I just started playing The Walking Dead game (the one with Lee and Clementine). It's interesting. Probably helps that I'm a fan of the show. It was on sale on Steam for Halloween, I think it was $6.24 for all the content that was available.

Do you think Cullen's ever taken a hit off of red lyrium?

Maybe, I guess it depends if Meredith's little episode put him off, or if he even realised that red lyrium caused her to go jumping around the Gallows like a mad thing. I'd prefer it if he didn't, but it would certainly make for an interesting storyline!

It might be a way to demonstrate what can happen through personal conversation with someone who's not necessarily an enemy?

I must say, it doesn't seem as though Cullen's outlook on mages really changed much between the beginning and end of DA2. All he objected to was Meredith's "kill everyone immediately" policy, and the survivors would have been made Tranquil later anyway, which he evidently considers significantly superior to death.

I dunno what that's got to do with the possibility of him huffing red lyrium, but I think the reason most of us like him is because he is a majorly flawed character. Personally, it doesn't bother me whether he loves or hates mages, I just find his character intriguing.

They didn't directly relate, it was just another Cullenish observation I had. Even if it's been said before; if so, I apologize.

I wonder if it's more likely to find him interesting as a character if you're attracted to men? Is there much of a gay Cullen fanbase?

Hard to say, I mean, I've found loads of female characters interesting and I wasn't attracted to all of them. I've seen a few gay men that had quite a thing for Cullen, but in general the Cullen fanbase really isn't as big as people seem to think.

I think if Cullen is a party member, I think it likely he'll have been imprisoned and tortured by his fellow templars in the period between Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition for his part in killing Meredith. Having now been abused by both sides of the conflict, he becomes incredibly jaded and joins the Inquisition because: a) you freed him and he's (grudgingly) grateful, or B) he thinks only a third option will save Thedas.

It certainly is one of the most stable, given that this is the only DA2 character thread that regularly updates, to my knowledge.

We thought about making a Cullen thread in the main DAI forum, but that would be... unwise, LOL.

Where is it in the lore that it says they would have been made Tranquil anyway? I don't recall that. Is it in the lore book? I still don't have that. :( As for the red lyrium, I think in DA2 he had not taken any or he'd have been as batsh!t as Meredith. I hope he doesn't but you never know. The writers could certainly do that with him. I think his attitude towad mages had softened by the end of DA2. In the beginning, he was less than a year from his tortures in DAO and was still spitting venom about mages. He isn't doing that by the end of DA2. He even disagrees with Hawke if you go too far to the Templars' side. Granted he only speaks of his disagreement, rather than do something about it but I suspect Cullen was written in such a way as to be sort of middle of the road, provided just for another POV to how the player is making decisions and not designed to interfere in any real way - not like Wynne and the others in DAO. It's something I wish they would build into the games. In my opinion, of the pro-Chantry templars Cullen has seemed at least hesitant to be too harsh, over the years. I think he waffles back and forth, which is why I find him intriguing.

I've only run across the occasional gay BSN member so I doubt we could accurately tally gay Cullen fans. Then again, I'm not here that much lately so... :? We do have a couple of straight male Cullen fans that pop in here sometimes though.

Even though this is basically the "Cullen Appreciation Thread," it's evolved into a safe place for discussion of Dragon Age stuff (and other topics of interest, like Lola's LPs) away from some of the loonies and soapbox crusaders who haunt the main Inquisition forum right now. I'm not even that interested in Cullen and I still check this thread (though I do support his inclusion in Inquisition).

You're pretty moderate in comparison to some, Xil.

Myself, I fall into the "bored ****" camp, so don't mind me too much.

Different strokes for different folks, peeps. I'm a chick and bi and I wanted to romance the pants off of Aveline. 'Twas a sad sad day when I learned I couldn't. :crying:

Ah. I hadn't heard Gaider mention it but ok.

Aveline'd be fun, possibly... though I'm perfectly happy with Merrill.

I'd say you're too logical and well thought to be a "crusader". lol! one of the things that peeves me the most are other BSNers who claim we're hysterical and such but they're the ones who can't provide a respectful discourse.
