion? I'm so curious to ask them, once DAI is released, what they changed when the date changed! I wonder if they would tell us.LolaLei wrote...

It's important to also note that we knew we were pushing the date before you guys did, and with that comes opportunities to look at other things and have more iteration.

They'd probably tell us once the game shipped. Hm, so we've either got 10 companions now, or more content for the 9 already written.
I'm also curious about this tweet that DG made on the 25th:
David Gaider: "13-hour work day, including a 4-hour meeting, resulting in (potentially) a lot more work for me. I sense much drinking tomorrow."
I wonder what it is that they're hoping to add to the game that'll create even more work for him?

it is weird that there's so much writing still going on. But maybe it's also a sign of the rush at the end for the writers. They have to be done before everyone else.

Well more work doesn't always mean completely new content. Could be rewrites or retooling or expanding.

It does seem strange, doesn't it. I don't know if this is something they always do but have been more open/vocal about it this time around, or if all this extra writing is due to the extra year?
I mean, the game originally was supposed to be out by now, so surely they had the bulk of it done already? Gah, I dunno.

I was just having a listen to some of Trevor Morris' pieces (the guy that's rumoured to be doing the DAI soundtrack), he's very good at capturing atmosphere in his music. If he really is working on DAI then I don't think we'll be disappointed!
It says he is on wikipedia, but I guess that doesn't mean anything haha. I remember when it said Troy Baker was voicing the Inquisitor on wiki... That turned out to be false =P

Yeah, the problem with Wiki is that anyone can edit it, so the information on there can't entirely be trusted when it comes to stuff like that. Regardless, the guy that done the DAI: Fires Above trailer music seems to think that it's Trevor Morris, and apparently they're friends, so I can only presume that it's probably true.

He is a fairly cool pick for the soundtrack, but I don't see him composing the entirety of it. I'm thinking they are going to have more than one composer, similar to how they did ME3. I have no problem with that. If the work Trevor does for DA:I is anything like his work on The Tudors it is going to be amaaaaaazing. I'd even like to see his take on some of the trademark Dragon Age tracks.

I just hope that it'll keep at least a little of the previous games signature sound. Even if it's just that lady singing in Elven tongue.
You can hear some of the soundtrack in the Dev Diary, it sounds pretty cool.

Question is, will they release the full HD thing to the public to see? Or is it just for the people at the Gamex event?

And totally random: why does bioware have so little DA related stuff in the Bioware store compared to ME? I want some cool DA-themed hoody to annoy the N7-hoody crowd in my friends group... The only nice thing I would want is the grey warden t-shirt... Heck, just give me a hoody with the grey warden motto, templar symbol, or whatever shiny DA-related in any non-charcoal colour (please: just black!) and I'd know something to ask for x-mas. Ok, /endrant

Argh, I know what you mean! My friend loves ME and he bought a bunch of N7 stuff a month or two ago and I was like, that's so cool, I want a Qunari top or bag or whatever! And all they have are these little 'amulets' and coasters. Bioware, I have money to throw at you! I want to make it rain! Give us some cool Dragon Age stuff! But not even redbubble have much Dragon Age stuff I would wear in public.

Why do you guys like Cullen that much?
I mean, sure he ain't bad character nor he's boring, though what's the appeal for this seemingly random NPC to be so popular?
I was never much on Dragon Age forums, so this is new to me.
I'm just curious.

Because the guy has probably had more character development than another other NPC? In Origins, he was very sympathetic to the plight of the mages, but while also balancing his loyalty to the Chantry and his duty to the Templar Order. The Uldred fiasco radically changed his perception of them, having seen his friends tortured and killed by demons and psychologically tormented himself and he became a bit of a Chantry zealot. But when he was moved the Kirkwall and saw the much harsher treatment of mages there, he slowly began to once again question his views and wonder is it fair, is it right to treat mages like this? Then he finally realises Meredith has gone too far and stands up to her.
He's been forced from one extreme to the other and landed in very murky, ambiguous territory. His character could go either way, I feel. And throw in an (at least) ten year strong lyrium addiction, (which I vaguely remember the writers expressing the view that they really haven't done it much justice in the past), and you have some very interesting implications for DA:I.
Well, I guess I can see some appeal now.
Still not entirely seeing it, but I guess he has a pretty good potential in DA:I as a major character in it.
But as a companion? Maybe there's potential too?
Though doubtful, as Casandra is confirmed companion. And having two character that served Chantry in nearly same roles would be redundant.
But what do I know?
Only recently I started to get more deep into Dragon Age, as I am with Mass Effect.

Apart from what has already been mentioned by Elfman (which I agree with), he starts of as a shy, insecure young man during the mage origin. Apparently joined the templars as a little boys dream of wanting to be a knight (info from cutted content), and gets quickly thrown into the deep. In one way by developing feelings for a mage within his circle, which is against chantry law (struggling between feelings and vows) and another by the torment suffered during the Circle events. (Still think that one of the strongest peaks there is the 'tempting me with the one thing I always wanted but could never have': he shows that he is able to withstand the demons temptations, even if it pains him... or that is how I see it).
Taking into account that there is no real help to recover from trauma, he has to go through it all by himself. Yet he does not go crazy.
At the start of DA:2 he seems to have extreme views, probably in a way to protect himself and give the happenings of DA:O a place. However, he is slowly able to see that such is not the correct way and has to make hard decisions again: follow his hearth or orders?
The Ferelden circle was very loose, and got overrun by blood magic. Kirkwall has quite his share of blood mages and a thin veil, so wanting to keep a firm grip on the mages in order to prevent a similar event as in Ferelden is in that way understandable (and why he first agrees with Meredith). Not only for the safety of Kirkwall, but also for the mages themselves.
But the latter... Meredith ignores that part of the templars duty, which makes him getting doubt (he expresses this by saying something along the lines that Meredith may no longer serve the chantries orders). However, insubordination will most likely cost him his life too (Meredith seems to kill anyone who disagrees with her). Besides, he stays doubtful until Meredith reaches the final straw by wanting to kill Hawke. Than he stands up for what is right in his eyes.
So, sorry for the not quite objective point of view, but I hope you get what I mean
