For fun, I just posted the final chapter of my story The Coming Storm, which has some spoilery DA:I speculation (nothing more than we've discussed here, but there you go). And, yes, Cullen shows back up in this one.

Chapter 4: Inquisition
In 9:40 Dragon, Knight-Commander Cullen responds to an urgent summons from Val Royeaux and faces a difficult choice, setting in motion a series of events that will change the face of Thedas.

Chapter Summary: When Cassandra's mission comes to an end, a new one begins.

That was awesome! <3

Yeah I like the over the top animations. It makes sense. Dragon's Dogma, which I actually didn't enjoy, isn't like or supposed to be like Dragon Age. DD is an action RPG, while DA wants to be more of a tactical RPG. It's that whole spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate thingy, remember? The OTT stuff just makes it more interesting to look at I suppose.

Yeah I know they're not supposed to be like each other; I just enjoy one more than other (combat ONLY; obviously DA is above and beyond the rest in terms of story and character :P). Also I did say I figured the silly animations was probably their "style" so while I don't know anything about Baldur's Gate or other ancient games, it all ties in to what I said, which is that BW is trying to make this (or has already made this) kind of animation their signature style.

I remember noticing for the first time when a second round of enemies just dropped from the rooft tops in DA2; I was so new to RPGs, I was just like, huh, ninjas, from the rooftop. Huh. *plays on*

Funnily enough, at first I didn't even notice that they dropped from the sky everywhere. I recall them dropping in lowtown and I thought that were jumping down from roofs and windows, which I thought was pretty cool. Then after my third playthrough I noticed that they do it everywhere, LOL!

... I didn't even notice the same reused environments at first either!

Yeah, I thought, oh it's nice to see the same cave has the same layout. Or it's cool how the cave on the Wounded Coast connects to the different entrances like this.

I noticed the lack of female dwarves very quickly though!

I think I'm okay with what I've seen with DA:I's combat animations so far.

I'm fine with slightly flashy.

That is one huge skeleton... and a very painful way to stab yourself with a staff XD

Thought it looked like a giant skeleton ready to whack a mole Hawke, but now I can only see this.

I have to admit I'm a little shocked whenever I see anyone talk about Dragon Age combat animation being silly or over the top (now, I admit the staff-stabbing in DA2 was too much, and I didn't personally like the Rogue animations, but everything I've seen from DA:I seems pretty standard to me). That's not to say people can't find the animations silly or over-dramatic, of course! It's more a comment on what I notice, really, and I apparently just adapt to whatever combat a game has without much care/thought.

Edit: for clearity! I realised I might have worded some things weird, so fixed!

Cullen, if he is a companion and romanceable, might have a bit of competition if Mr. Weekes is writing a male romanceable character. Love that man's writing.

I know, especially if it's an elf. Always feel bad when I romance outside my race in DA!

I'm the exact opposite. I like mixing up the races when it comes to my pairs~

I think I'm just so used to all different games, some more dramatic than others, that I don't even notice it unless it's REALLY out there and... even then I don't normally care. I guess I'm pretty adaptable and easy to please, though. -scratches chin-

...Then again, I find Fable combat pretty standard/whatever.

I guess for me it is because I am used to watching 'realistic' fighting as I am surrounded by people who have swordfighting and archery as a hobby, and therefore it rubs me a bit the wrong way when I see, for example, people with huge weapons swing it like it has no weight...

Right, right! I can understand that.

I guess when it comes down to it, though, it's a fantasy game and not meant to be a real-life combat simulator. That's not to say realistic fighting can't be fun/done, as Dark Soul's is a great example of that, but when it comes down to it no one here buys Dragon Age -- or Bioware games -- for the combat, right? It's all for that story and those characters~ <3

I wonder how those upgrades are going to work and have impact. Same for the agents: are these actual npc's you can interact with.

Pictures of the agents look kind of generic, like card game pictures. We used to play this game called Magic and it reminds me of that.

EDIT: Of course like most things pre-alpha, could be a place-holder....

Ha! Me neither. I don't know about you, but I'm not a very perceptive person at all, which is why I'd be a very bad beta tester.
When I first heard people complaining about the reused environments, I was really confused. But once I saw it for myself and realized what was going on, I could not unsee it. It didn't bother me much, though.

I hope the Magic look isn't a placeholder, I like it, and my friends like it, (especially the proper Magic nerd who would play it constantly if he could).

I'm most interested in the Shattered Colossus upgrade. If I get it, I want it to look like me! I am so going mad with power here! But it's really expensive by the looks of it, so it'll be interesting to see how they justify this.

And I'm REAAALLLLY not keen on what looks like Inquisition symbol. With the fist and the pointy ring thing. Too anarchisty/magey looking for me. What if we want to defend the status quo? What if for us, the quo is quo so we want it to be the status? I get if we think the quo isn't quo and we want complete change, but....ugh. I'm just lawful neutral I think. I don't like change! I hope we can choose our symbol.

I just feel bad because of the whole dying race thing. Hell, I feel guilty when I have a non-heterosexual elf, never mind one who's into humans! Hence why my gay and bisexual characters all have boring ears.

I like the cards too, I was just wondering if there is more where they are refering to. Actual npc's would have my preference over only cards.

Yeah, that's how much I paid too (except in £). I dunno if that's for the full game, or just the one episode... hopefully the former!

Doing a little research online, it seems you bought the season bundle. Each episode costs about $5 US. (Adjust that to your own currencies accordingly.)

$25 per episode would be highway robbery. You'd end up spending over $100 for the whole season.

I paid it in euro via steam (some 20-ish too), which was for the whole package.
