More like... My Warden is a boy and Alistair's too dense to read these longing looks he keeps tossing him

One thing I like better in DA2 versus DA:O is that any character can be romanced regardless of the PC's gender.

I realize it's unrealistic for the NPC characters not to have preferences, but this is one place I'd be happy to sacrifice some realism. In the real world if someone I'm interested in is not interested in me back, I have several billion other people to choose from. In the game I have only a handful to choose from, so I think it's more fun if the game doesn't further limit the already small pool by having some characters unavailable to certain PCs.

If Cullen is romanceable in DA:I, I hope they don't limit it to a certain gender/class/origin, because I really want to throw a mage at him. ;)

I had the opposite problem, where my only available LI (Leliana) never quite seemed to perfectly fit my Warden, whereas Merrill worked perfectly in DA2.

Same; BroHawke x Fenris and FemHawke x Isabela are like <3<3<3 for me :D Of course I romanced the other two and like them as well, just those two are my OTPs.

And yeah (my) Warden x Zevran may not have been the pairing I would have chosen, had I been given a proper choice, but it's still sweet, and Zevran's elf-y-ness plays into that, since he was a Crow, and he puffs himself up a bit to pretend he's not a second class citizen, but you know he knows how people (humans) see him, and my Warden knew, and felt the same, and there was just something fascinating about Zevran (especially to my city elf Warden) that really drew my Warden to him. He really admired him.

Yeah same; Male Elf Rogue x Cullen has been my canon Cullen-mance for years, DON'T TAKE THAT FROM ME BIOWARE.

If so, it would be the first bit of good news I've had all day.

I completely agree, I really liked that you could romance regardless of gender.  It felt nice for me after waiting so long as a gamer.  Normally if I want to romance a guy I HAVE to play as a girl, which is fine but it's still much more cool to be more included.

I'm sorry berelinde I don't think so :(.  You have my permission as a therapist to go buy chocolate or whatver your craving though! :D I mean I could be wrong about this but if some else pops up and says he was it'll be awesome news for me too!

Ok Motomotogirl I hear you about the Alistair thing! I never read guides so when I played I was so sure he was gay!  I mean he seemed so devastated over Duncan I was sure my warden was going to be able to...help him recover? I have no idea how to say score without saying score lol.  I was confused because Zevran was all "Sex now yes?"  And I figured Alistairs romance dialog options would open more as the game advanced because he was shy lol!

Nothing official. Just stroooong hints that he's in the game, in some capacity. Nothing at all about companion status.

I kinda wish life wasn't so crazy. I'm so far behind on the gossip it isn't even funny. But I'll take those hints.

In other news, it's almost next year. Weren't we supposed to start finding out more stuff next year?

I'm hoping for some Christmas presents from Bioware in the form of news. And a Valentine's reveal of the LIs, which probably wouldn't be feasible, though. DA2 did it, but it came out in March, not November.

If only that were so!! :crying::crying::crying: Alas

But the fact that I wanted to romance Joker just goes to show that even making all LI available to both genders won't stop some of us from wanting what we can't have lol! And hell, how about those of us who wanted to romance Cullen in DA2.

:P

(Although technically I would not have romanced Cullen with either Hawke because I already have OTPs for them, and (my) Hawke x Cullen just seems... wrong)

(Also, btw, just so you guys don't think me fickle, yes, Cullen x Alain is still my super secret ultra impossible OTP for Cullen, but I did manage to get it out of my system for a bit with that little ficlet I wrote. Now I can focus on Inquisitor x Cullen, yay!)

Ironically, you're probably  not that far behind. There's been nothing new since PAX and the Game Informer articles. You could always watch Lola's video about PAX when she posts it!

As far as the timing, we've been told (a) no new trailer until after the new console hub bub dies down, and (B) no more companion info til next year.

I find it literally impossible to imagine Cullen with anyone other than the Inquisitor, lol.

It is getting to that point, isn't it? I'm trying not to be disappointed, I mean, I'm trying to anticipate being disappointed. I almost think it would be worse to have Cullen as a non-romanceable companion than it would be for him to just be an NPC again. It would be like dangling your dream OTP in your face for the entire game lol

Yeah, please don't take what I said to mean that Cullen is confirmed as a companion. He's not. My "if" was just an "if." ;)

Totally off-topic, but you're a therapist? I work in adolescent residential mental healthcare. We have a thing kind of in common! :)

I swear like 2 weeks ago I heard bioware saying they were going to release some new stuff soon but then they pushed it back because of development or something...?  Is that not happening now?

Continuing to be off topic -sorry other Cullen thread members:).  I knew I liked you! Lol yes, I am a clinical psychologist.  I work with people with diffrent psychological disorders of varying degrees.  I spend much of my time working with individuals suffering from PTSD and I am very impressed by how the writers have handled Cullen's character thus far.

Cool! I work with teens with various mental health disorders who are in residential placement due to aggression, self-harm, or other forms of out-of-control behavior. We work on behavior management and teaching coping skills, as well as guiding appropriate socialization and teaching independent living skills and medication management. A lot of the job is just supervising the kids (most of whom require line-of-sight supervision) and redirecting negative behaviors.

I promise I won't derail the thread into talking shop. ;) But it's neat to hear about your job, so I figured I'd reciprocate.

Totally with you on Cullen's character and how the writers handled the aftermath of the trauma he suffered.

@ TreeHuggerHannah

I remember a few pages back you asked me about discussing Cullen and his potential case for PTSD.  I don't want to post everything I said earlier because it's very long, but here are the links to the pages.  If you want to talk about any of it feel free! I'm sure you have a lot of great insight to the subject considering your profession, so I'd love discussing it with you.  Sorry it took me some time to get back to you on this, I had to hunt the links down.

The other members of the thread had a lot of really great comments on the subject and I was very impressed by their level of knowledge.  They also had different and interesting opinions so I recommend reading a lot of their comments as well.
