Completely off topic, but has anyone played GTA V? I was shocked when my brother-in-law, who's been a long time fan of the series (he and I both played GTA3 together, way back when), said he was revolted by the game and would be returning it.

I wonder if this is a signal to the gaming industry that consumers aren't interested in extremely violent and sexist content in video games and won't accept it anymore.

Some of the sexist stuff I heard made me feel very uncomfortable. I'm definitely never even buying it as a pre-owned. Then again, I very rarely enjoy a Rockstar game. The only one I've liked was Canis Canem Edit. That said, I really enjoyed the Murder desk of LA Noire, but...no. The main character was exceptionally frustrating for me.

The only controversial thing I've actually heard about from that game was that torture scene you can do.
Finally broke down and watched part of it and, yeah, not the greatest thing to see.

The detail of "your controller will vibrate in unison with the victim's heart rate. When he dies, it stops vibrating and you shock him back to life!!!" didn't help.

I'm not sure if it's funny or sad that the blatant sexism and racism don't even phase me anymore. It's just... so expected from a Rockstar game I don't have expectations for anything different.

Wow... I didn't even know about that. I bet that's part of what upset him so much. He's just never returned a game before. Who is this appealing to? Psychopaths? Who wants to "really feel as if they're ending someone's life"? Wow.

GTA3 was so fun. That was a major bonding game between us for me and him. I was cool playing games with my "new" big brother. Maybe I view it with nostalgia goggles? I don't remember it being so awful.

To me this just paves the way for the type of games BW creates. Inclusive, inspirational, empowering to the player. Sure, you can make "moral" choices, but you're not a villain. Well, except for that person who did the YT video of their Warden murder knifing half of Thedas.

About GTA5...

I haven't played it and never really had a burning desire to play GTA, but I watched a Let's Play because I was curious and I was satisfied with just watching the game. However, it was a good game and worth a watch/play; it actually made me think of a few sensitive topics. 

GTA is a social commentary  - murder, torture, sexism etc. is in the video game for people to talk about, and that's EXACTLY what's going on. The torture scene? The crazy "protagonist" named Trevor is actually AGAINST torture, and he brings up a very interesting point about it.

So, I don't have as big a problem with GTA as I thought I would. It's an interesting, and even fun-looking game.

I wouldn't have a problem at all with a cousin. *rubs chin* I would say "uncle" is weird, but there happens to be an uncle/nephew pairing in an older anime that I secretly adore, and though it's embarrassing to admit, I can't help it. Besides, you don't learn they're related until the very, very end lol

As for brother, I couldn't do that. Unless we're talking stepbrother lol Though luckily this is all impossible since we've got playable races, and I don't see how Cullen could be related to a qunari lol

But if Cullen turned out to be my character's long lost brother I'd probably cry big sobby tears. XD

I think most games now a days include murder scenes/ torture, hell even DA had it but in the end its just a game. A lot of the times I don't take it that seriously, I played the game it was pretty fun over all it had its fun moments and it was pretty interactive the most fun I had with it was flying the plain lol

As for the what point I would say no to Cullen .. idk... watching game of thrones made me kinda grossed out with the whole incest thing sooo yea not sure I guess I will say no to all of those...

I would not care too much about incestbElfman. Historically it is totally acceptable.

For that matter, I would personally not mind being family to Cullen. Full brother would be pushing it though... and for the record: irl I would never even consider it XD It's just that I like placing myself in another mindset when playing a game

Haha, it's not so much the social implications, more whether or not any children will have the inbred trait. If you've never played CK2, it's like the worst trait you can possibly have as it affects EVERYTHING. Especially health and fertility. I've already had four inbred heirs I've had to do away with. Ah, the problems when the father of my queen's children was also the father of her mother and grandmother's children. Damn him and his genetic lottery.

Oh and I'd romance Cullen no matter the relation. It's not like you can have kids in a Bioware game!

LMFAO! That's the best thing I've read all day! 

I'd say do what the real royals do and introduce some fresh outsider blood into the mix to water down the inbred traits. A couple of generations down the line the worst the kids will suffer from is maybe an extra toe on their head, or a third nipple. :lol::lol:

Oh my stars. I can see wanting to skirt the edges of an issue to explore it. But, putting the power in your hands like that, literally, seems a little too torture porn for me. But then, I haven't played it or even seen a youtube.

I think like others I'd only really balk at #3. Like ag99, finally watching Game of Thrones makes the brother thing a little skeevy. But! Like others have said, it is a game, and more importantly, for me, it's Cullen! So, realistically, there ain't nothin' in the 'Verse that would stop me from romancing him if I had the option.
