Wait, sorry, saying what I'd said before would be hypocritical.

LOL! Seb has his pros and cons, no lie. FWIW, I see it as someone speaking rashly words he'll later regret, but Seb's blinders and unchecked priviledge can be a turnoff for some.

It would do, you romanced her so it feels alien to you, especially when you're emotionally invested. It's like when I think about female Amell and Cullen getting together, makes me cringe. My Amell belongs to Alistair, dammit!

It's not even that, it's that Carver skeeves me the hell out. He fundamentally does not seem to be a good person, especially when it comes to magic.

*discreetly points to my Hawke* ahem.

"I will destroy this whole city, in so doing demonstrating the most amazing lack of self-awareness in the entire franchise! Blargh!"

Seb's a Prince, he's likely always been a bit selfish and bratty at heart... plus I think he saw Elthina as a mother figure, so the reaction seems fitting for him. I'd wanna kill everyone too if someone killed off my mum and my friend sided with the person that murdered her.

To me, Carver is just the typical jealous sibling stamping his feet, lol. He's very childish, although he definitely grows up a lot once he joins the Warden's (not quite so much if he's in the Templar Order). I wouldn't say he was a bad person, just very young and a little self entitled.

Actually participating in genocide... I just... no, just no. Someone who has the potential to do that, I can't get behind, not without them having a redemption arc.

I'm not a Carver expert... but isn't him standing up to Meredith at the end a bit of a redemption arc...? It's just a beginning, but it's something.

Only if you make him a Templar. He only joined to ****** mage Hawke off anyway, which goes to show how childish he is at that point. Gotta hand it to him though, he'll side with Hawke regardless so at least he's got some morals when it comes to sticking up for his family.

Not to be rude, but I can't help but think part of the reason you dislike him so much is because he had a crush on Merrill and can (optionally) join the Templars. Had he gone straight to the Wardens and fancied Isabela instead, would you have still disliked him so much?

More of a hint than an arc.

I actually think that shows less morality than standing up for strangers.

Well, yes, pulling off among the most profound acts of sheer betrayal possible out of sheer spite pissed me off a tad. And he does hit on Isabela as well.

He's a young single guy, they hit on everyone. I found it sweet that he had genuine feelings for Merrill, beyond "I wanna bang you" which probably would've been the case if he'd gone after Isabela. Besides, Isabela flirts with everyone, even Varric flirts back and he doesn't even find humans attractive. Bethany shows some interest in Isabela too at first, although it seemed more like curiosity than anything else.

Bethany/Isabela, I would be fine shipping. Sebastian... rubs me all wrong possible ways as a romantic partner, especially for Bethany. But that wasn't what bugged me about Carver; it's nigh-solely the templar thing.

As for romances we considered? Carver/Merrill, for one, and Bethany/Sebastian for the other. I think there was a hint of that in “Mark of the Assassin”, but we never ended up taking it further. Too bad, really. I like the idea of Princess Bethany (and so would she). I don’t remember if we’d discussed any other romances in DA2 or DAO…
maybe? If we did, it was probably as individual characters that could have had romance plots (which were later dropped) and not pairings inside the party.

Argh. Princess Bethany. *shakes fist*

Stealing a Lola question: What if Cullen was one of those "individual characters"? How would you have felt about Cullen's romance shot being a minor plotline in DA2?  (and I know Lola's answer is a categorical NO! LOL)

hmm did you guys see this thread.. personally I hope the game doesn't get pushed back if they gonna cut back on content, but to me that doesn't really make sense if ypu push back a game it would be to add some stuff not remove ... but oh well

If you happened to actually meet Cullen in battle in The Last Straw, instead of just having him talk before Meredith attacks everyone, would you kill him?

I don't understand this question; I mean if the game forced me to fight me then I'd have to. Otherwise I think this scenario needs fleshing out. Why is Cullen raising his sword against Hawke? That seems to go against his character.

Seb was a bit of a waste, didn't really seem worth having him as an LI at all. I mean, I'm fine with the "no sex" thing, but surely he's allowed to show affection, if only with words or a kiss on the hand or something. He didn't get much in the way of general content really either, which is such a shame because he had a lot of potential.

I quite like the idea of Bethany/Isabela, I could totally see that working.

Huh, seems pretty slim evidence to base a whole article on. All the EA dude said was, "We have Sims next year, we would most likely, possibly have Dragon Age next year."  ??  Sounds more like Fall 2014 could just slip back to first quarter 2015.

I actually kinda like the Merrill/Isabela friendship and could see that progressing. I love how Bela looks after her.

Y'know, I dunno. I mean, when I first played DA2 I didn't know what Cullen was like in the mage origin, I'd only seen him crazy in this pink cage, plus I wasn't expecting him to be "not-mental" or that I'd end up really wanting to romance him in DAI, LOL. Soooo, had he been paired up with one of our companions, or another npc I would've been cool with it (and probably found it cute), because I wouldn't have known any different.

Knowing what I know now, however? Hm, I'd certainly be disappointed, but I'm not expecting him to be romanceable or a companion in DAI, so I'd rather him not end up alone. Maker knows the poor guy needs some affection, so if my Inquisitor can't have him then I'd hope that some other npc or companion would.

Since we're discussing characters who don't belong together, mainly because we romanced one of them and they belong to us forever and always, Isabela x Fenris OMG :sick::sick:

*Name removed*: "@Mike_Laidlaw @machinimated @Cameron__Lee @AarynFlynn "Possibly have Dragon Age next year" ? It's not certain guys? :("

Cameron Lee: " Don't worry, Dragon Age: Inquisition is shipping fall 2014. The team is hard at work :)"

Can they add more to Dragon Age Inquisition if the fans are made to wait until 2015?

If the release date does slip, and that's IF, it will undoubtedly because we feel we need more time to make the game we currently have on our hands. At that point we will be cutting content that's not finished yet, not adding new content in. You will get less features, possibly some that were already mentioned would be removed, not new features thrown in as candy to "reward" you for the extra wait.

So, I think this makes perfect sense to me. If they're not done  in Fall 2014 with their To Do list for the game, they're not going to add more things to that list that need to get done. They'll finish what they have planned and remove anything not quite done in order to be 'done done.'

Maybe I'm missing some of the concern...?

yes it does make sense if they release it  when they said they will in 2014 fall but the way I understood was IF the game gets pushed back to lets say fall 2015 that they will cut content instead of adding some

I think he just means cut things that aren't done, tho.

I think the important distinction here is WHY it's being pushed back. DAI was pushed from Fall 2013 to Fall 2014, a whole year, so they could add things. And they have. If the game gets further pushed back (which so far it has not, apparently), I doubt it's to add things again. It's probably just typical issues of not quite being ready to ship. So in that scenario they'd be cutting not adding. This is further supported by Cameron's tweet (and comment in that thread) that they're still on target, so any delay would be the latter scenario (not being quite done, or even marketing better for the next quarter), not the former (adding a year to add things to the game).

That's just a worst case scenario, though.

Don't forget that they've been working on DAI since before DA2s completion, and the idea/basic storyline for DAI has been in the pipeline ever since DA:O. They made DA2 in little over a year. By Fall 2014 they'll have been working on DAI for 4 years, plus originally DAI was supposed to be out now, so they've likely got the bulk of it done already. This extra year just allows them to implement ideas and concepts that wouldn't have been possible previously (like the return of playable races).

Trust me, this game will definitely ship in Fall 2014.
