Even Logain, who I really don't like as a person (though I adore as a villain), shouldn't be summed up as just 'evil betraying jerk nugget'. Same goes for Rendon Howe. There's more to him than just 'betraying bastard'.

Well, there's also "racist mass murderer," but did you mean something else? Even his own son admits that he doesn't have much sympathy for him.

Well, I'm no way in the world going to claim Rendon Howe is a good person or that I like/understand his motivations, but I will point out that he does have motivations. They aren't GOOD, but they are a part of his character and make him more than a flat piece of cardboard, and that includes jealousy towards Bryce, a belief that he deserves more, feeling cheated that Bryce is considered such a hero while he's little more than the B team even when they fought in the same war...

And let's not forget that Highever originally belonged to a cousin of the Howes. And Nathaniel didn't realize this until after he spoke to Delilah. Or, at least, he didn't believe it until then.

I also like the idea that it was Teagan who repaired the amulet too, though it probably was Eamon.

I don't know why, but I always thought the amulet was a duplicate. And Alistair was just stupid enough to think it was the same one. My Warden didn't have the heart to point that out to him. I'm wondering why I thought that though??? Is that in the game anywhere??

That's one of the key reasons I don't ever make Alistair king, because WOW, that is one big, life changing decision to make for someone. Especially when he asks you not to make him king.

My Warden definitely considered Alistair his bestie. But he kind of felt that Alistair needed to stop whining and just be a man and do his duty. (I mean that's what the Warden had to do after all; he didn't want to leave his family, but he had to.)  (Now my other Warden, he WAS excited about leaving the city, but he did NOT want to become a Warden, once he learned of the ritual.)  And both my Wardens hated Anora for obvious reasons (betrayal, weak semi-ruler, etc... that's the impression they got, and I got (though I don't always agree with my characters. Seems there are other situations where she doesn't seem as such; sadly I didn't get to play/see those.)

So it was like, dude, stop complaining and just step up and do this thing. We need you.

One of the dialogue options is 'it's probably a duplicate' or something like that when you give it to Alistair, maybe that's where the idea came from?

Either that, or it's because Alistair says it SHATTERED and... that makes it sound pretty hard to repair?

It really could go any way with that situation.

LOL Duh, that's probably it. Now I remember that dialogue option. I snorted when I saw it. Honestly, my first Warden was kind of a little dick, so he might have even picked that option lol!

And ah yes, the whole shattered bit. =] Oh, Alistair.

My City!Elf was a bit of a jerk when he wanted to be, and telling King Cailan that he killed a noble for raping his friend when they first meet is just...

Yes. Good.

It's not a nice situation, but I do love that dialogue option. It's possibly my favourite. Way to confront the King about the crap that goes down in the Alienage he doesn't bother to pay attention to.

I always choose that option when I play a city elf. It's just so, so... Cailan seems like a good man overall, but how can you be so oblivious to what is going on in your own capital city

I can't even decide who is worse between Cailan and Cullen in the art of obliviousness.

So, uh, yeah. That Cullen guy.
Since it's been revealed that warriors can dual wield again, what role would you put him in (speaking as if he was a companion)?

and I apologize if this has been brought up multiple times before, I do not remember it being brought up much

Whether or not he is one will most likely dictate what I do with Cassandra too.
If he is one, he'll be my sword and board and she'll dual wield because that just sounds like an amazing sight to see. I forsee much poking in the future.
If he is not one, then I'll have her as my s&s.

I guess for the other maybe!companions, Iron Bull would be a 2Hander (qunari, obviously) and.... I have no idea what I'd do with Beardy Grey Warden. Another s&s I guess. :alien:

I'm also hypothetically hoping that a mage character will be ****y to him or him be ****y to anyone else in the party. I loved speccing Morrigan a healer and making her heal Alistair while having him protect her. Same with Anders and Fenris.

/too much talk

Yes! I like a bit of tension in my party as well, why I loved bringing Anders and Fenris or Morrigan and Alistair.

I think I would have Cullen as my s&s, Varric as my rogue, probably Vivienne as dd mage, if she is as sassy as I think she will be and me as healing mage. I like a 2 mage set up, makes me feel safer. Also I hope that if we get a Mabari again that it will be summonable (is that a word?) and not a party member like in DA:O.

I can't see Cullen bickering with someone like Anders and Fenris, but I can see him making threats, promising lets say a mage that if they step out of line and betray the Inquisitor that he would cut them down without hesitation. I see him more as a silent type, let his actions speak more than his words.

I got such a bad vibe from Anora since the beginning, that I have never let her rule alone... it is either her and Alistair, Alistair and Cousland, or Alistair alone for me. Besides, she is just a commoner :P

For Cullen as party member [heavy speculation] I think I would let him either go 2-hander (DA:O) or S&S (DA:2). Beardy seems a cool guy too, so he might be taking the other role (so i will have one 2-hander and one s&s on board). So far Vivienne is not screaming 'pick me, pick me' to me, go guess I will try the bald mage guy first. And Varric, I'll sure bring him along for the first playthrough

His own guards basically forbade him from entering the Alienage. Although I take that option too.

I would make Cullen a S&S tank, since I never really play as a warrior myself and I always like to have a tank in my group. On the plus side, it reassures me that I wont miss any dialogue w/ him since he's always there (did the same thing w/ Alistair) *heavy breathing* You can never leave me Cullen! You are mine foreverrrr *crazy laughter*

Probably would make Cullen an S&S if he isn't already. 2handers just seem too ponderous (by DAO rules) and slow response time. When they DO hit though it's considerably hard. But 2 handers rarely stay in my group long enough for me to make much use of them and IF Cullen is an option for DAI as a companion, I'd like to bring him along with me. He'd only come along in a party capacity if he were S&S or if I already had an S&S and needed another hard hitting dps. Since I usually play healer mages. I did the same with Alistair and Aveline. I'd have done so with Mhairi had she lived past the Awakenings intro.

I don't care for 2 handers for those exact reasons. (Sorry Sten) Fenris squeaked by if he was my LI, otherwise Aveline was my powerhouse. You know what would make me reconsider? A female Qunari companion. I think, in my mind, that would be the only way to top Aveline's badassedness.

I thought Fenris was excellent in DA2, although he was no tank. But that wasn't his job.

I will make Cullen S&S. I will be a rogue archer. I'll bring Dorian/chill elf/Tevinter mage as my mage. And hopefully Cole? If not, maybe Sera.

Fenris was awesome in DA2, I switched to him as my main tank as I grew tired of Aveline. So my usual party is usually Anders, Fenris, Varric/Isabella. My standard difficulty setting is hard, but he also was my tank in my nightmare runs.

I actually liked two-handers in DA:2, but did not in DA:O (so I hardly ever used Sten and Oghren) If it will be cumbersome like in the original game I will stay away from it too. Hopefully the dual wielding warriors will make a comeback.

Hmm, still not sure what I will pick for my own character for the first playthrough... I tend to grab mage (did elf mage for DA:O), so maybe I'll do that again...

I played as a s&s tank in DA:O, a mage in DA:2... so I'll probably be a duel wielding rogue in DA:I for the sake of variety.
My party will consist of Cullen (s&s tank), Cassandra (possibly two-handed), and then I'll switch between Vivienne or that Tevinter mage guy.

I did the same thing with Alistair, too. I was a s&s tank in DA:O, so I didn't need to bring him along, but I brought Alistair everywhere with me because he was awesome and adorable and he was my LI.

I feel sorry for Cullen because my Inquisitor will never leave him alone. She will always be by his side, breathing down his neck.

I do that too. Definitely over attached girlfriend. But I obsess over anything and everything irl, so it's a bit less weird for me to do this sort of thing.

Hmm... I haven't decided if I'll play rogue or mage my first time. I like playing a mage myself because I tend to go healing and that allows me to vary my party. But I see Cullen as a defender, so I'll probably spec him s&s and I also see me never having him out of my sight for a minute! Posted Image Posted Image
